Come Home with Me

During her stay in Qingshui Villa, although there were some embarrassing incidents, Xu Jiaojiao had actually been quite happy. She did not want to go back, and she did not want her parents to see her injured. They would only feel even more guilty and heartbroken.

“Won’t they be worried if you don’t go home?” Xu Zhengyang reached out and pinched Xu Jiaojiao’s cheek. “Do you know that Mom talks about you at home every day?”

He did not pinch her that hard, but Xu Jiaojiao had a wound on her forehead. Every little movement would tug at the wound. “Ouch, Brother, that hurts…”

Xu Zhengyang quickly let go. “Be good and come home with me. You’ve only been out for a few days and you’ve already injured your head. If you stay for a few more days, you’ll lose your life.”

“Big Brother…” Xu Jiaojiao hugged Xu Zhengyang’s arm and acted like a spoiled child.

“It’s useless, don’t bother trying to act cute!” Xu Zhengyang hardened his heart. “Come home with me. You have to go home!”

Xu Jiaojiao stopped talking and pursed her pale lips. Her delicate face was filled with hurt as she looked at Xu Zhengyang with teary eyes. Xu Zhengyang had no choice but to agree. “Alright, alright. I’ll wait for you to recover before we go home.”

Xu Jiaojiao immediately smiled and said sweetly, “Thank you, Big Brother…”

“There’s no point in thanking me with words. I’ve been kinda broke lately. I don’t even have enough money to buy clothes…” Xu Zhengyang pretended to sigh.

Before he could say anything, Xu Jiaojiao picked up her phone and transferred 10,000 yuan to him. “Tell me if you need more.”

Xu Zhengyang immediately beamed with joy. “You’re the best, Sis. Rest well for the next few days, okay? You can go to class after you recover. I’ll send you to school every day!”

Xu Jiaojiao nodded obediently.

Qi Shenbai stood at the side and watched as Xu Zhengyang, a man who was already working, asked for pocket money from his younger sister who was still in school. The more he thought about it, the more shameful it felt.

Xu Zhengyang turned around and gave Qi Shenbai a look, so Qi Shenbai told Xu Jiaojiao to rest in the ward for a while before following Xu Zhengyang out of the ward.

Once in the corridor, Qi Shenbai spoke first. “I always knew you were shameless, but I didn’t think you would stoop so low as to ask your sister for money.” He even asked for a little girl’s pocket money!

Xu Zhengyang said, “What do you know? We’re siblings!” After saying that, he wanted to take out a cigarette. Just as he was about to light it up, he remembered that this was a hospital and a no-smoking zone.

Xu Zhengyang leaned against the window and looked at the hot sun outside. He licked his lips. “Old Qi, although you helped my sister at the wedding, that’s a separate matter. I don’t want to interfere in the Qi family’s affairs, and it’s not like I can interfere even if I wanted to. Just keep my sister out of this, or I won’t forgive you.”

Qi Shenbai placed his hands behind his back and said coldly, “It won’t happen again.” Although the results of his investigation had yet to come out, they all knew that this car crash was definitely not an accident. It was not the first time this kind of thing had happened to him.

Xu Zhengyang’s expression softened a little. “I can tell that Jiaojiao is quite happy living with you. I won’t thank you, since we’re friends. Besides, I work hard to earn money for you every day anyway.”

Qi Shenbai pursed his lips and did not say anything.

Xu Zhengyang thought of something before he left. He pointed at Qi Shenbai and warned him, “Let me tell you, don’t have any bad thoughts about my sister. You’re more than ten years older than her. You’re almost old enough to be her uncle!”

The veins on Qi Shenbai’s forehead twitched. “I’m only seven years old than her!” How did seven become “more than ten”?! Also, why was everyone calling him old lately?!

“Give it a rest. Seven rounded up is ten!” Xu Zhengyang waved his hand. Then, he suddenly thought of something and stroked his chin. “But it’s fine if you do like my sister. After all, my Jiaojiao is obedient, beautiful, and charming.

“If she likes you, you two might just end up together. However, that means you’ll have to call me Big Brother-in-law in the future.” The idea of Qi Shenbai calling him that was quite satisfying.

Qi Shenbai scoffed. “Do you think I’m like you?”

Before Xu Zhengyang could ask what she meant by that, he heard Qi Shenbai’s cold voice utter a single word — “Shameless.” In his eyes, Xu Jiaojiao was just a little kid. He was not a pervert, so why would he have those thoughts about a little girl?

Xu Zhengyang fell silent.

When Qi Shenbai returned to the ward, Xu Jiaojiao was sending a message to her teacher asking for leave. When she heard footsteps, she looked up and saw Qi Shenbai returning to the room alone. She asked, “Where’s my brother?”

Qi Shenbai said, “He went back to the office.”

“Oh, I see,” Xu Jiaojiao replied. “Can I be discharged now?”

“Yeah.” The results of the full-body checkup were out. There were no problems, so she could leave the hospital now.
