Apocalypse Circular-Chapter 464 - 463: Attitude After Destruction
The current environment was filled with explosive energy, high temperatures, and immense pressure, almost indescribable in its intensity. Such conditions indeed provided Lu Luo with the impetus to make an attempt. Yet, Lu Luo continued his relentless assault, seemingly with no intention of compressing the energy here.
BOOM!
"What are you trying to do? Resist? Didn’t you say you wanted to attempt fusion? So, what now? Is your Sequence not working anymore?" The Destroyer grabbed one of Lu Luo’s legs and thrashed him about carelessly.
Lu Luo was slammed heavily to the ground by the Destroyer, the tremendous force far beyond what his current self could withstand. Thrown to the ground, Lu Luo uttered no sound, merely staring silently at the earth beneath him.
On the ground lay a severed segment of Niu Zi, which the Destroyer had just cut off. A glowing Niu Zi, brimming with energy!
That was Lu Luo’s target!
He suddenly accelerated, his hand darting out to snatch the glowing Niu Zi. Then, he immediately detonated a burst of steam, creating an explosion between himself and the Destroyer. The Destroyer’s robust body remained utterly unfazed, but the shockwave was sufficient to push Lu Luo away.
Inside the black sphere, the air had long vanished, and the pressure continued to mount. But this level of pressure and heat was nowhere near enough to achieve Lu Luo’s objective. He needed far greater energy—brief, explosive, and utterly extreme!
Lu Luo clenched the glowing Niu Zi, an expression of shock on his face. "You made a 1:1 copy of me, didn’t you? Who would have thought I possessed such magnitude? I truly don’t know what Qi Xinzhu and the others have to endure."
Lu Luo was somewhat surprised by his own train of thought, but the Destroyer didn’t find it amusing.
"What exactly are you planning to do?"
"The energy here is sufficient. What I need to do is create a detonator. A detonator to set this place ablaze."
Lu Luo suddenly tightened his grip on the Niu Zi, channeling all his energy into it. The light source, already unstable after being severed from the Destroyer’s body, immediately began to vibrate intensely. Particles of the surrounding black fog were continuously absorbed by this light source, rendering the power of his Sequence even more volatile.
From their recent exchange, Lu Luo had identified a crucial issue: the Destroyer hadn’t moved much. Even when launching long-range attacks, there seemed to be a problem with its body. Perhaps it couldn’t move, or perhaps, having just been replicated, it wasn’t stable enough for drastic maneuvers. This was why the Destroyer had consistently adopted a defensive, counter-attacking stance against Lu Luo’s previous assaults.
This gave Lu Luo his opportunity! He increased the distance between himself and the Destroyer. He then continued to channel energy into the Niu Zi that the Destroyer had severed. The steam and explosive power of the Dust Devil continued to erupt outwards, with the Niu Zi in Lu Luo’s hand as the focal point of the immense pressure.
The Destroyer also felt the mounting pressure, but just as Lu Luo had surmised, it still didn’t move its body. Instead, it controlled countless black Devourer tendrils, extending them towards Lu Luo. Whether it sensed danger or for some other reason, the Destroyer had fallen silent. All it wanted was to snatch the Niu Zi from Lu Luo’s grasp.
But Lu Luo wouldn’t give it the chance. He had fought hard for this opportunity; he couldn’t afford to fail here, nor could he give up.
They’re waiting for me to return. This time, I have to win!
Steam mingled with the intent of his Sword Heart style as he thrust directly at the light source in his hand. He didn’t know what the Destroyer truly was, its ideology, or its purpose. He didn’t understand why it was doing these things, or what specific connection these corruptions had with it. But none of that mattered anymore—he needed to win!
Lu Luo also knew that once the explosion occurred, the channeled energy would instantly vaporize him. Such an explosion was something that even the faithless could not withstand. Yet, he had to do it. He was the master of the Disc, and as long as the Disc returned to his hands, under his control, he could be reborn in this world.
"So, let’s go down together!"
DING!
Ensnared by countless tendrils, Lu Luo’s strike pierced the light source. A chain reaction erupted instantaneously, energy engulfing the interior of the black sphere.
Steam. Fusion had officially begun!
...
