Apocalypse: I Built the Infinite Train-Chapter 189: Invasion
Lin Xian thought he must have misheard or misseen things.
But right now, floating outside the train window through telekinetic ability—who else could it be if not KIKI?
Beside him, Chen Sixuan’s eyes widened in shock, as if she also thought she was seeing things, her mind momentarily blank.
"Little girl?!"
"It's me! What’s going on? How did you guys leave me behind?"
Lin Xian’s face was filled with disbelief. He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but his expression gradually froze.
If KIKI was outside… then who came back with him onto the train?
Lin Xian’s brows furrowed as he suddenly turned and sprinted toward Carriage No. 1, heading straight for the Eerie Cube.

[Warning! The train has been invaded by dark forces!]
In an instant, a chill surged from the soles of his feet straight to the back of his head.
Buzz!
The Eerie Cube's power flared up, and a terrifying low growl erupted from the carriage ahead—like a demon's hollowed-out roar.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The sharp sound of three gunshots followed immediately after.
"Not good!"
It came from Carriage No. 3!
Lin Xian’s eyes widened in shock. Without hesitation, he dashed forward while simultaneously opening the cockpit door to let KIKI in.
The KIKI on the train was fake!
His first concern now was Shasha and Director Ding.
The gunfire instantly alerted everyone in the surrounding carriages. As Lin Xian sprinted forward, the bathroom door of Carriage No. 1 swung open.
Shasha emerged, her small face pale with fear. "Brother Lin, what’s going on?"
Seeing the little girl, Lin Xian let out half a sigh of relief. He had no time to explain and bolted toward Carriage No. 3.
Thinking back, KIKI had been eerily quiet the entire way, simply sitting at the back of the motorcycle without a word. That was strange.
But something didn’t add up—weren’t the Impostors supposed to wear human skin to blend in? If one had taken KIKI’s form… didn’t that mean KIKI was already dead?
Chaotic thoughts flashed through Lin Xian’s mind, but there was no time to dwell on them. As soon as he reached Carriage No. 3, he saw research equipment scattered across the floor in a mess.
A pale, tiny Flesh-Boned Being wriggled rapidly across the floor.
In the corner, Director Ding held a handgun. Though she appeared calm, her trembling hands betrayed her fear.
"It’s a Mimic Parasite."
Director Ding spoke. "It tried to attack me, but… it seemed more interested in the Hell’s Black Chrysanthemum."
Thud, thud, thud!
From the other side, Lu Xingchen and Luo Ye rushed in.
Seeing the countless white parasites crawling across the floor, Lin Xian immediately shouted at Lu Xingchen, "Firebro, burn them all!"
"On it!"
Lu Xingchen moved swiftly, stepping forward with a sharp gaze. Without even calling out his attack’s name, he raised his hand—
Fwoosh!
Blazing flames engulfed the Flesh-Boned Being and the swarming parasites.
Lin Xian hurriedly pulled Director Ding back, raising an Ice Shield to block the flames.
"Disaster Flora!"
But amidst the roaring fire, Ding Junyi’s main concern was still the Blood Scourge Flora.
"Forget it!" Lin Xian pressed her back.
At that moment, an invisible wave of telekinetic energy surged forward, suppressing the rising flames and perfectly controlling the fire around the Flesh-Boned Being—preventing the entire train carriage from burning down.
Standing at the doorway of Carriage No. 3, KIKI’s face was pale as she held her hand out, restraining the flames.
With their combined efforts, the parasites were reduced to ashes.
The Flesh-Boned Being struggled desperately, raising its arms and letting out a chilling shriek—
"AHHHHH!!!"
The sound was raspy, almost like a young girl’s hoarse voice. A foul stench filled the air.
Within moments, the Flesh-Boned Being stopped moving, charred into a pile of blackened remains.
The heat in Carriage No. 3 was stifling. All the key personnel had gathered, their faces grim as they stared at the scorched corpse.
"What’s going on? She… she looked just like KIKI!"
Shasha’s eyes were wide with fear as she pointed at the charred body, then turned to the real KIKI.
"How could that be?!" KIKI flicked Shasha’s forehead. "Your sister’s right here! Don’t you recognize me? I’ve spoiled you for nothing!"
"Don’t blame her," Ding Junyi said. "When she first came in, even I didn’t realize something was off."
"How is that possible?" Shu Qin crouched beside the burnt corpse, frowning. "Aren’t the Impostors supposed to wear human skin?"
At her words, everyone turned to look at KIKI.
Lin Xian also turned to her. "What happened? Back at the chemical plant, didn’t you see me?"
KIKI looked confused and blurted out, "That’s what I was about to say! When I flew out through the skylight, I saw you running back inside. I thought you hit your head or something and rushed to save you! I almost got caught by that monster’s tentacles! But after searching the plant for ages, I never found you. And when I finally came out—your train was gone!"
"I thought…" She shot Lin Xian a glare but quickly swallowed her frustration as realization dawned.
Lin Xian’s brow furrowed. "I never went back. After I got out, Shu Qin and the others pulled me away. I saw you outside and thought you were fine. Once you got on the train, I left immediately."
He paused, his expression shifting. "I get it now…"
"It had to be those two Bone Worms."
"Bone Worms?"
Lin Xian didn’t answer. Instead, he activated the Eerie Cube and rescanned the train.
[Beep! Non-mechanical force detected. Initiating reflective scan.]
[Scan complete. No threats detected onboard. Dark force invasion neutralized.]
Phew—
Lin Xian finally let out a breath. It seemed the danger was over.
The others looked puzzled—none of them knew what the Eerie Cube actually did. Lin Xian didn’t bother explaining. He turned to KIKI.
"You saw a fake me, and I saw a fake you. If it was just the two of us, that means two Impostors appeared without needing human skin. The only explanation is those two Bone Worms."
KIKI’s face scrunched up. "So we brought those things onboard… and they can mimic people without skin?"
"Maybe just temporarily," Ding Junyi suggested. "When I shot her, I noticed her outer tissue was dissolving. It might not last long."
Lin Xian fell silent. That was a reasonable assumption. But he had a different theory—
The moment he activated the Eerie Cube, the Flesh-Boned Being let out that horrible scream.
His gaze shifted to the Hell’s Black Chrysanthemum—its red glow had mysteriously intensified.
"Right, you said it first tried to attack you… but then turned toward the Hell’s Black Chrysanthemum?"
"Yeah." Ding Junyi nodded. "I can’t be sure if its primary goal was the Disaster Flora, but at that moment, it definitely prioritized it."
"Then we got lucky," Lu Xingchen remarked. "At least it didn’t cause any casualties or major damage."
Lin Xian’s eyes swept over the charred remains on the ground.
Lantern Flowers. Impostor infiltration.
Someone had nearly led them into a deadly trap.
"AHH!!"
A sudden scream from the rear carriage.
Miao Lu’s voice crackled over the communicator. "Captain Lin! We have hostiles outside!"
Lin Xian’s heart clenched. He immediately opened the train’s blackout panels—
In that instant—
Everyone’s faces turned pale.
