Being Dumped by My EX, I Marriied His Older Brother-Chapter 97: Does That Girl Know You Saved Her Ten Years Ago?
Under the cover of night, the yacht slowly pulled away from the dock.
Accompanied by Justin Kane, Nina Thorne walked onto the deck.
There, Serena Kane was bound hand and foot, thrown onto the deck with two of Justin’s men standing guard beside her.
When she saw Nina approach, muffled sounds escaped from Serena’s gagged mouth, her eyes filled with a mixture of terror and resentment.
"So excited to see me?"
Nina sneered, glancing at her before ordering the men to rip off the black tape.
The moment she was free, Serena Kane erupted in curses. "Nina Thorne, how dare you kidnap me! What are you planning to do?"
Her gaze then fell on Justin Kane behind Nina. Remembering her day and night of captivity, her heart filled with nothing but rage.
"Brother, even if we aren’t blood-related, we should still have some affection after all these years. Why are you doing this to me?"
"Aren’t you afraid Mom will find out and blame you?"
"Is she *your* mother? You have no right to call her that."
Justin Kane frowned, his eyes filled with disgust, his voice cold and devoid of emotion. "I don’t have a sister like you. You’re an embarrassment."
Serena Kane gritted her teeth in anger.
Nina Thorne took a step forward, staring coldly at Serena.
The night was hazy.
By the light of the yacht’s lamps, she could clearly see the fear and hatred in Serena’s eyes. She was like a wild beast, ready to pounce and tear Nina apart at any moment.
’How ridiculous,’ she thought.
She had never done a single thing to wrong Serena Kane.
"Serena Kane, why did you want to harm me?"
Serena glared at her resentfully. "You never should have appeared! If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have been driven out of the Kane family!"
Nina Thorne’s fists tightened.
Memories of the past came flooding back like a tidal wave. She could never forget how Serena had conspired with those students to slander her.
"All these years, you’re the only one who has ever harmed me. I’ve never done anything to you. Even you being kicked out of the Kane family was something you brought upon yourself."
Nina’s voice was frigid. "Three years ago, I wasn’t the one who told you to drug Cole Kane, was I? I wasn’t the one who told you to climb into his bed, was I?"
"You did all those shameless things yourself. You can’t blame anyone else."
These words were especially grating to Serena’s ears. She let out a few sharp screams, her bloodshot eyes locked on Nina.
"Shut up!"
"And you think you’re so much better? Didn’t you dump Cole Kane because you were hooking up with Justin Kane?"
"It was crystal clear on the livestream last night! Plenty of people in the stream saw it. You and Justin Kane, getting together behind Cole Kane’s back. You’re absolutely shameless..."
Serena was emboldened, and her curses grew increasingly vile.
"So you set me up to expose my relationship with Justin Kane?"
Nina was already certain in her heart.
On the way here, Justin Kane had told her everything about what happened last night.
She hadn’t expected Serena to be so obsessed with exposing her relationship with Justin.
First at Mrs. Lawson’s birthday banquet, and now this...
"That’s right."
Serena snorted coldly. "I just want to watch you die and be branded a slut for the rest of your life."
A chilling glint flashed in Justin Kane’s eyes as he looked at Nina with concern.
The wind off the sea was strong, whipping her long, curly hair about wildly.
Under the dim light, the purple bruises on her face were faintly visible, yet her clear eyes were filled with calm resilience.
"So what if I am with Justin Kane?"
As her voice fell, Justin Kane’s dark pupils widened slightly. He looked at her in surprise.
Then, he saw her look at Serena and sneer. "You’ve always hated me for no other reason than you were afraid I’d marry Cole Kane. Since I’ve already let him go, why won’t you leave me alone?"
"Because I hate you! I hate your high-and-mighty rich girl attitude! You deserve to be despised by everyone!"
Serena was hysterical, her face twisted and savage as she roared at Nina.
"If it weren’t for you, you slut, Brother Cole would only dote on me! I wouldn’t have had to go abroad for three years..."
"You slut! I wish I could destroy you!"
SLAP!
The stream of insults came to an abrupt halt with the crisp sound of a slap.
Serena’s head snapped to the side, a swollen red handprint already forming on her cheek.
She said in shock, "You dare hit me!"
SLAP! SLAP!
Without hesitation, Nina Thorne slapped her twice more, once with each hand.
The events of last night, along with memories from five years ago when she first started college—Serena bullying other female students and then secretly pinning the blame on her—all came flooding back.
All of it transformed into rage, fueling each slap that landed on Serena’s face, one after another.
Nina’s movements were swift, her eyes cold and determined. She was simply seeking justice for everything she had suffered.
Before, she had endured it for the sake of the person she loved.
Now, she wouldn’t endure it anymore. She wanted to love herself properly.
’I am Nina Thorne,’ she thought. ’I’m the daughter of the Thorne Family, the apple of my parents’ eye. Who are they to trample all over my parents’ and grandfather’s treasure?’
As these thoughts raced through Nina’s mind, her actions became more decisive, the slaps landing on Serena’s face like raindrops in a storm.
When she got tired of slapping, she simply picked up a table tennis paddle to do the work for her.
The henchmen and Assistant Cheney, who were watching from the side, couldn’t help but frown.
They never expected the Madam, who looked so frail, to be so ruthless when she got her hands dirty.
Assistant Cheney’s eyes lit up again and again.
’Serves her right!’ he thought.
Justin Kane’s tense brow relaxed. He raised an eyebrow, appreciating the scene and analyzing which of her slaps was the heaviest, the most painful, the most perfect...
Across the open sea, Serena’s pig-like squeals echoed, her initially indignant and powerful shrieks eventually turning weak and fearful.