Beneath the black sphere, Noah instantly sensed a wave of danger. He wanted to grab the mute girl and flee, but it was already too late. The fusion, triggered by the Destroyer as a primer, instantly breached the black sphere. Countless Sequence particles were vaporized by this energy.
Of course, that included Lu Luo himself.
Such power, truly apocalyptic! This thought flashed through Noah’s mind as he tightly gripped the mute girl’s hand. Even in this final moment of life, he still wanted to be with her.
It seems I’m going to die here!
BOOM!
The fusion erupted—an indescribable explosion that almost instantly destroyed the stable Disc World. The black earth fractured into several pieces, with countless threads connecting these landmasses, now adrift in the void, like a cluster of shattered stars.
The light source persisted for a long time, fueled by the energy of the Sequence particles and the Destroyer. After this fleeting, brilliant light, the Doomsday Disc’s space seemed to return to normal.
Everything reverted to its primordial state.
Void. Destruction!
...
In the Nether River, beside Meiqi, stood a burly man with a full blue-stubbled beard. This man was over four meters tall, and each step he took sent tremors through the ground.
"Hey, if you keep this up, my place is going to collapse."
The burly man lifted his head indifferently, "Wouldn’t a collapse be better? You must have longed to leave this place, right? Wouldn’t it be better to roam the skies like me?"
"Heh, don’t think I don’t know what’s up there. Are you trying to trick me into going up to the sky to bear your seal for you?" Meiqi looked at the burly man provocatively, but he ignored her hostility.
"It’s just a regular invitation. If you don’t like it, forget it. It’s not like I’ll lose anything."
Suddenly, both of them looked up at the sky. Something seemed to have happened amidst the endless stars—something they could sense, something worthy of their attention.
"The result is out!"
"Lu Luo, that fellow, is truly full of surprises. Every time, he seems to possess special methods to break the norm, surpassing our understanding and turning defeat into victory." Meiqi’s admiration for Lu Luo was unreserved, her beautiful eyes glimmering as if she were speaking of a beloved toy.
"Poor guy," the burly man shook his head, seemingly unconcerned by Lu Luo’s comeback. "He doesn’t even realize that his actions will only hasten the process."
"Alright, Lu Luo is on the right track now. Although there were some unexpected turns in the end, it also means he’s entered our planned rhythm prematurely. Next, we should look for the Dawn Disc and the Truth Disc!"
"Bai Qingshuang? If that woman possesses a Disc, she indeed poses a certain risk."
"We don’t even know if she’s alive or dead. Speaking of her now is pointless. Besides, if it’s just her alone, there’s nothing to fear." Meiqi’s eyes were filled with pride, reveling in the feeling of having everything under control.
Everyone wants to escape, but no one can.
"I’m leaving." The burly man didn’t seem keen on discussing the matter further with Meiqi and thus departed.
Meiqi watched his retreating figure, her gaze growing stern. Each of you has your own schemes but never considers what would happen if we don’t succeed. Do you really consider yourselves the masters here? The true masters of this place have always been humanity!
A roar echoed as the sky behemoth appeared once again above the Wasteland Alliance. It swayed its immense body, soaring towards the heavens, eventually disappearing into the clouds above.
Hmph, so the sky is not just your seal, but also your self-preservation? You’ve played your cards well, but under the grand tide of fate, no one can escape.
Meiqi twisted her serpentine tail and returned to the Nether River, steadily descending. She sank down near the Upside-Down Sea region, where the nascent Devourer she had been cultivating finally appeared before her.
Meiqi stroked the sea monster’s head, speaking tenderly, "There’s no need to be overly anxious. Soon, very soon, you will be fully restored and become the World Devourer you once were!"
...
At that same moment, in the Imperial Family’s temple within the Imperial Capital, the elderly man who had previously tested Lu Luo slowly opened his eyes. He looked puzzled.
Dead? It shouldn’t be that easy. After all, he’s a Disc Master. If he were to die so easily, the Disc would need a very long time to choose a new host. That wouldn’t align with the goals of Orochi and his faction. That fellow must not be dead. And if he’s not, he can still be put to good use. The Imperial Princess, Wu Liji... that’s indeed a very good idea. So, what should be done next? Let me think.
