Beastmen Love-Chapter 249: Peaceful Times
After going back to the United Tribes, Astri had a period of some days having a lot of nausea and keeping anything in her stomach was a hard battle, worrying her spouses a lot. But after some more days, she started to feel like herself and was working on the things she likes to do.
She was teaching new doctors of the tribe about anatomy at the hospital. Kenzou, Claud, Koa, Caris, Carist, and Bono were watching her from a distance.
"It still amazes me how much knowledge she has. Does Nature pass all that to her?" Bono asks.
"No. Astri is a very smart female, and she learned a lot in the other world." Claud answers.
"She told me about this other world. Everyone there is smart like her?" Koa asks.
"I have met many smart people, but they’re not her." Kenzou says.
"No. Not all people from the other world are like her, as I saw in her mind. When I say she is very smart, I mean she is smarter than all of you can think. She has a perfect memory where she learns something and remembers it just by watching or seeing one time. Combined with her natural curiosity about learning new things and her solitude in the other world, she learned a lot." Claud explains.
"I wonder why she didn’t become rich there, too? Being so smart is not enough to become rich there?" Bono asks.
"Astri didn’t have a reason to be rich. She doesn’t want to be only rich. Richness for her is different. Now she feels rich not only for having gems, but for having a family and love."
"I agree with her. That is the best thing to have." Kenzou smiles.
All of them have to agree with that, too. Koa was also very rich, but he wasn’t happy before meeting Astri, so he understands very well what that means too.
While they’re walking together, Astri is drinking some water to soothe her dry throat after talking so much.
"Love? Claud said that you have a great memory, and that’s the reason you have so much knowledge. Is it possible to learn to like you or be smart like you?" Koa asks.
"Well, you can train to improve, yes. But I can’t say that you can become like me." Astri answers.
"She was born smart and with a higher potential. She was raised differently. For you to have the same capacity, you would need to be reborn and be lucky to have her mind." Claud chuckles.
"Well.. Claud is not wrong. But you don’t have to be like me to be good at something. Having my brain is not something very good sometimes."
"What do you mean?" Kenzou asks.
"For example, I would like to forget Freyd, but every time I see a black rock I remember him in details and it gives me a headache."
"Oh.. I think I understand now. But are you saying that your brain is different from others?" Bono says.
"In the other world, scientists, people who study things very much, developed a way to measure how smart someone can be. They called it IQ. When I was tested, my IQ was 160." Astri explains.
"And that is good?" Caris asks.
"Well, it is considered high intelligence."
"A genius, you say." Claud assumes.
"Some people call it that way. Some people call it crazy, too, so.." Astri says and shrugs her shoulders.
"You don’t seem proud of having such a gift, dear." Kenzou softly says.
"I am proud and grateful. There was a time I didn’t like to have all this, but now I do love it. In the past, I would become obsessed with minimal details that were not correct, and I would want to fix them. Couldn’t sleep with absorbing so much information I could get. Not having many friends and spending my free time learning things could be very tiring emotionally. Keeping up a conversation with someone would always be tiring, too, because I could feel they were judging me. When I arrived here, I also didn’t like to have this potential because Claud said it is something that can be dangerous for people to know that I am smart. However, none of you ever judged me for being who I am. And since I can use everything I learned here, build things, try things, my mind became healthier in terms of acceptance of who I am. I am happy with who I am."
They smile with what they heard.
"That is good to know." Koa says.
"Did you meet someone who is highly intelligent like you here?" Carist asks.
"Well, I met a lot of smart people here. All of you are." She answers.
"That can be compared to you, I mean."
"Hum.. I can answer that, but I don’t want anyone to feel bad. It is not because it is not like me that is stupid or low potential." She softly says, knowing that is a tricky and risky thing to say.
"All right." They answer together.
"Claud is smart. I think if he were tested, he would be like 120 or 110. Combining him with me made Atlas have high intelligence, too."
"I imagined. My boy is much more capable than I was at his age." Claud smiles.
"All of my children are smarter than others, but not because of this high potential thing. It’s because we are raising them differently. So, please don’t think that just because your brain doesn’t function the same way as mine means you’re not smart. You guys have things I don’t have, and that is also special and makes you amazing, too."
"Don’t need to try to put you down just to make us feel good." Carist chuckles.
"I am not doing that. I’m telling the truth. Having this brain always made me want to follow what is logical and not actually try something I don’t know or haven’t seen before. You two, Caris and Carist, for example, don’t have the same capacity as me but by yourselves decided to try new ways to make beautiful clothes and tapestries. For me, that is amazing. I stopped being so logical after I arrived here. I decided to try things more, even if I had never seen it happen before. As I said, all of you are special in your own way. No one has to be the other to be special." Astri says.
They smile, knowing that even being the smartest, she’s humble and sees what is special in everyone. As more time passes with her, they can see why she became so connected to Nature, and also why she is who she is.
..
The leaders of the United Tribes once decided to build a meeting room. A place that is for private meetings with the leaders and also people who are responsible for keeping everything running smoothly.
Astri was invited to join one of these meetings and see how much things had improved during her absence. After lecturing in the hospital, she arrives at the meeting room with the others.
The meeting room is big, with a large table and several seats, and there are several males inside, including some of Astri’s spouses who work as leaders of the tribes and also as responsible for some other duties in the tribes. There are some males whom Astri hasn’t met yet.
Astri greets all her spouses as usual, with a kiss, and then Claud calls her to sit between him and Wayde. Kenzou, Caris, and Carist stay behind her.
"Good afternoon, everyone. We wanted Astri to join our meeting this time. She was the one who gave us the ideas to have the structure we have today, and we also thought that it would be nice to let her listen and bring more ideas if she believes we could improve." Lee says.
All of them nod with a smile on their faces. Some of them are unmated males, and they were happy to be closer to her and have the opportunity to be noticed somehow.
"After you were gone, love, we had to implement the idea of choosing people to lead departments of the tribe so we could share responsibilities and have the time to look after you. Claud took one of your notebooks and saw the ideas you had, and we implemented how we could." Lee explains to Astri, and she nods in response.
Her face is relaxed, and she has a smile on it, showing everyone she didn’t mind that they took what was hers to use somehow. She was actually showing pride because of that. And she is very proud of them for being capable to keep evolving, even going through the hardest phase of their lives.
"First, let us introduce the departments. We have the Counselors, and they are Claud and Shung. Since they are the most knowledgeable, we refer to them when we need different perspectives. Shung, as a former leader, also has a great sense of how to help current leaders." Lee explains.
Astri nods, smiling, acknowledging the information, and also knowing that Shung had to take the position of Counselor more than Claud. Claud had to organize all search parties from all realms they had help, keep in contact, and be watchful of all groups. Not to mention their family that he also had to worry about and take care of. Shung ended up developing great knowledge and creativity to be in that position.
