Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies-Chapter 495: A small world
Chapter 495: A small world
When Lei Qian saw that the woman was not listening to him, he rolled his eyes and then slapped her on the butt like a naughty child who deserved a beating.
"What are you doing?" Bai Meiyue was furious when she felt his hand hit her on the bottom. She raised the blanket that was covering her head and face and turned to look at Lei Qian, her face a brilliant shade of red as she reached her foot out and kicked the man on the side of his waist.
Lei Qian moved, as he was afraid that she would hurt herself. He caught her foot and placed it back on the bed and said to her, "You need to calm down. What are you doing by smothering yourself with that blanket? It’s not that cold." freewebnøvel_com
"Of course, a man furnace like you wouldn’t feel it!" Bai Meiyue breathed harshly through her nose. As she was advancing in her journey to giving birth, the hormones inside of her were changing as well. In the past, she didn’t care about men or physical intimacy at all. However, with her body changing, Bai Meiyue was getting more and more inclined towards getting close to Lei Qian.
And Lei Qian was not helping her by seducing her without even knowing what he was doing to her.
Lei Qian rolled his eyes and got into bed without fighting her, which surprised Bai Meiyue, as she never thought that the man would one day give up without fighting her. She watched him roll over, and a second later, he was lying next to her. His warm skin brushed against hers, and Bai Meiyue could feel her skin warm up as well.
She pursed her lips when she saw that the man had raised the white flag and didn’t say anything to him. However, her gaze then fell on the many cuts and injuries that Lei Qian had not treated, and she wondered if the man was trying to ruin his good-looking face by getting scars.
Rolling her eyes, she sat up on the bed and reached out to the cabinet that was right next to her bed. Ciyi, who was hiding under the bed, crawled out and then went to her warm bed as well when she saw that everything was alright.
Pulling out the first aid kit, Bai Meiyue straightened up and then started applying the ointment on the already clean wounds. This was an ointment that she had made herself and had tried on her own surface-level wounds. It had worked just fine thus far; Bai Meiyue had kept to herself.
Lei Qian stayed still on the bed and allowed Bai Meiyue to apply the medicine to the wounds. He closed his eyes and moved close to her, his face almost touching her belly, and his hand on her side.
When Bai Meiyue felt him get close, she stiffened. Though the two of them had done the deed, she was half mad with the drug in her system, and she had never been this close to him ever since she realised that she liked having Lei Qian around her.
Lei Qian didn’t know what was going on in her head. He was holding her close to him and finally opened his eyes before saying to Bai Meiyue, "It feels good to hold you like this. It feels like I am holding my entire world in the palm of my hands."
"I always wanted a family... You know? Don’t get me wrong," he continued sleepily. "My parents love me. But there were times when they were too busy—asking me to do better, pressuring me subtly as they kept telling me that there was a legacy waiting for me to take and own."
"It felt suffocating, but not anymore."
Bai Meiyue paused in her actions of applying the medicine. She lowered her head and looked at the man who had closed his eyes and was now soundly asleep. His breathing was smooth and steady as he slept like a baby.
For some reason, Bai Meiyue felt her eyes sting a little. She couldn’t help but feel that maybe Lei Qian was a pitiful person like her. He had everything and yet nothing. His parents loved him, but they also had their own wishes and dreams that they had pushed on Lei Qian. Hoping that he would be able to carry the burden that he had been pushed to carry.
Fighting against the relatives who were trying to rob him of the things that belonged to him.
Though she didn’t wish to say it, Lei Qian was never loved unconditionally, or so she felt. Because if he did, then why did his parents never tell him that it was alright and he could relax a little? Could they not see how strung out he was, or did they see but choose to ignore it all?
She looked at the eased expression on his face and pursed her lips. Just how worried he had been all his life that just holding her and their baby made him so content? However, this was good. If Lei Qian was content just holding her and their son, then it meant that he didn’t have the capacity to love anyone else. This was good enough for her.
Putting the medicine on his front, where there were claw marks, Bai Meiyue screwed the lid of the vial that she was holding in her hands and then placed it back in the first aid kit. After that, she gently pushed him away and covered him with the blanket, though she knew he didn’t need it; it just didn’t feel right to let him sleep without one in this fierce winter.
Once she had tucked him in, Bai Meiyue yawned and went to the bathing room, where she took a quick shower to calm her raging emotions and then returned to bed, where she silently lay down next to Lei Qian and closed her eyes before falling asleep.
