Beastmen: She Tames the Land-Chapter 202: Spiritfang Tribe
The meeting ended with Uri announcing their new name. And while Uri, Visha, and Xeno left the podium, the rest of the members were eagerly speaking to each other.
Their chatter continued well into the evening. Some females planned to bring their partner back to the tribe. The males did not need to have such discussions. It was never a guessing game for them.
What the males spoke about was mainly having to challenge other males for the females they might like. As long as they won the challenge, they won the female.
Just like that, the excitement of that day bled into the following months.
During those months, the things they wanted to trade with other packs were prepared. They prepared their usual spices, a few flare crystals, and some medicinal herbs.
Visha also added some of the items she would normally make. The skin care, lotions, salves, and other items. She had accumulated quite a number after making them for so long.
She was especially proud of one she made using the crushed pearls she had gotten from the River Clan. She had been waiting for the system to continue the alchemy quest it had given before.
Since she did not get another quest, it was possible that the items it wanted her to find were not near the caldera. She half expected them to appear during the festival.
Because they would be trading with other tribes, they decided to include red-iron, along with some gold and silver they had found in the caldera. They also dried some of the food they eat on a regular basis.
They made enough flour that could be traded as well.
Those who were being chosen to attend the festival were also chosen at this time. Among them were Alair, the cheetah, Nyx, the panther, and the twin rabbti sisters, Vina and Vera. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Some unpartnered members chose to stay behind. The trio did not force them to go. The beastmen on the continent had 500-plus years of life. There was no need to rush into anything.
Their childbearing years started only after they became forty. There was no need to go now if they were uninterested.
A brief meeting was held with Roc and Crosvil. Though both wanted to go, they had to leave one behind. They were both good hunters. The tribe needed someone to be in charge while they were away.
Those in charge of other sectors were also a part of the meeting. Wila chose to stay with the children. Kaelean, because of his aerial expertise, was asked to go. Which means that the young hawk shifter was unable to leave.
He was not particularly unhappy as he had found a partner in one of the younger females from the Ram tribe. He was sad, however, that he would not be able to see the excitement.
As time grew closer, Visha, Xeno, and Uri had a meeting with the leaders of the River Clan and the Stone-horn tribe. It was more than two full moons before the festival would start.
"We only have one full moon to be fully prepared," Gorn stated. "The day after the full moon arrives, we need to leave. It will take until the following full moon for us to arrive."
"We have already begun preparing," Mira’s soft voice replied. "During this time, it is only a matter of getting the last of our things ready."
"It seems we’re all on the same page. So where do we meet?" Xeno asked, leaning forward from his seat.
The festival will take place in a valley to the Northwest of their location. To get to the location, they would need to cross the mountain. The valley itself was only a few days’ distance from the ruling tribes.
That is not to say that the ruling classes live close to each other. They simply chose a location that would be comfortable for all three of them. But, still close enough to go back to their territory if they so choose.
It is considered neutral ground for them.
"It is best if we leave before the full moon. It will give us time to rest. We can also arrive earlier than others to take a look at the valley before others."
Uri made this suggestion. Since it was their first time, he felt it was better to be early and know where they stood, rather than to be on time.
"Three days before the full moon. This will give us enough time to prepare our tribes to leave."
Uri looked around at the tribe leaders and his mates. He made the suggestion, but they did not have to agree with it.
"I think it will be fine. We are not sure why they have opened the festival to everyone. And I am sure there are other tribes who would think the same as you."
Mira gave her opinion. She knew what Uri said made sense. She herself was thinking about whether to have everyone leave earlier.
The meeting ended after concluding that they would leave before the one-month mark. Firstly, because others may be arriving early. Secondly, because three tribes travelling together is a large number. They may stop more often than usual.
Gorn and Mira left to inform their respective tribes. The trio also had a meeting witht heir own members.
Those who had been procrastinating, hearing they would leave sooner than expected, were giddy. They began to check all the things they wanted to bring with them to find partners.
No one except those already partnered was interested in the trading aspect of the festival.
It was thanks to these people that they were able to finish packing everything.
Three days before the full moon, the gates to the caldera opened. A large number of tribe members stood at the entrance.
Some were wringing their hands. Others were biting their lips. There were some who were talking nonstop.
Though some of them were from large tribes. It did not mean they had been to the inter-tribe festival before. This was their first time. And though they had not yet arrived, their bodies already betrayed them.
Before they left through the gate, Uri, Visha, and Xeno stood before them. They had something they needed to say before they set off.
