Chapter 54: At The Palace

"You do not have the right to defend and protect yourself. Every decision and every action you have taken has been made by you. After the checks we have carried out on your families and the tests we have carried out on your descendants, we have decided that they have been found not guilty. This is an order to all nobles: It is strictly forbidden to speak ill of the families of these three men, to treat innocent people as criminals!" Lars said.

After these words, he looked carefully at the three men and said the following words maliciously:

"Exactly one hour from now, your public execution will take place in the open square in the centre of Orion, the capital of the Epsilon Empire. Foolish dogs, I hope that all the souls you have destroyed will come to you from heaven and make you suffer the same punishment in that hell in a cauldron full of lava!"

These words were like a blow to everyone’s hearts. Prince Lars said this not as a Prince, but as if he were ashamed and disgusted by what had been done.

It was like a prayer to the gods and goddesses.

"Take them away!" Aether suddenly said, and with that, several of the knights dragged the trio off the floor and left the throne room.

At that moment, someone else entered the throne room. A young woman wearing red robes and a red and black fez. This woman was one of the imperial messengers. It would be fair to say that she was partly one of the emperor’s eyes.

"Your highness," the woman said and fell to her knees, waiting for him to give her the right to speak.

"Has something happened?" Aether asked.

"Sir, Lady Cordelia is here," she replied.

All the nobles froze at that moment. The Imperial family and Eva quickly began to follow the woman. After five minutes, the group arrived in front of a room.

Aether gently opened the door and then saw Cordelia standing in the room.

"Professor Cordelia, what an honour to see you, welcome," Aether said suddenly.

Cordelia turned round as she heard the voice behind her, and then her eyes locked directly on Eva. The beautiful woman gestured to Eva that she was seeing and told her to come closer with her hand.

"It’s been a long time, Professor," Eva said suddenly, approaching Cordelia and bowing respectfully.

"Did you know that I took Atlas as my personal student, though I haven’t had the chance to teach him anything in the last month, since there’s been so much going on," Cordelia said suddenly, gently stroking Eva’s cheek.

Eva stood as bewildered as those behind her.

"I’ve heard something about it, but to tell you the truth, I didn’t really believe it. I think I know why," Eva replied.

Cordelia smiled gently and said, "So. The fact that young Atlas could use aura and mana together, and that he had white flame and black ice on top of it, made him special."

Eva’s eyes widened at the Lady’s words. Of course, every single person in the room was surprised by what they heard, but Eva was the most surprised by these words.

"Well, well, well... Didn’t you know?" Cordelia asked.

"I had no idea, my lady. I mean, I know he’s special, my little brother. Still, the fact that he’s grown up so much..." Eva muttered, a strange sadness in her face.

"He grew up so fast, didn’t he?" Cordelia asked, still gently stroking Eva’s cheek.

"My lady..." said Aether suddenly, with a worried expression on her face.

"Aether, I see you’re still very impatient, though you’ve improved a lot since the last time I saw you. I’m here to check on you before I go back to the academy. I’ve heard about the massacre inside and outside the Empire, well done," Cordelia said, before reaching into her magic bag and pulling out a few things.

She handed Aether, Aelia and Eva the things she had taken out of the magic bag. Cordelia then looked at the two children in the back and said, "They are 11 and 10 years old. You really went into labour early, Aelia."

"It’s a shame, it’s unbelievable that they’ve done the same thing twice at the academy. At least the kids are lucky, they have people who love them. They were busy living in the imperial palace while their father and mother were students at the academy," said Eva suddenly.

Aether and Aelia chose not to say anything, even though their annoyed expressions showed. It was obvious that both Cordelia and Eva were right.

The two of them had been involved many times at the academy. The fact that these two people, who were now 27 years old, had been engaged since they were young, and that the necessary ’lonely’ environment had been offered to them, had led to the birth of Minerva and then Lars.

"There’s one thing I don’t understand, though, my lady. Atlas is wounded, you know that, don’t you? I don’t think you’re here just for congratulations," Aelia said suddenly.

Cordelia shook her head, "I realise that, I’ve been on the road for two weeks, unfortunately, one of the treacherous professors managed to put a teleportation spell on the ground I was standing on. I was so surprised by the betrayal that I failed to notice it, which literally teleported me to the other side of the world. I wanted to visit you while I was back," he replied.

"A teleportation device that can even affect you?" Eva questioned, holding her chin and thinking. She didn’t even know it was possible. After all, Cordelia was not only literally the most powerful person who had ever walked the earth, she was also the most powerful being.

She was a woman who was able to cross human boundaries and create 48 magic rings interlocked around her magic heart.

How was this possible? It was a subject they could not understand.
