Arranged marriage to the princess of the Red Scorpions-Chapter 56
56 Still Different
Samuel took one extra day to be with this parents before he knew that he was going to have to head back to live with Lena and her family. Even though he knew it was still going to feel different than being around his family, he wasn’t as nervous about it as before. He also noticed that his parents didn’t seem as stressed out over the matter either. He had hoped that meeting Lena would take some of the stress away from them worrying about him.
Jessie and Carl were the ones who were having a hard time with it because this time his parents had tried to explain to them why their older brother would be going away for such a long time. Jessie especially threw a fit because she still had the impression in her mind that Lena wasn’t a safe person for her brother to be around. Samuel managed to bribe her into trusting him however by agreeing that if she was good and trusted him that everything would be okay, he not only leave behind one of the extra pieces of cake for her to have all to herself, but also that when they came to visit for a party that would be being thrown soon, he would make sure that the chef made them something special.
This did the trick and she almost instantly calmed down and stopped crying beyond a few sniffles. Carl wasn’t as easy to convince, but he didn’t throw as big of a bit being the older one of the two and having a slightly better understand of the situation at hand. He didn’t want his older brother to go, but he understood that the other had already made the choice and that it wasn’t a forever forever thing, just a near future arrangement.
The second surprise that came to Samuel when it was time to leave was that the person who had come to pick him up wasn’t Clive, but a rather young looking man by the name of Jeff. Who apologized for the sudden change of plan and explained that Clive had a family matter to attend to and couldn’t pick up the young sir that morning and he instead was tasked with the job.
Jeff looked to be near thirty with messy black hair and of a slightly shorter yet leaner build than Clive was. He wore glasses and had a small goatee but despite being younger, he maintained the same professional and polite air that Clive had when he first picked him up and helped Samuel load his items into the trunk of the car without even being asked to.
“It’s nothing serious that’s wrong, is it?” Samuel asked when they were both in the vehicle and he was buckled up before Jeff started the car up.
“It’s nothing to worry about young Sir. His miss is unexpectedly pregnant and because of her age, the doctor is wanting to be extremely careful for both her and the child’s sake. She’s six weeks out and was admitted to the hospital late last night for concern that she might be in pre-term labor.” Jeff explained as they pulled out. Samuel waved once more at his parents before they were out of sight.
“Oh.” Was all he could say. He didn’t remember any indication that she could be pregnant when he interacted with her the week he was staying with everyone. Though he supposed pregnancy wasn’t as obvious for some as it was others.
“It shouldn’t be anything serious, but he will probably be off duty or on decreased tasks until everything is stable or the miss has given birth.” Jeff explained.

“I hope that everything turns out okay for them.” Samuel commented. He felt slightly less comfortable with this new person who was driving him back. He had gotten used to Clive and was looking forward to that familiarity during the long drive. ƒ𝚛𝐞𝚎𝑤𝘦𝚋𝓷o𝚟e𝘭.c𝐨𝙢
“As do the rest of us young Sir. Clive doesn’t say much about himself, but he’s one of the few main family employees who has been serving the Red Scorpions for a few generations now. I can’t tell exactly when they came under their services but I know for sure it has been for at least the last four generations.” Samuel was surprised to hear this.
“So that’s why he has such a heavy presence within the estate?” he clarified, Jeff nodded his head.
“Precisely. Not many people get to live in the main estate unless they are trusted by Zane himself or serve an important purpose by staying there. Other members such as myself live in the estate that is set aside for the rest of the staff and employees that work with the Red Scorpions. Don’t get me wrong, Sir Zane is a very generous leader who makes sure that we are all well provided for. It’s just that most people don’t noticed unless they live in the main estate.” All that information sounded complicated to Samuel.
“Unless you want silence young Sir, please feel free to talk or ask any questions. I am aware of what I can and not disclose to you as of yet as well as the schedule that the Princess has been setting up for your return.”
“Schedule?” Samuel asked confused, he hadn’t heard anything about a schedule from Lena before now.
“Yes young sir. I believe it’s an engagement preparation schedule among a number of other things. You have some appointments that you will be needing to go as well and discussions with her as to what should occur for the engagement. I believe Sir Zane will be part of those conversations as well. I believe that there is another schedule that the Princess is working on as well. I was only briefly caught up on what was occurring, Clive would’ve been better equipped with more information to answer such questions.” Jeff did his best to explain though a bit apologetically as he couldn’t provide a clear answer to the question.
“It’s okay, it’s not your fault that you got assigned to this position without much prior notice. I can ask her about it once we get there. I do have a few other questions I want to ask before we reach there though. I don’t think it’s anything that you shouldn’t be able to answer, just some stuff I have been curious about.” Samuel told the other who nodded his head slightly to let him know that he was listening since he couldn’t turn to look at him while driving.
“Ask away and I will do my best to answer. Anything I can’t, I will direct you to ask the Princess herself.” Jeff replied. Samuel actually had a lot of questions that he wanted to ask, but he was certain most were related to things that he wasn’t cleared to know about yet.
