Apocalypse with my SSS Harem Beauties-Chapter 110: Is It Over?
A few meters behind the monster, Myles stood swaying on his feet.
His breath came fast and ragged. Blood ran down his face, blurring his vision and dripping from his chin.
His whole body screamed in protest as he forced his body to move again, driven by nothing but stubborn will and determination.
"Just a little more," he thought, teeth clenched.
Earlier, pain had locked him in place. Every attempt to push himself faster had torn through his body like knives, dragging him back down while the others were being struck one by one.
He had watched it happen in helplessness. He felt deep regret. But he couldn’t do anything. Even reaching this distance at all was a miracle with his condition. He was still too weak.
Black shadows writhed around the monster’s legs, crawling upward his body.
Myles had already activated the second skill of his Noctyric dagger. Ether surged violently through him as the skill called Eclipse Shackles took effect, tearing away 300 of his MP and a chunk of his remaining stamina in an instant.
The price was brutal. But the result was immediate.
The shadows bit deep into the monster’s flesh, tearing it open and forcing a Deep Bleeding effect. At the same time, the bindings tightened, locking its body in place.
The monster stiffened, its roar cutting off as the stun took hold.
Three seconds was all Myles could buy.
"NOW!" Myles shouted, his voice hoarse and raw.
The shout snapped Nadine and Victor out of their shock.
Nadine moved first. She released her broken spear without hesitation and reached into her inventory.
A quarterstaff appeared in her hands, pale-blue light glowing at its tip. She set her stance despite the pain in her shoulder and clenched her jaw.
Victor didn’t hesitate either. His grip tightened around the greenish cleaver as he lunged forward.
Victor attacked first.
He swung with everything he had left, the cleaver carving a brutal arc. The blade sank deep into the monster’s shoulder, burying itself into his bone and torn his flesh.
Black blood sprayed to Victor’s face and body as the monster roared in pain, his body jerking violently against the shadowy restraints.
Nadine followed immediately. She stepped in and swung her quarterstaff with all the strength she could muster.
The staff connected with a dull and sickening crack against the monster’s skull. Ether exploded on impact and the blow sent fractures spiderwebbing across the monster’s skull.
The monster reeled, stunned, bleeding, and screaming.
Behind him, Myles sagged, barely staying upright. His vision dimmed at the edges.
Victor ripped the cleaver free and swung again, stepping in close. His attack landed heavy and brutally, carving into the monster’s flesh that no longer regenerated.
The monster thrashed against the shadows while feeling the pain, his movements sluggish and uneven as blood poured freely onto his feet.
Nadine stayed beside him and spun her quarterstaff and brought it down again and again, striking the monster’s ribs, body, and the side of the skull. Her wounded shoulder stung her with pain but she ignored it, teeth clenched as she forced her body to keep moving.
"I can’t stop now," she thought.
"ROOOAAHHH!!!"
The monster let out a broken and distorted roar. He tried to raise his arm or twist it free, but the Eclipse Shackles still held for one more second. Deep bleeding worsened with every moment, black blood spilling in thick streams.
Then gunfire erupted again. Ethan fired even though his pistols screamed in protest. Cracks ran along their frames, Ether circuits flaring erratically and his shots felt like it might be the last.
His arms shook violently with pain as recoil battered his exhausted body.
"I don’t care if you break!" he snarled, directing it at his pistols. "JUST FIRE!"
Beside him, Samantha loosed arrows with hands that barely obeyed her anymore. Her bow creaked under the strain, the Ether glow flickering unstable and weak. Her arrow tore free slower and not as accurate as before, but some that hit true slamming into the monster’s flesh and bone.
"This is our only chance. We must give everything... right now," she thought.
The monster’s body was no longer whole. Chunks were missing. One of his arms hung useless while barely attached.
His chest was torn open, ribs exposed and cracked. The oppressive aura sputtered wildly.
The time of the stun was ended and the black shadows wrapping the monster disappeared.
Victor roared.
"HYAAAAHHH!!!"
He planted his feet and swung with everything left in his body. The greenish cleaver traced a brutal arc and the blade cut clean through.
The monster’s flesh parted. The monster’s body was cleaved in half from shoulder to hip, the two sections separating in a spray of black blood and collapsing onto the ground.
The monster gasped hoarsely. What remained of his upper body slammed into the ground with a heavy sound. Black blood pooled beneath it as the purple vertical slit that served as his eye flickered weakly. The glow dimmed but the fury inside it hadn’t vanished yet.
Hatred still burned there, stubborn and unwilling to fade.
Then it looked as though all the strength left him.
"We... we made it!" Ethan shouted, a wild grin splitting his face as his pistols finally lowered. "We killed that monster!"
Relief crashed into him all at once. His knees nearly buckled as laughter bubbled out of his chest, half-hysterical and disbelieving.
Samantha let out a long shaky breath. Her shoulders sagged as the tension drained from her body.
She leaned on her bow for support, her eyes closing for a brief moment.
Victor stood there in silence, his chest rising and falling heavily. His cleaver slipped from numb fingers and clanged against the ground.
Nadine remained beside him. Her quarterstaff lowered, her grip finally loosening as the pain she had been ignoring rushed back in full force.
Behind them, Myles collapsed. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
He dropped to one knee, then fully onto the ground, his body completely spent.
His vision swam as exhaustion swallowed him whole. There was nothing left to force his body to go up again.
"Finally... it’s over," he thought.
There was no regeneration. No surge of power. No return of that oppressive purple-black mist. The monster lay severed in two and motionless now. There was no possible way he could rise again, right?
Then the monster’s body began to crumble. Cracks spread across the remaining flesh before it broke apart into fine black dust.
The fragments scattered across the ground as wisps of purple-black smoke seeped out and drifted upward. This time, the mist felt empty and hollow. It carried no pressure and threat.
"Let’s go check on the others," Ethan said, turning around as he wiped sweat and blood from his brow. "They got thrown pretty hard—"
He stopped when he saw Ryan was already standing behind him.
Ethan frowned. "Huh? When did you—"
Something was wrong. Ryan’s expression was cold and flat. There was no relief in his eyes. No exhaustion, and no trace of victory.
Before Ethan could react, Ryan lifted his spear and smacked him squarely on the face, hard.
