Chapter 1290: Five

Atticus appeared at the top of the hill, eyes narrowed.

’Weird.’

During the brief moment he vanished from the training hall and appeared here, he had suddenly felt something... odd.

He couldn’t explain it. It was a feeling he hadn’t felt in a while, like a chill down his spine. Danger.

Atticus’s gaze flashed, and he focused on the training room he’d just left. The three apexes were leaving the room.

He scanned the room for any threats, focusing on the apexes again when he found nothing.

’Nothing changed.’

They were just as he had left them. While they had intense frowns on their faces, clearly angry at what just happened, it was a reaction Atticus had expected. After all, he couldn’t possibly expect them to be all smiles after they just became slaves.

Atticus scrutinized the three once more and cleared the image when he found nothing.

’What was that feeling?’

That was his major concern. Atticus had come too far to start ignoring his instincts, especially when it was this strong.

’They’ve signed a mana contract,’ he reminded himself. He had taken the necessary precautions to make sure they wouldn’t betray him or the world in the future.

But...

Atticus knew that the contract wasn’t absolute. The life weapons had the power to stop the time of the world regardless of how long. He would be damned if such a thing couldn’t find a way past a mana contract.

’But it doesn’t mean the life weapon is my enemy.’

He wasn’t even sure the three apexes were also his enemies. But Atticus couldn’t ignore his feeling.

’I’ll keep a close eye on them,’ he decided, and chose to let the matter go, for now.

’I’ll have to look for another place for them to stay.’ With his suspicions, Atticus would be damned if he allowed them be so close to his mother or even other family members.

’For now, Noctis is with her.’ At the very least, he could rest assured that Anastasia as getting the best protection she could possibly ask for.

Settling down on the peak of the hill, Atticus closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

’Now to more important matters.’

Eldoralth had merged with five more worlds. This meant five new societies, five new power systems. Five new races, basically.

Eldoralth had been a mixture of nineteen different worlds. And now, with this new merge, it was as though five had been added to that number.

The overall mana in the air had increased manifold, and so had the abilities.

’New mana signatures,’ Atticus determined. He had felt it the instant the merge happened.

The Eldorians were made up of all nineteen races Eldoralth had once been, but with the addition of these new five, they were no longer the best the world had to offer. No longer whole warriors.

There were five more races now, and for the Eldorians to be as complete as they were before, Atticus had to give them the other races’ mana signatures.

’Let’s first see how it is,’ Atticus decided.

He focused, and reached for the power of the world. He could instantly feel the new additions, five new powers that he hadn’t felt before.

Atticus selected one at random and focused. After a second, his lips parted.

"Heavy weight."

The mana responded to his words, gathering in front of him in a spiral.

In the next moment, a round dumbbell formed from the mana and was instantly pulled down by its heavy weight, cracking the earth with a loud bam.

’Awesome.’

The power he had just used was the one from the world of Ashveil Dominion. Atticus remembered the battle he had with the Amazonian empress, their god.

During it, she had unleashed attacks upon attacks using only her words.

’The ability to control mana with words.’

Atticus loved the sound of that. He could control gravity, manipulate sound, and utilize mana using his speech...

It was amazing.

Atticus attempted a few other things using his words and was left feeling thoroughly satisfied afterwards.

Then, he chose another power randomly once more. This time around, Atticus hand suddenly started blurring in front of him, forming numerous hand signs.

In the next moment, the mana started to respond, gathering fast to form a large cannon made from mana.

Atticus calmly studied the cannon. It was smooth and sleek, radiating an aura that made the air shudder. He had no doubt that any shots fired from this cannon would bring nothing but devastation.

’But it’s just another way of utilizing the mana.’

Atticus couldn’t help but draw the similarities between the earlier one and this.

For the former, he manipulated the mana using speech; for the latter, he used hand signals. They both had the same end goal, but different processes.

’I guess it makes sense. They’re from the same segment.’

The second power was from the world of Surnix Hold. He remembered his battle with their god, the High Marshal, Dronvet.

Both powers were centered on manipulating mana in different ways. After testing a few more simple hand signs, Atticus focused on the next power.

This time, a weird feeling washed over him. One he couldn’t explain. Atticus sent a glance toward the earth. He could hear whispers coming from deep within the ground. A lot of them. Millions.

It was as though he was growing mad.

Atticus frowned. ’The dead.’ He realized after a second.

The whispers sounding in his head, they were coming from the dead buried beneath the earth. He could hear them talk, as though their souls were present.

Atticus’s frown deepened as he vanished from the hill. A moment later, he appeared above the skies of where Sector Three had once been. Above the hill where the Ravenstein estate had been perched.

Only now, there was no hill. It had been flattened during the battles that raged across Eldoralth a year back. Still, Atticus wasn’t here for the hill, nor the estate. He was here for something else.

He vanished and appeared on the ground. The vast wasteland had turned into a grassland, a wide expanse of green stretching in all directions.