After what felt like an eternity, Nina finally felt her anger subside and stopped.
Serena’s face was beaten until it was swollen like a pig’s head. She lay limp on the deck, cursing weakly, "Nina Thorne... you... you slut... I’m going to kill you."
"I won’t give you the chance."
Nina tossed the paddle aside and crouched in front of Serena, warning her with a cold expression, "If you ever dare to mess with me again, I won’t be so polite!"
Serena looked at her, then at Justin Kane behind her, and suddenly let out a cackle.
As she laughed, fresh blood oozed from her already swollen and blood-streaked face.
"Nina Thorne, you’re so pathetic. You don’t even know who your real savior is, hahahaha..."
She said it in a voice only the two of them could hear, her laugh savage and triumphant.
Nina frowned suspiciously. "Do you think I’ll fall for that?"
"You’re an idiot, repaying a debt of gratitude for five years to someone who wasn’t even your savior, haha..."
"You know who it was?" Nina recalled the conversation she had overheard at the hospital that day, and a sliver of doubt crept into her heart.
Serena suddenly spat a mouthful of bloody saliva at her and said viciously, "You’ll never find out the truth!"
But she was so weak that the spittle didn’t even come close to reaching Nina.
She then coughed violently a few times, spat out a mouthful of blood, and her vision went black as she passed out from the pain.
"Speak!"
Nina, desperate to know the truth, shook her forcefully, but there was no response.
"Nina,"
Justin Kane frowned, placing a large hand on her shoulder to help her up. "What did she say to you?"
Nina looked exhausted. Thinking about everything that had happened over the years, she said irritably, "Justin Kane, I hate people who expect to be repaid for a favor."
"..." Justin’s eyes tightened.
’I’m not that kind of person, am I?’ he wondered.
-
Justin Kane took Nina away and ordered Assistant Cheney to take Serena Kane to the hospital.
Of course, Assistant Cheney handled the night’s events cleanly.
Even if Serena reported it to the police, there would be no evidence to prove she had been abused and beaten.
Nina hadn’t realized that hitting someone was so exhausting. After returning to the villa, washing up, and lying down, her shoulders were sore.
She rubbed them, and when Justin Kane saw, he immediately came over. "Is it sore?"
Nina nodded without pretense. "It is. It’s more tiring than playing badminton."
But she had to admit, after the beating, all the pent-up frustration from years of being framed by Serena was finally released. She felt an indescribable sense of relief.
Justin gently turned her around so her back was to him and began to lightly massage her shoulders.
His technique was so skilled that Nina thought he must have been professionally trained. She felt so comfortable that her whole body relaxed.
"After this, I’ll put some medicine on your palms. Remember to use a tool next time. Don’t hurt your hands," Justin said in a doting tone as he massaged her shoulders.
Nina turned to look back at him in surprise. "Justin Kane, don’t you think I was too vicious?" 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Thinking of Serena’s face, swollen like a pig’s head, she felt she had been too harsh.
But she didn’t regret it.
If those thugs had done something to her last night, Serena certainly wouldn’t have regretted it. She would have only wished for Nina to die.
Suddenly, the pressure on her arm intensified. Nina hissed in pain. "Gentler."
"It’s supposed to hurt. That way you’ll remember not to say things like that again."
Justin returned to a moderate pressure, his gentle voice guiding her. "When others bully you and you don’t fight back, that’s called being foolish."
"The young Nina Thorne I knew was confident. She would stand up and argue for what was right when she saw injustice, she would help people out of a sense of righteousness, and she would use her own claws to protect herself."
"You were never in the wrong. The ones who hurt you were."
A wave of emotion washed over Nina.
Once again, she felt that he was like a ray of summer sun, unexpectedly shining into her heart and dispelling the gloom within.
Just like the boy who had saved her ten years ago, giving her the hope to live on.
It’s just...
Back then, she had always believed that boy was Cole Kane.
Now, although she wasn’t sure if he was or not, what Serena said didn’t seem like a deliberate attempt to deceive her.
Regardless, she had to find a way to find out the truth.
"Justin Kane, thank you," Nina said sincerely.
Justin gave her a playful tap on the forehead. "We’re husband and wife. No need for thanks. You’d better remember that."
A bright smile spread across Nina’s lips. "Alright, alright, I’ll remember."
The curve of Justin Kane’s lips deepened.
-
In the early hours of the morning, Nina was startled awake by a dream.
Waking up to find Justin gone, she assumed he was still busy working late, so she got out of bed to look for him in the study.
Meanwhile, in the study.
Seth Lawson sat across from Justin Kane, swirling the red liquid in his wine glass. He teased, "Who would have thought you and that girl would end up as a couple?"
"Speaking of which, you saved her life ten years ago. If you hadn’t been there, that girl probably would have died."
Seth Lawson had nothing better to do tonight, so he came over with a newly purchased batch of red wine.
Justin thought of how Nina had said she hated people who expected repayment for a favor and couldn’t help but let out a low chuckle. "Let’s hope she never remembers."
"She did say she hates people who expect to be repaid for their kindness."
Seth frowned. "What, are you afraid she’ll be forced to pledge her life to you?"
"There’s nothing to worry about. You’re already husband and wife."
Seth smiled and continued to tease, "But does the girl even know you saved her ten years ago?"
The light cast shadows on Justin Kane’s face, and a dark glint flickered in his black eyes. "The little ingrate has probably long forgotten I ever saved her."
Just as the words left his lips, the study door was suddenly pushed open. Nina’s slender, graceful figure appeared in the doorway, staring at them in a daze.
"What are you talking about?"
