Kai walked out of the court in a dazed manner. He held onto the yellow notebook, feeling the familiar worn-out cover, and shook his head.

"What was that?" he muttered.

Did Fang just recognize him not as Kai Guo but as Kaiden Tian?

He paused for a moment and shook his head.

But that was impossible!

He never told anyone about his transmigration! It was even more of a surprise because it was Fang. That guy wasn’t curious about Kaiden at all!

Or, at least, that was what Kai thought.

Unless…

Fang had transmigrated or had some sort of system, too. However, that was also very unlikely. If he had a system, then he would have been better than Kai by now.

He clicked his tongue and stared at the notebook. He placed the yellow covering a few years back, so he couldn’t remember why he chose such a glaring color.

Kai clicked his tongue and ripped the yellow cover, not being able to stop himself.

However, as soon as he ripped the front part, he quickly realized why he covered it in the first place.

He was about to tape the cover back on when someone called his name.

"Kai!"

Kai turned around and saw Calvin and Zheng walking toward him. His eyebrows raised in surprise as the two elites approached him.

The other people, too, turned to them with curiosity.

"Isn’t that Calvin Wu?"

"Oh gosh! It’s Zheng Zhang. I can’t believe we’re seeing two Elites from different teams."

"And who’s that with them?"

"It’s the defeater of the Elites—Kai Guo!"

"He looks so much better up close. How can someone so good-looking become a basketball player? He should have been an idol instead!"

"What’s up?" Kai mind, his mind momentarily forgetting about the notebook in his hand.

The two smiled at each other before collectively patting his back.

"We just wanted to congratulate you," Zheng started off. "I didn’t know you could play like that."

Calvin smirked as he turned to Zheng. "See! I told you our loss wasn’t for nothing. These guys are really good players."

Kai chuckled and shook his head. "Thank you, guys. I really appreciate it."

Zheng still felt the ominous feeling inside his heart. In fact, it grew even heavier as he stood in front of Kai. He could practically feel the power emanating from the young player. It was almost as if he was facing Jian.

Zheng subtly shook his head. "Let’s not go there," he whispered.

It was still too soon.

Kai was still too young.

Jian only gained such an aura during his second year in the Nationals. Kai couldn’t have gained such an aura when it was only his first year playing—and with no prior experience, at that!

"Well, we’re going to meet Fang after his lunch with his family," Calvin said.

Kai’s eyebrows raised in surprise. "He agreed?"

"Yup," Zheng said. "I honestly didn’t think he would, but he did. He said he wanted to talk to the people you had defeated."

Kai chuckled. "I still haven’t defeated you, though."

Zheng smirked. "And you never will."

Calvin shook his head in amusement. "Well, you have to beat your respective rivals before that could even happen. Do you think you can win against Jian now?"

Zheng squared his shoulders. "Of course!" he exclaimed. "I’ve practiced every day. That guy doesn’t even finish their practices, I have heard. I got this one in the bag, my friends."

"Good luck," Kai smiled. "It’s on the same day as our game with the Knights, right?"

Zheng nodded. "Yup, you guys are just scheduled for the morning."

Kai nodded. "I’ll make sure to watch it, then."

"Us too," Calvin chimed.

"Anyway, we’re heading out to eat lunch while waiting," he continued. "This guy and I have a lot of catching up to do."

Kai nodded and waved goodbye. However, before they left, Calvin smiled at him and pointed to the notebook in his hand.

"I see that you like princesses," Calvin teased. "Very fitting, I must say."

The two of them turned out each other and burst into chuckles.

Kai’s eyes widened. Before he could explain himself, the two of them were already on their way.

Kai sighed in defeat as he looked at the notebook. He remembered it now. He wanted to create a playbook, but Rui didn’t want to lend him any of his extra notebooks.

In the end, Kai decided to buy the cheapest one. Those kinds of notebooks usually had cartoons on them, and he grabbed one that had a lot of cars. However, a little boy begged Kai to give it to him instead.

In the end, Kai had no choice but to get the princess design because it was the only one left! He could have spent more on a better notebook, but he wasn’t going to spend more money on a bundle of paper! They were all the same anyway.

In the end, he covered it with yellow paper since it was the only available item he had.

He shook his head and sighed. He just hoped those guys wouldn’t bring it up again.

As he finally made his way out of the court, he came across a trash can, causing him to halt.

Just then, his system lit up with all of the upgrades he had received.

[Match win: +40 XP]

[Hard work points: +22 XP]

[Current level: Legend (246/500)]

Kai smiled. He had gained a lot from all the wins and training he had. Moreover, his hard work points increased with every game in which he beat the Elites.

It didn’t end there.

[New skill acquired!]

[No-Look Duo! This duo includes the no-look shot and the no-look pass. Confuse your opponents by passing to your teammate without them noticing! The no-look shot ensures 88% accuracy when shooting while looking or facing in another direction!]

He nodded in satisfaction. He might not have copied Fang’s special skill, but he was still able to attain a very useful skill in the game.

With that, Kai stared at the notebook and the trashcan, contemplating on what to do.

Then, he came to a decision. He placed the notebook inside the trashcan and smiled. It felt as if he wasn’t only throwing the notebook away but also his past.

He had a new life now.

"I don’t need this anymore," he muttered, satisfaction filling his heart.
