Became a Demon with Pregnancy System-Chapter 39: Let me show you
Mason, hovering nearby, was trembling. He had seen his fair share of battles but never anything on this scale. "Brother Morgan, we can’t get involved in this. We’re as good as dead if we try."
Morgan’s jaw tightened, his eyes darting toward the Volcanic Poison Wolf. His niece’s captor stood amidst the chaos, unscathed for now.
After a long silence, he made a decision. "We wait for Caden Carter and his army."
Minutes later, Caden Carter and Chloe Carter arrived with their military forces. Both siblings froze briefly, taking in the carnage before them, but they recovered quickly. Unlike the Joneses, they had been mentally prepared for what they might face.
"Brother Caden, is this the ’Nanling demon civil war’ you mentioned?" Chloe asked, her voice barely concealing her shock.
Caden’s jaw tightened. "It’s worse than I imagined."
"???"
Chloe Carter, Caden Carter, the three Jones family members, and the eight military commanders who had just arrived all stared at Zach in disbelief.
The confusion was palpable as everyone exchanged bewildered glances.
Finally, Chloe cleared her throat and hesitantly asked Zach, "What did you just say?"
Zach scratched his head, realizing his words hadn’t been clear enough. With a small sigh, he elaborated, "Look, see the Female Wolf King over there? She’s our ally now."
He pointed toward the regal figure of the Female Wolf King standing amidst the chaos.
"And that Spirit Wind Monkey? It’s the enemy," Zach added, his tone firm.
To drive the point home, Zach gestured toward Raven, who roared loudly on cue, emphasizing the unspoken alliance between the Demon Wolves and Zach.
"I’ve been working with the One-Eyed Demon Wolf clan. They’re on our side now," Zach explained confidently. "Trust me, we’re in this together."
The group remained skeptical. Chloe broke the silence first, her tone a mix of concern and disbelief. "Zach, are you feeling alright? Did something happen to you recently that... maybe affected your judgment?"
The idea of humans taming One-Eyed Demon Wolves seemed utterly absurd. It had taken generations of effort to domesticate creatures as docile as Skyhawks. The thought of Zach achieving such a feat with a species as feral as Demon Wolves in less than a year sounded insane.
The glances exchanged among the military commanders and the Jones family only reinforced the growing doubt.
Zach threw his hands up in frustration. "Fine, words aren’t enough for you guys. Let me show you."
Without waiting for a response, Zach leaped into the air and landed atop Raven. He shouted a few commands in a strange, guttural tone that echoed across the battlefield.
In seconds, a hundred One-Eyed Demon Wolves assembled into a perfectly coordinated iron-clad formation, their movements fluid and precise as if they had been trained soldiers.
The sight left everyone stunned. Wide-eyed, the military commanders rubbed their eyes, ensuring they weren’t hallucinating.
"Well?" Zach said smugly. "Do you believe me now?"
"Actually, it’s not just me," Zach continued. "A young man named Luke helped me figure out how to work with the Demon Wolves. Let’s just say he’s got a way of understanding them that goes beyond anything I’ve seen before."
Chloe’s eyes flickered with recognition at the name. Luke. The same man who had humiliated her in battle. The idea that Luke had tamed these creatures unsettled her deeply. If it had been anyone else, she might have admired their skill, but the thought of Luke achieving this only filled her with conflicted feelings.
"By the way," Zach said, turning to Morgan Jones and his family, "Marissa has been rescued and is currently being treated. Don’t worry—she’ll be fine."
Morgan’s eyes lit up with relief. "You’re saying she’s alive?"
"Alive and safe," Zach confirmed.
Morgan took a deep breath, the weight of worry lifting off his shoulders. "Zach, if that’s true, consider yourself a guest of honor in the Jones family from now on."
He then turned to his siblings. "Alright, let’s assist the military. The sooner we finish this, the sooner we can check on Marissa."
Caden stepped forward, his expression grave as he surveyed the battlefield. "No matter how you managed this, Zach, this is an opportunity to change things. If we win today, Nanling might finally see peace, at least for a while."
The other military commanders nodded, sharing the sentiment. For soldiers, even a temporary respite was worth fighting for.
Caden turned back to Zach. "You know this battlefield better than we do. You’ll lead the strategy here. Meanwhile, the Jones family and I will join the fight against the monarchs."
Zach nodded. "Understood. Let’s make this count."
The military commanders rallied their forces, their Skyhawks diving into the chaos. With Zach leading the charge, the Demon Wolves and human mages worked in unison, sounding the clarion call for an unprecedented counterattack.
Meanwhile, Luke faced off against the Volcanic Poison Wolf and the Flame Demon Wolf. Both creatures were visibly weakened—shells of their former strength.
The Volcanic Poison Wolf roared in defiance, but instead of attacking, it turned and fled. The Flame Demon Wolf, however, launched itself at Luke in a desperate, fiery charge.
Luke smirked, his voice dripping with contempt. "You’re not going anywhere."
A dense purple mist began to seep from Luke’s body, spreading rapidly until it enveloped the battlefield. The Volcanic Poison Wolf froze in its tracks, its body immobilized by the oppressive energy.
Luke’s voice rang out, commanding and unyielding. "Advanced Demon Technique—Cursed Pool!"
From the center of the purple mist, two enormous, skeletal hands emerged. They reached out with an eerie precision, seizing both the Volcanic Poison Wolf and the Flame Demon Wolf in their unyielding grasp.
The two commanders struggled, their bodies writhing as the cursed energy seeped into their forms. Purple lines of power etched themselves across their skin, spreading like veins of corruption.
Their roars of defiance turned into screams of agony. Moments later, their bodies disintegrated, leaving behind only two sets of bleached bones that sank into the glowing purple pool.
