Apocalypse: I Build A Doomsday Train-Chapter 38 - 34: Siege
Chapter 38: Chapter 34: Siege
Lin Xian got off his motorcycle and quickly grabbed onto the vehicle’s siding to fire back at the giant spider.
He shot several Wind Guns in succession, but because the distance was too far, they only made a few faint vibrations on the shadowy figure in the dense fog.
At this moment, the spider’s long legs attacked again. Lin Xian’s eyes flashed, and he immediately leaped in front of the little girl, raising his hand to conjure an Ice Shield!
Puchi!
The long leg penetrated the Ice Shield but was also blocked; the sharp spider leg tip almost reached the little girl’s face.
The little girl’s eyes widened in astonishment, breathing rapidly in shock, she looked at Lin Xian, "Are you a superpower user?!"
"Sha Sha, use this!" At this time, the window behind the driver’s seat opened, and the driver, a rugged-looking big man, handed out a Grenade Gun. The girl named Sha Sha didn’t hesitate, she skillfully loaded the gun and took aim at the giant spider, firing a shot!
Bang!
The enormous impact made the little girl stagger, and with the inertia of the vehicle, she landed on the ground.
But she seemed to not care at all, she watched excitedly as the grenade hit the spider directly, bursting into flames, then she shouted excitedly, "Hit it! Hit it!"
"Good, strike while it’s weak!"
KIKI stood up at this time, gritting her teeth ready to use her superpower, but Lin Xian grabbed her.
"No need!" he said.
At this moment, the giant spider, hit by a grenade, emitted a piercing screech but soon disappeared into the dense fog, losing its target.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
Only KIKI was noticeably agitated, searching in all directions for that shadow, and when she realized it was no longer visible, she turned to look at the little girl.
"Hey, what’s your name? Pretty impressive."
The little girl, with a bob cut and wearing a black puffer jacket, was dirty from a long time fleeing. She looked at the two in front of her and didn’t speak but knocked on the rear window’s door as if she discovered a treasure,
"Brother, this guy is also a superpower user."
The driver glanced at the rearview mirror and kept his focus on driving without turning back, seemingly not fond of speaking.
Lin is slightly chilled by the little girl’s implication—were they both superpower users?
"Lou Hua, Lou Shasha, my brother is like a block of wood, he doesn’t speak much," the little girl, holding the Grenade Gun, introduced herself while leaning against the rear window.
Lin Xian managed a smile, gratefully saying, "I’m Lin Xian, and this is..."
"I’m KIKI, did you guys just get here too?"
Lou Shasha shook her head and glanced at the pervasive fog, "We got here the day before yesterday, but like everyone else, we’re trapped in this damned fog."
"What? You’re saying you can’t get out of this fog?" KIKI frowned immediately, "Why? Is it because of that spider just now?"
"Not just that..." the little girl pouted, "This fog is full of monsters, all communication like phones and radios doesn’t work, and if people die, they turn into some kind of monster very fast, it’s really weird."
Lin Xian asked, "You just mentioned those people, are there many people trapped here?"
Lou Shasha gestured towards the direction the car was heading, "There are at least a dozen caravans, hundreds of people here, all over that square; my brother and I were thinking of taking the chance to break out at dawn, but then..."
Lin Xian’s expression darkened upon hearing this, realizing the situation might be much more severe than he thought.
"What kind of monsters are they, that so many people can’t break out?"
"Who knows," Lou Shasha shrugged helplessly, although her speech was youthful, her expression seemed mature, "The monsters in the fog seem to have telepathy, if everyone stays still, no monsters come, but as soon as someone runs outside, they swarm out from the fog..."
"That’s strange?" KIKI looked puzzled, "They don’t attack you after it gets dark?"
"Does it matter whether it’s dark or not?" Lou Shasha said somewhat dejectedly, "In two days, we’ll all be in the polar night, and by then, we’ll all be finished..."
Lin Xian’s gaze sized up the siblings, his expression becoming somewhat solemn.
If, as Lou Shasha said, the fog was almost indistinguishable from night, yet those monsters eerily did not actively attack the grouped survivors, it sounded like they were toying with their prey, sending chills down one’s spine.

He took out his walkie-talkie, to find indeed there was no signal.
Unable to contact Chen Sixuan, all he could do was hope that Teacher Chen could keep things stable.
"What should we do now?" KIKI sat next to Lin Xian, tightening her coat because she had just used her superpower once, her face looked somewhat tired.
"I don’t know." Lin Xian said, looking at Lou Shasha, "So you plan to head back to that square first?"
Lou Shasha nodded, "Can’t break out, no other choice." She said, her gaze then turning to KIKI, "Are you cold?"
KIKI widened her eyes and nodded.
Without a word, Lou Shasha rummaged through a pile of luggage in the back of the car and finally found a slightly loose blue sweater which she handed over, "Here, my biggest one."
"Wow, thank you~"
KIKI’s eyes lit up, unabashedly took it, removed her baseball jacket, then put on the sweater and put her jacket back on.
"But I don’t have pants that long," Lou Shasha said, her gaze complex as she glanced at KIKI’s long legs, her expression one that read ’I feel cold just looking at you.’
"No worries, hehe."
KIKI smiled, "It’s much warmer now, thank you."
"You’re welcome."
Having something was better than nothing; compared to the thin little camisole she had before, this thick sweater immediately made KIKI feel much warmer.
The pickup truck made its way around several damaged cars, slowly driving into a T-shaped large square. The fog here was much thinner, Lin Xian from afar saw many vehicles of survivors appear in sight; this place, similar to a town center square, had dozens of specially modified vehicles parked.
These vehicles were arranged in a circular parking formation, creating a makeshift defense line, containing heavy trucks, various all-terrain vehicles, and even armored vehicles and oil tankers.
But as the pickup entered the square, suddenly a dozen armed people blocked the way forward, the sounds of bullets being loaded resonated in unison, dark muzzles aimed at Lou Hua who was driving and at Lin Xian and another passenger.
"Who goes there?!"
A middle-aged man with a scarred face and a hoarse voice yelled at them.
"Living people!" KIKI stood up, hands on hips, loudly responded.
Lin Xian also stood up, his gaze sweeping over; he saw that these people, although dressed differently, all wore the same type of bulletproof vests, seemingly some kind of armed team.
"Eagle."
At this moment, a tall young man with a cold face walked out from behind the fog. The young man looked in his early thirties, stepping in shiny military boots, his tactical outfit looking sharp, yet oddly wearing sunglasses in the dense fog.
The young man removed his sunglasses and slowly stepped forward, looking at the driver’s cabin and coldly said, "It’s you siblings again."
The young man was called Qian Yu, head of the largest ’Black Serpent’ caravan among these caravans, with an armed team under him, all former members of his security company, totaling over a hundred people, well-equipped and well-armed. Thus, among these trapped survivors’ caravans, he unapologetically took the role of a leader.

The pickup truck’s door opened, a man as sturdy as a tower stepped down from the vehicle, his figure towering over two meters; Lin Xian even felt the entire vehicle lift a few inches.
Lou Hua appeared to be in his early thirties, with a square face, and due to being taciturn, he had an aura of ’do not approach’ around him, causing the surrounding armed gunmen to involuntarily change their expressions.
"Hey!"
The not-so-tall Lou Shasha then stood up on the hood, holding the Grenade Gun and said unapologetically, "We’re not part of your caravan, do you have a say over where we go?"
