Apocalyptic World: Surviving with my husband and my cute little babies-Chapter 77: To City A
Chapter 77: To City A
On the other hand, Oslo was slowly navigating his motorcycle away from the chaotic city center. The streets were cluttered with debris from the recent earthquake—pieces of concrete, twisted metal, and shattered glass—making it hard for him to maneuver.
Thankfully, after a few careful turns, he managed to escape the city center. He quickly entered the space to check if they were already inside.
When Elena and Ethan saw Oslo appear in the space, they quickly approached him and exited to his location.
Time was running out, and they needed to leave immediately.
"What should we use, the RV or the armored vehicle?" Oslo asked.
"Let’s go with the armored vehicle so we can easily pass through any debris," Ethan suggested.
Oslo nodded and retrieved the armored vehicle from the space.
Without a second thought, they moved forward, undeterred by the fact that it was already evening.
Oslo drove the vehicle cautiously while Elena and Ethan discussed their recent mission. After an hour, they finally left City B city center and headed toward City A.
However, they soon discovered that another gang was stationed at the bridge they needed to cross.
"Chief, there’s an armed gang at the toll bridge. Should we stop for a moment to assess the situation?" Oslo asked.
"No, just ram it. Let’s see how sturdy this vehicle is," Ethan replied.
"Understood, Chief," Oslo said.
Oslo pressed the accelerator, and the vehicle surged forward, picking up speed. The gang stationed at the toll bridge quickly noticed the approaching armored vehicle and immediately issued a warning through an improvised speaker, their voices crackling with urgency.
"Stop! This toll bridge is under the control of the Quark Gang. Anyone who dares to cross without paying will not be shown mercy."
Oslo disregarded their threats, viewing them as nonsense, and slammed the accelerator, driving the vehicle forward with powerful force.
As the armored vehicle charged toward them, the armed gang quickly took cover and opened fire, desperate to stop Oslo.
"Open fire," the gang leader said.
Bang!Bang!Bang!
A series of gunshots rang out toward the armored vehicle.
However, their bullets bounced harmlessly off the vehicle’s reinforced exterior, making their efforts pointless.
The gang’s confidence shattered as they realized their weapons were no match for the heavily armored vehicle.
"Team leader, they’re not stopping, and the car is probably modified to withstand bullets," one of the gang members reported.
"Then what are you waiting for? Move out of the way, or that vehicle is going to hit you!" the leader shouted.
Everyone stopped firing and allowed the vehicle to pass, realizing it was wiser not to confront such a formidable armored vehicle.
Oslo and Ethan noticed that the gang had ceased firing, allowing them to pass unharmed. With that, they finally left City B behind.
Before they left, Elena covertly retrieved an explosive and tossed it onto the toll bridge.
’No hard feelings, but you angered me first.
A few minutes later, a sudden explosion echoed from the toll bridge.
Ethan looked at his wife, who was resting on his shoulder, and then hugged her tightly.
He sighed and thought, ’Never anger wife; she’s too vengeful.’
"That was intense," Oslo said, breaking the silence.
"Let’s leave carefully; it’s already evening," Ethan suggested.
"Understood, chief," Oslo responded.
They drove the vehicle cautiously through the night. The journey to City A typically took only two hours, but a recent earthquake caused branches to fall, making the trip significantly longer.
Oslo was in the middle of driving when a sudden animal crossed the road. He pressed the brake abruptly, causing Elena and Ethan to jolt forward from the sudden stop.
"What happened?" Ethan asked as he tried to check outside to see what had caused the brake.
"Chief, an animal just passed through. Let me check for a moment," Oslo explains.
He got out of the vehicle to check the surroundings. After scanning the area and seeing no animals nearby, he returned to the car. Just as he was about to open the door, he suddenly heard a strange animal sound coming from the bushes nearby.
"Mew! Yip!"
He was confused.
’Where were these animals lurking around?’
Ethan noticed that Oslo was now searching for something, so he lowered the window and called out to him.
"Oslo? What happened?"
"Chief, I think I heard some animal sounds."
"Come back soon if you can’t find it."
After a few minutes, Oslo finally found the animals. What he saw truly amazed him: baby wolves, baby tigers, and baby lions.
’What’s going on? Why are these exotic animals here on the street?"’
"Chief, I found baby animals in the bushes. They might be retreating from the City B Zoo," Oslo called out.
Hearing this, Elena immediately woke up and exited the vehicle to check the situation. Seeing the pups and cubs crying for something, she immediately checks the area.
"What did you see when you suddenly stopped the vehicle?"
"I saw an animal run and crossed the road quickly."
She checked the surrounding area and saw a tiger fighting a mutated beast; the tiger was losing the battle.
It looked at them as if pleading for help to take the baby animals with them.
"Roar!"
The tiger struggled for a while, then succumbed in the battle. The mutated beast immediately turned its gaze toward them as if sizing them up.
"Wife, come back. Let’s leave the area," Ethan suggested, knowing how formidable the mutated beast was.
But this beast would follow them wherever they went.
Elena knew they couldn’t escape, so she waited for a moment. When the creature drew nearer, she retrieved the massive stone she had used back in Willow Village to defeat another mutated beast.
With a swift motion, she struck the creature down. It died without fighting back. Then, stored the stone in the space again.
’Well, it was certainly helpful for smashing things.’
Oslo and Ethan were stunned; the mutated beast had died just like that.
They immediately inspected the tiger that had fought to protect the baby animals, but sadly, it was too late—it was already dead.
Ethan then looked at the smashed mutated beast.
"Wife, maybe there’s a core inside the mutated beast?" he suggested.
"I doubt it; it’s still a new one—a low-level mutated beast. It probably mutated not long ago," she replied.
"I see. Let’s hit the road again," Ethan said.
"Hmmp, Oslo, bring the baby animals over here. I’ve decided to adopt them," Elena declared.
Oslo took the baby animals to the vehicle and placed them in the back, where Elena and Ethan sat.
"Wow, they’re so cute! Poochi will have a sibling," Elena exclaimed.
Elena was excited about the addition of the new animals in their space, but Ethan looked at them with disdain.
’They may look cute now, but they’ll surely be savage later.’
"Let’s introduce them to Poochi. He’ll be a good brother to them," Elena said, smiling.
Elena immediately summoned Poochi into the vehicle. He was initially confused, but his face lit up with joy when he saw his mistress.
"Aw~aw~awww!"
’Mistress, are you looking for me?’
"Look, Poochi, you have cute little siblings now," Elena said while soothing the baby animals.
Poochi looked at the baby animals, whimpering. He was shocked to see such small creatures but soon realized they were different from him.
"Aw~awww~awww!"
’They’re different from me, Mistress. But who cares? I’ll take care of them.’
He gently placed his paws on the baby animals, secretly communicating with them to soothe their cries.
Afterward, they resumed their journey back to City A.
