Beast Tamer Era: Capturing SSS-ranks with the Strongest Taming System-Chapter 135: First Mission
Ray checked Trixie’s status screen as the following information presented itself before his eyes.
[Contracted Spirit: Fairy Trixie]
[Rank: Silver Rank 4]
[EXP Required to Level Up: 1,500,000]
[Type: Support Type Battle Companion]
Stats:
Strength: 10
Agility: 180
Stamina: 30
Soul Force: 20.4 units
Skills: Radiant Restoration, Vital Rejuvenation, DIvine Empowerment, Arcane Conduit
Special Trait: Gigantification — Temporarily increases her size by 1 foot for every 1 unit of Soul Force consumed. For every 1 foot taller she grows, her Agility decreases by 10%, and her Strength increases by an equal amount. For example ,a 20-point Agility decrease converts into a 20-point Strength increase.
Ray gazed silently.
In her base form, Trixie was already astonishingly fast, only slightly slower than a peak Silver Rank demonic creature specializing in speed, and she was merely at the initiate stage of Silver Rank.
She must be as unique as a King-type demonic creature to possess such speed at that level of power, Ray guessed, feeling suprised at the discovery.
’Using Gigantification, she could temporarily sacrifice speed for brute strength. That meant she could, at any moment, unleash the destructive power of peak Silver Rank creatures specialized in raw might,’ he thought.
The only issue? Strength alone didn’t determine dominance.
Battles were won with precision, agility, and skill synergy. A single missed strike could mean death. Moreover, her entire skillset leaned toward support, meaning she lacked true offensive abilities, and she couldn’t yet use Divine Empowerment since it required more than 70 units of Soul Force, which was the only skill in her arsenal that leaned towards a more offensive approach.
Still, if she played to her strengths and utilized her innate powers and newly unlocked special trait intelligently, Trixie could overpower Bronze and Iron Rankers without difficulty despite being a support type battle companion.
Against weaker Silver Rankers, she might even stand a fighting chance!
The moment Ray finished going through her status screen, a deep sense of satisfaction welled up inside him.
Trixie’s advancement to Silver Rank had turned her into a genuine powerhouse.
Ray’s lips curved faintly upward. "I’ve finally got myself a strong companion," he muttered, pride gleaming in his eyes as he watched her hover gracefully before him.
Trixie’s silver hair glowed faintly, and each flutter of her wings left behind shimmering trails of light that filled the hall with a tranquil radiance.
Her presence alone was a huge boost to his strength. He could enjoy the benefits of having her as his contracted spirit due to the bond they shared.
Thanks to her Arcane Conduit ability, his Soul Force capacity had increased by 50%.
241.65 units. That was his current Soul Force Capacity.
His regeneration rate also rose by 20%, bringing his Magic Power Regeneration to 99.6 units per second.
A faint grin tugged at his lips. "Not bad at all," he murmured, closing the status window.
Ray did not linger in the Monster Palace for long.
He was back in the familiar crowded space as soon as he left it.
Seekers of all kinds crowded the main hub—some fresh from trials, others discussing rewards or gearing up for their next dive into the unknown.
The air carried a strange blend of excitement and exhaustion as every face here told the same story of survival and ambition.
Ray ignored the bustling crowd and went straight to the notice board on the central platform.
Massive in size and shaped like an ancient stone monument, it stood as one of the oldest fixtures in the Main Hub.
Hundreds of mission notices floated across its glowing surface, each written in golden text.
His sharp eyes moved quickly over the missions, scanning the details with focus.
Most were beneath his interest.
Ordinary hunts, escort missions, material collection, or guarding assignments with low rewards were directly ignored after a single glance.
After a while of looking, one particular mission caught his eye.
Name: Hunt Down the Traitor!!!
Objective: Kill the Rogue Seeker, Kalen Voss
Description:
Kalen Voss betrayed the Tower three weeks ago.
He was tasked to lead a team of Seekers consisting of twelve peak Bronze Rankers and several hundred Iron Rankers on what was supposed to be a clean sweep operation against an enemy outpost.
The enemy in question are the Ogres. One of the many Low-Rank Forces under the banner of the demonic creatures.