The elder murmured to himself and closed his eyes once more. The attendant by his side was filled with terror, for he found he could no longer move. His body was bound by some unseen force. Recalling the terrifying legends surrounding the elder, the attendant’s back became soaked with sweat.
"Are you very afraid?" the old man suddenly asked.
"No, not at all!" The attendant found he could speak again. Even so, he didn’t dare try to escape. That would be a grave crime, punishable by death.
"Yes, it’s quite relaxing here with me; there’s really no need to be so frightened. What’s your name?"
"You can call me Xiao Zhou."
"Xiao Zhou, ah. What do you think of the Emperor?"
"His Majesty? We are not qualified to comment on His Majesty."
"Indeed, commenting on the Emperor is inappropriate. Then let’s talk about the princes and princesses. Are there any with particularly vile personalities, the kind that the people of the Imperial Capital despise?"
The attendant hesitated at the elder’s question. He knew gossiping was taboo. Speaking out of turn at such a time would be a death sentence if word got out. But his hesitant gaze already revealed he knew something. After all, everyone enjoys a bit of gossip.
"You know some things, don’t you? Some of the absurd affairs of the princes and princesses."
"I, Ancestor, I can’t speak of such things! It will cause trouble if I do!"
"Oh? You’re so afraid of them, but you’re not afraid of me?"
The attendant looked at the elder, suddenly shivered, and immediately started spilling the beans, "Ancestor, these are all things I’ve merely heard. Please just listen and don’t take them to heart. Most of it is just baseless gossip and bragging; it can’t be considered true."
"I know. Speak."
"First, there’s the matter of the Twelfth Princess’s promiscuity. Her reputation is exceedingly poor, and her licentiousness is severe. She has been involved with guards, actors, and even some passersby. Many people still possess videos of these incidents. These videos went viral online, and although they were suppressed, this matter..."
Upon hearing this, the old man seemed very satisfied. He nodded and continued to ask, "Good. Since there are videos, it must be true. Is there more?"
"There is more..."
It turned out this attendant knew a great deal of gossip. Under the old man’s pressure, he revealed the affairs of nine princes and princesses in total, all of which were essentially confirmed facts. There was either video evidence, or the Inspection Department had already opened a case file on them.
Although Imperial law proclaimed equality for all, the princes and princesses were undoubtedly the Empire’s most privileged class. Getting them to confess and be sentenced was nearly impossible. Those princes and princesses who were removed from office, placed under house arrest, or exiled were not truly punished for these incidents. These incidents were merely pretexts; the fundamental reason for their exile was usually backing the wrong faction.
"To think that after I’ve been out of the picture for a while, so many scandals have plagued the Imperial Family. How wonderful!" The old man’s smiling expression sent a shiver down one’s spine.
Wonderful? What’s so wonderful about it? Aren’t you a member of the Imperial Family too? The attendant bowed his head, not daring to look directly into the elder’s eyes, but he could feel the elder approaching him.
"Ancestor, you..."
"Don’t speak. Just rest."
...
In the shattered Disc World, ethereal consciousnesses were drifting and dissipating. Since the Disc’s landmass had completely shattered, this place could no longer be considered a normal world.
On a fragment of the shattered disc, Noah slowly awoke. Beneath his neck lay something soft. Noah didn’t need to guess; he knew it must be the mute girl’s thigh. They had been in such close contact over the past few days that he was intimately familiar with every inch of the mute girl’s skin.
"Yang, we’re not dead, are we?"
With effort, Noah opened his eyes. He saw the mute girl, Yang, maintaining a thin layer of black fog that enveloped them both. It was precisely because of this thin layer of black fog that they hadn’t been destroyed by the earlier fusion explosion.
"You actually managed to defend against that? Such power..." Noah found it inconceivable. Even a glancing blow from that explosion would have been enough to obliterate a peak Eighth Order expert like him. The Destroyer’s explosion, amplified by the detonation of countless Sequence particles, was something no living creature could withstand. Lu Luo and that terrifying entity had both been vaporized in the previous explosion.
If the mute girl could withstand such an explosion, what did that make him and Lu Luo? What was the mute girl, Yang, then?
"I find you harder and harder to understand. Can you explain this?"
The mute girl, Yang, looked at the black fog surrounding her, frowning as she said, "I don’t know either. At the critical moment, it just seemed like I instinctively knew what to do."
