Chapter 117: Atlas VS Aster

One by one the duels continued and one by one the students finished their duels and went back to the waiting room.

Many of them were teleported back to the waiting room with their bodies riddled with holes or crushed by the power of the elements.

Each of them had no idea how lucky they were. If Constantine’s magic hadn’t been perfect, they probably would have been traumatised by the simulated state they were in.

After all these encounters and almost three hours, the exams of the first, second, third and fourth years were over.

Yet Atlas was never called to the arena.

This meant that the exam had been handled by higher-ups.

"ATLAS SHOREKEEPER AND ASTER BLOOM TO THE ARENA!!!"

Atlas’s eyes widened at the sound of the professor’s voice, which had suddenly risen from outside.

He had been sent to face a wizard with seven magic rings for no reason.

He stood up abruptly and then looked at Irene in astonishment.

"Good luck, don’t lose you nerd," Irene said, a strange look of concern on her face. She wasn’t the only one who didn’t want Atlas to be defeated.

There were dozens of students from different grades around, and each of them seemed to support Atlas.

Atlas moved with calm steps towards the door of the waiting room, the area where the teleportation device was located. frёeωebɳovel.com

There weren’t many fifth years at the academy, so the moment Atlas stepped into the teleporter, he was teleported into a single arena in the centre of the Coliseum.

When Aster and Atlas looked at each other, it had to be said that the expressions on both of their faces were quite strange.

The puzzled looks made everything even more awkward.

Nevertheless, the two quickly shook hands and wished each other luck as if they had been friends for decades. Immediately after that, they moved to two different parts of the arena and waited for the words of the professor working as a referee:

"I wish you two a good duel...BEGIN!"

As soon as the professor’s words echoed around the arena, Atlas lunged forward.

As soon as Aster realised this, he hit the ground hard and then instantly levitated, covering his entire body with mana.

"Seventh-grade magic. Fly." Atlas muttered in his own mind.

He was weak against flying targets. It was even worse if the flying target was an intelligent flying target.

Still, he wasn’t weak, and he was skilful enough to keep himself up for a while, even if there was a high probability that he would be defeated.

Without stopping for even a second, Holy Mother and Sacred Flames began to increase the rank of their abilities.

After only a few seconds, he was surrounded by a huge aura that was colourful and at the same time impervious to light, and the weight of his aura spread throughout the arena, including Aster.

Even Aster’s flying spell came under pressure. He could feel his magic beginning to tremble.

Still, there was of course no way that a wizard with seven magic rings could just fall.

Aster immediately raised his hand and began to cast a silent spell.

The arena itself began to tremble instantly. Atlas immediately realised the enormity of the spell that had begun to form beneath the arena, and without missing a beat, he drew his holy sword from his inventory, gathered his aura into his sword to destroy the spell, and plunged the sword into the centre of the arena.

"ZWOOOMMM!!!"

The aura from the sword instantly flowed under the arena and at that moment Aster vomited a handful of blood.

The destruction of the spell seemed to destroy the mana link that existed between them. This, of course, had harmed the mage who had cast the spell.

"Why are you fighting like this?" Atlas suddenly questioned.

Aster looked at Atlas in confusion when he heard this question, and then Atlas’ voice rose again as he stood on the shattered arena floor:

"You can cast wordless spells, but despite all this, you are trying to use heavy spells. You were blessed by Apollo. You have the opportunity to officially transform into the light itself, but you are duelling like an aura warrior."

Atlas paused for a few seconds with these words and then spoke again, holding his holy sword against Aster:

"Prince. If you are going to fight like an aura warrior then come down, if you are a sorcerer then stay in the air and stop dishonouring yourself."

When Aster heard these words, instead of being angry, he felt as if a gap had suddenly been closed.

He instantly regained his composure and then released his mana out of his body as if it were a sea.

The two aura energies around Atlas collapsed instantly. They hadn’t disappeared, but Atlas was beginning to feel the pressure of the mana.

Still, it was not even remotely enough to collapse him.

Dozens of mana arrows began to form above, to the right and left of Aster, and even below him. Each arrow glowed yellow as if it were made of light.

"Much better," Atlas muttered when he saw this sight.

However, he immediately put himself in a fixed position and then waited.

Aster, on the other hand, began sending dozens of mana arrows at Atlas one after the other.

He instantly put his Night’s Step ability into use and with the help of the Superview’s superior vision and the holy sword he held in his hand, he started to cut the golden mana arrows coming at him one by one:

"SHING!!!"

"CHING!!!"

"CLING!!!!!"

Each time a different tone of voice emerged from the combination of the two attacks. Occasionally it sounded as if someone was striking a bell.

Atlas continued to control his breathing properly, constantly slashing the mana arrows to shreds.

The mana particles flew left and right and kept disappearing.

It would even be fair to say that it was a feast of sights.

It was difficult for others to even accept that this was only the beginning of the duel.

And to be clear...it was a beautiful sight.