The Demonic Forces are broadly divided into four tiers of power. Namely, they are Low, Mid, High, and Supreme.
Low-Rank Forces are made up of Iron and Bronze Rank-level monsters, often used as expendable troops in invasions.
Mid-Rank Forces are led or reinforced by Silver Rank entities, creatures with a measure of intellect and tactical cunning.
High-Rank Forces include Gold Rank and Black Gold Rank experts, each capable of laying waste to entire cities.
At the very top stand the Supreme Forces, composed of iron to black gold rankers and helmed by Lords and Overlords, the true rulers of the Demonic legions, each commanding worlds of their own.
The Ogres were currently attempting to conquer Veridia, a lush and resource-rich planet.
With their immense physical strength and brutal resilience, they were known to shrug off most physical attacks that would maim or kill other monsters.
Their leader, a shaman of terrifying power, had been slowly consolidating control over Veridia’s western region, establishing what the Tower feared might become a permanent stronghold for the demonic forces.
That was the same world Kalen Voss had been deployed to.
Unbeknownst to his comrades, he had already bent the knee to the Ogres.
He deliberately led his entire team into a massive ambush. None survived. Every one of those poor souls were ripped apart and devoured alive by the Ogres.
The Tower has suffered devastating losses due to Kalen Voss’s betrayal. He is hereby wanted dead or alive.
Mentioned below is the information gathered by Tower’s spies by working day and night.
Kalen Voss is thirty-two years old, tall and lean, with a jagged scar running across his left cheek and cropped black hair. His current power level is that of a Peak Bronze Ranker.
He was last sighted three days ago near the Greyflint Wastes of Karthos. A desolate region of volcanic ash plains located on the planet Veridia. Seek him out as early as possible and eliminate him.
Mission Difficulty: 3 Stars
Mission Time Limit: 10 days
Reward: 10,000 Enlightenment Points
"This will do," Ray reached out to accept the mission.
A voice came from beside him.
"Are you looking to take this mission?"
Ray turned slightly.
Evermore stood next to him, her presence calm but confident. Looking as beautiful as ever, she was wearing a tight outfit that showed off her curves. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Ray took a long glance at her for the pleasure of his eyes before nodding, "Yes, I am. What about it?"
Evermore stepped closer and spoke steadily,
"Do you know? Mission of one star difficulty is the easiest and nine stars is the hardest."
She pointed toward the mission ranks that flickered above the notice board and continued,
"Iron Rankers can complete one-star missions if they group up, and Bronze Rankers can usually solo them. For missions of two stars and above, it is usually recommended that Bronze Rankers team up with fellow Seekers to lower the risks."
"What are you trying to get at?" Ray lifted an eyebrow.
Her lips curled faintly. "Haven’t you guessed it already? I want to partner up with you for this mission."
"Since this mission is challenging for Bronze Rankers, it will be a piece of cake for me."
Ray’s voice was calm and flat, showcasing his confidence.
Evermore’s smile turned slightly teasing, "You speak as if you can crush Bronze Rankers like ants."
"I can kill a Bronze Ranker in seconds, and I have done it before." He met her eyes evenly.
Upon hearing his words, her expression faltered for just a second.
She could tell he wasn’t bluffing. There was no pride in his words, no exaggeration, only truth delivered with palpable conviction. That certainty sent a faint chill down her spine.
"You really are not bluffing," she murmured, studying him again.
Ray folded his arms, unimpressed. "If brute force is the only way you can help, then I will do this mission solo."
That provoked her. She straightened, crossing her own arms with a faint scoff. "Who said I am so limited? I have clairvoyance. I can easily track him down for you, and you can finish him off and show me that you are not all talk."
Ray’s mind ticked.
Clairvoyance, an extremely rare skill that doesn’t only allow one to perceive things beyond normal sensory contact but can also let them see things that were yet to happen.
Back on Earth, anyone with such a skill could easily get into the investigation bureau, an organization directly serving the crown.
’I can use that,’ he thought.
Her power alone could save him hours of searching. Shorten the time he would need to hunt down the traitor.
