Atticus's Odyssey: Reincarnated Into A Playground-Chapter 1287: Bro Code
Chapter 1287: Bro Code
Oberon remained unmoved, even accepting of Atticus’ actions.
It was important to establish a clear sense of superiority early on. A total of five worlds had joined them, the size of the world and population had multiplied manyfold. It would take someone with an iron fist to maintain order in such a world.
Magnus too appeared calm. His expression didn’t show any signs of reaction, but his slightly clenched fist was a little indication of his troubled emotions. It wasn’t that he didn’t agree with Atticus’ methods, it was something else entirely.
Avalon, instead, wore a serious expression on his face. He glanced downwards and nodded. Atticus had covered the hill with a veil the instant the armies appeared.
Anastasia and the others couldn’t see what was going on. While Anastasia had witnessed Atticus fighting and even killing before, it was unclear how she would react to a scene like this. The best thing was to hide it from her.
Avalon wasn’t against Atticus’ actions. In fact, he agreed with them. He saw the necessity. But the problem with scenes like this was that it was easy to paint someone the villain. Not that his son cared.
Seeing someone kill two people who couldn’t resist in cold blood would make people want to believe Atticus was the bad guy. They would abandon the fact that those two had wanted to kill him first. That if he didn’t have the power, they would have.
Still, it was all propaganda.
The three seconds passed in a blink, and almost everyone signed the mana contract. The people from the Somnera, Khelzar, and Vemirath worlds had all signed.
While the majority from the Surnix Hold and Ashveil Dominion worlds had signed, there were still some who hadn’t.
Their reasons ranged from loyalty to pride. But Atticus hadn’t cared. He treated them all the same.
Their screams pierced the air as they each compressed into nothingness.
Then, there was nothing but silence, until Atticus spoke.
"You’ll all report to them." With a wave, Oberon and Jenera appeared in front of him.
"Their words are mine. For now, return back to your people and calm them down. The less stupidity there is, the less deaths. I am no stranger to genocide."
Atticus’ last words froze their hearts. They each nodded rapidly, just as Atticus waved his arm, sending them back towards their groups.
Atticus felt the stares of the Eldorians almost instantly. He turned towards them, the heaviness of his gaze settling significantly.
"Things will be a bit chaotic for a few days with this merge," Atticus said. "But it’s best everything is in order before Ascension Day. I want all of you to work together to absorb these new worlds."
The expressions of the Eldorians turned serious as they nodded.
Atticus turned towards Oberon and Jenera. "Think of ways we can structure everything. Bring them to me as soon as possible."
As they both nodded, Atticus excused himself and appeared back on the hill. The tremor of clashing auras and even the merging of the worlds hadn’t reached here.
Atticus had covered the entire place, he had expected the attack. He had known what he would have to do, but he hadn’t wanted Anastasia to see it.
Unfortunately, now that he was a god, his mother crying at night was no longer a sight he could miss. And it hurt his heart to see her like that.
Atticus settled down on the hill, raising an eyebrow as he saw Whisker emerging from the main building.
"Are you okay?" he asked after a moment, having taken note of his tired eyes and dropped shoulders.
Whisker sighed, shaking his head.
"I would’ve been perfect if not for your freaking prideful spirit."
"Ozeroth?" Atticus asked. "What did he do?"
Whisker suddenly paused. He turned towards Atticus. "He told me not to say."
Atticus frowned. A secret between Whisker and Ozeroth? That didn’t sound good.
He first tried to go through Ozeroth’s memories, only to see that the spirit was blocking him. His frown only deepened. He decided to use another approach.
"Since when do you take orders from Ozeroth?"
Whisker paused. He narrowed his eyes. "I don’t."
"That’s exactly what you’re doing though," Atticus shook his head. "I’ve always considered you a free person. Looks like I was wrong."
Atticus held back his smile as he saw Whisker’s serious gaze and the increasing heaviness in the air.
Just as he thought his approach was working, the air suddenly turned lighter, and Whisker burst into laughter.
"Oh please, my star actor." He waved his hand, amused. "I invented that line of manipulation."
He began walking away. "Unfortunately, I respect the bro code. I won’t say anything."
"You know I can just follow you and find out, right?" Atticus said.
"Surely a god has better things to do than gossip," Whisker fired back as he began floating. "You don’t have to worry though, we’re not doing anything... too bad."
Atticus sighed as Whisker vanished into the horizon. He could see the direction he was heading toward and could only shake his head.
’I doubt that.’
He decided to focus on more important matters. Whisker was right about one thing, he had more important things to worry about.
’The changes.’ That was the first. With this new merge, a lot had come with it.
But just as Atticus was about to start thinking, he suddenly felt a shift. His gaze narrowed.
’Already?’
He vanished instantly and appeared inside one of the training rooms in the hill. His eyes focused on the three figures seated cross legged on the floor. The apexes.
However, rather than the unconscious state he had left them in, eyes had begun to peer open, and the glowing lights around the life weapons had dimmed.
He, of all people, knew the extent of the difficulty of the fourth trial. That people would die than pass it. Which was why, when he saw that the three apexes had taken their fourth trial, he had wondered if any of them would even pass.
Despite all of this, Atticus watched with a serious gaze as all three apexes opened their eyes, the mana around them swirling.
’They all passed?’
Something was wrong.
