Chapter 61: Protection from the meteorites.

After a successful hunt, Sunshine took a bath and retreated into the space. She had finished the last robot dog leg and all she had left to repair was the magnetic umbrella and metallic bee.

She had not touched tye umbrella since it arrived and it was the first time she taking a closer look at it. As soon as she opened it, the umbrella darted out of her hands and attached to a metal pipe.

"System what kind of umbrella is this?" She asked as she wrenched it back.

It flew out of her hands again and attached itself to some nails and repair tools.

[The sleek shield, designed to repel meteor drizzle and solar flares. But it can also block the rain, some bullets and claws. Its most popular use is keeping hair impeccably sculpted in windy weather.]

For a moment, she thought that she had read and listened to the wrong description. The umbrella could repel meteor drizzle and yet people loved it because it protected their hair from the wind!

How windy was the planet these people lived on?

[Damage assessed: This umbrella’s magnetic spine has lost its polarity and begun repelling everything. Re-magnetize the spine and you are done.]

"Sounds easy." She mumbled. "What do I need? A magnet?"

[A polar re-calibrator, it can be found in the store. The price is fifty one points.]

"Can I make one with materials from earth?" She asked.

[Apart from a copper coil, your planet does not have the necessary components. But if you want to build one, you can purchase individual components from the store and do as you wish.]

"Give me the finished one." She replied. Why build when she could buy?

After going through the usual simulation she started working on the umbrella, A lot of zapping to the core was involved in the process and each time she did, the umbrella made a sound that seemed similar to a scream.

"I would be screaming too if someone was zapping my body. My apologies miss umbrella." Sunshine as always babbled on to what she was repairing. "If you are not a miss, you have my apologies again. Seeing as to how you are black, why don’t I call you black? So, care to share what happened to you?"

With her ability to tap into the last memories of whatever she was repairing, Sunshine touched the spine and her mind was transported the the scene. The umbrella was left unattended during a static storm.

"I would be screaming too if I was zapped by clouds and then zapped again when being fixed." Sunshine muttered.

The memory of the umbrella was not as entertaining as the memories of the robot dogs. After twenty five minutes, the umbrella folded itself with a pop, like it was declaring that the job was done.

[Congratulations host on another perfect repair. 80 points rewarded.]

[Task successfully completed

Repair integrity: 100%

Coins received: 105 gold coins, 53 paid to the broker.

Reward: 15 Merit coins, Total 258 coins

She had told the system to convert all of her payments to gold. Sunshine, reached out for her coffee thermos and took a victory sip. She was doing more and more perfect repairs each day. The downside was that the gift was only given by the system once.

"System, this umbrella has got me thinking. Is there something larger like it that can shield the base from a meteor shower."

It was either she purchased a lot of broken sleek umbrellas and set them to hover above the base or she found another option. The umbrella had opened her eyes and mind up to all the things she had not considered before because she never saw them in her last apocalypse. Like a shield to repel meteors.

For a second, she considered slapping herself on the cheek for being blind.

[Host there are many options from various worlds. But, considering where you are and how many merit coins you have, the options are as follows:

Mesh: A semi-visible net made of gravity fibers. It bends incoming meteors slightly off course, redirecting them elsewhere. But, it has a short life span of three hours once put to use.

Lato space: A device that opens an open space into which all the meteors pass through and end up some place unknown. But, one or two might escape and hit you.

Bubble foam: A shield made up of regenerating gel bubbles. It absorbs impact and vaporizes the meteorites. But, you need to add gel when it runs out of juice and the popping sound it makes as it absorbs meteorites is annoying to some.]

"Bubble it is." Sunshine said.

[You are in luck, there are bubble foam shields in the repair store. How many do you need?]

She looked at her stats first.

It seemed she would soon level up as a repairman. She had been accumulating points and coins lately without purchasing anything. Now was a good time to do some shopping.

"System, how many coins or points for the bubble?"

[Coins, not points and it will be ten coins for each bubble and one for the gel. Given the size of your base, you need three big bubbles.] freewebnσvel.cѳm

"Give me seven bubbles and seven gels." She requested decisively. The bubbles were not just for her but her neighbors as well.

Sunshine was determined to see to it that those meteorites were nowhere near the base. The closer they were, the closer the mist. This reminded her of the forest and she winced. She could not leave it unprotected as well. Less mist meant less mutated animals.

"System, make it twelve bubbles, I want to enclose as much of the forest as I can as well."

[Those will be 132 coins. Are you sure that you want to make this trade?]

"Yes."

The coins were deducted and the purchases appeared in front of Sunshine. First, she picked up a very large toothpaste stored like tube and frowned. It was the gel and the single word on the white tube made it clear. There was also an instruction that it was supposed to be slathered atop surfaces.

It would react to carbon monoxide and form many radiant pink translucent gel-bubbles.

She uncapped it and sniffed it. It smelled like pink strawberry bubblegum. "System, are you sure this is the gel?"

[Yes.]

"It smells like candy. I am very sure that more than a few kids will be licking this off surfaces. Is it dangerous?" She could picture Castiel, the toddler that was always trying to bite the beautiful koi fish wanting a taste of sweet smelling gel.

[The sweet smell fades after activation. The bubble and gel was developed as a children’s aid for protection of outdoor doll and tree houses from environmental changes. It is not harmful but it is also not encouraged for children to lick it.]

"That explains the candy smell and pink color." Sunshine muttered.

As for the bubbles, Sunshine was even more puzzled because when she opened a box, she saw shiny round small bubbles and blowing tubes. On the side of the box was an image of a child using the blowing tube to blow into a bubble.

"Hold on, I have to blow the bubbles manually!" She exclaimed.
