Apocalypse: Hero of Potato Fields-Chapter 364 - 351: Return to Hanover_2
"How many knights does he have?"
"None. To that madman, all life in the universe is merely a resource to exploit," Azarus replied with a smile.
"Understood. I need you to provide me with a detailed report. I also want to know about all the vassals, as well as the situation in the Argona Kingdom itself.
If we’re going to war, we must be prepared for any situation."
"But..." Azarus felt uncomfortable, knowing he’d be hunched over his desk working for several days...
"No excuses! That’s an order."
Lin Yi furrowed his brows, speaking to the now youthful-looking 150-year-old Alchemist, "If other vassals appear, I need to know how to deal with them."
"Understood... Please forgive me, I’ll do my best!"
Azarus bowed and hurried back to his laboratory...
Lin Yi continued to monitor the enemy while teleporting soldiers from the island’s borders to the military base.
This retreat on the Moving Island went quite smoothly, although the Beetle Queen was severely injured, as was Solomon.
Though his Stone Skin was formidable, it wasn’t enough to protect him from dozens of three-foot-long spikes fired at close range.
But most importantly, they escaped with minimal casualties, and the professor was confident that even the wounded could be revived.
The soldiers who had turned into Zombies were under observation.
The professor had long wanted subjects like these for his experiments, but he wouldn’t delay because the vaccine was only effective on those who had become Zombies within 24 hours.
As Azarus expected, Mizar launched several attacks, attempting to probe the enemy’s strength with small-scale expeditionary forces.
He deployed a group of vampires with Magic Barriers, several giant Chimeras, and even some flying Chimeras.
Of course, none of them survived.
Their bodies were carefully collected and looted, then delivered to Siri as lunch.
The enemies that were charred were recovered as bio-material, valued at 20 to 50 units!
"Hubert?" Lin Yi adjusted the walkie-talkie to the military headquarters’ channel.
"Boss, go ahead!"
Amidst the noisy background, Lin Yi could barely hear what Hubert was saying.
He was busy coordinating the retreat, medical aid, and many other tasks.
After the enemy Ark’s attack was repelled, Lin Yi had teleported Hubert from the Ark to headquarters.
They only needed a small garrison in the south.
"We need to defend Hanover."
"What’s left to defend?"
"There are still survivors there. Get in touch with Chen Youyou, she’ll arrange a place for them and some security personnel.
Plus food and medical staff. The more people who survive, the greater our chances of saving the world."
Moreover, if they could clear the city, they could loot it...
"Understood. Give me ten minutes."
"Okay."
"Boss?" Just as Lin Yi was about to teleport to his laptop’s location, Solomon contacted him.
"What’s going on?"
"Teleport the Sixth Squad and First Squad to the island’s border. The Children of the Sun need support, Su Almu’s gone mad. We need to rescue his squad."
"Those Sun Berserkers again..." Lin Yi muttered, but complied.
However, instead of teleporting to the laptop, he went to the base to figure out what had gone wrong.
Su Almu and his troops were completely out of control, plunging straight into the enemy’s heart, and were on the verge of being surrounded.
Squads of Beastman Riders on Shapeshifters charged fiercely to rescue the retreating Children of the Sun, pulling these fools back from the brink of death.
The Riders also arrived, creating a Fire Wall to cover their retreat.
It turned out Su Almu’s Magic Value had been exhausted, and he could no longer emit his radiance.
His squad was exhausted, and the wounded were increasing.
Fortunately, engineers had started planting mines in the city at the outset of the operation.
Once all units safely evacuated the city, the eastern border ignited like a lit candlework fire.
Solomon was in the infirmary, severely injured with dozens of wounds, so Hubert, Peter, and Adagamduir had to handle all the preparations.
In addition, due to Su Almu and his warriors, the operation heading to Hanover was delayed by ten minutes.
"Melanie, report the situation!" Lin Yi said upon arriving in Hanover.
He summoned the "Dagger" motorcycle and soared into the air because the city was teeming with Zombies.
"Boss, survivors have been found in a primary school southeast of the market church."
"How long can they hold out?"
"About an hour."
"Are they city forces?"
"They’re local Plunderers. The girls you had me keep an eye on are there too. They’re fighting and holding their ground."
"Oh? Not bad..."
As he traversed the city, Lin Yi encountered scenes all too familiar in the zombie apocalypse.
Screaming, crying, moaning... People diving out windows, chased by Zombies...
Some took refuge on rooftops, others locked themselves inside like hiding mice, while some fought back.
Many called out for him to save them upon seeing a person on a flying motorcycle.
But Lin Yi couldn’t save everyone, so he ignored their pleas.
Saving the primary school was more urgent now.
"Turn left; there’s a group of mutants ahead."
"Turn right; Zombies are hiding in the building ahead. They may jump out of windows."
"Here they come..."
Hearing this, Lin Yi immediately activated the "Dagger" motorcycle’s Shield.
At this moment, Zombies poured out of the building.
They crashed into the Shield and shattered, but the "Dagger" motorcycle’s battery was rapidly depleting.
Lin Yi maneuvered the motorcycle to break free of the siege.
"Mark all the survivors for me. We’ll come back to rescue them later."
"Already marked, Boss."
Lin Yi pressed on.
Soon, he witnessed the site of a fierce battle.
Someone had made a Fire Wall, but it didn’t last long before three loud explosions rang out.
The closer he got to the school, the more intense the fight.
"What’s happening over there, Melanie?"
"Mutants are assaulting the building with all their might. The defenders are barely holding the line... They’re about to break through, Boss..."
Lin Yi brought the "Dagger" motorcycle down, activated the crash Shield, and raced full throttle towards the destination, ramming through hordes of Zombies blocking his path.
Controlling the motorcycle at 180 km/h wasn’t easy.
Lin Yi used up an entire Third Level Energy Core, carving a bloody path through the Zombies to reach the school.
The survivors weren’t actually inside the school but in the surrounding area.
They had set up barricades, blocking all roads leading to the school, effectively fighting in a dozen different places simultaneously.
