Betrayed by Fiance, Embraced by Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 162: The Proposal (1)
Chapter 162: The Proposal (1)
"Mhmm, yes, so truly one of a kind—" Sawyer replied, his gaze fixed solely on her. He didn’t care about the scenery; he cared only about her.
However, Abigail was oblivious to this, as her attention remained captivated by the view.
"Yeah, it’s so pretty. Thank you so much, Sawyer, for bringing me to your hiding place."
Abigail had learned from Brody that the cabin was Sawyer’s secluded retreat; it was a place where no one, not even his family or best friends, could come. Only a select few trusted individuals were allowed here.
"You’re welcome—"
Abigail glanced at him and was surprised to find him staring back at her. His loving gaze made her aware of what he was thinking.
"Did you answer me differently from what I was thinking?" she asked.
"Hmm, I was talking about you," he replied.
Abigail opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but no words came out. She could only smile at him while turning her gaze back to the scenery outside.
They both lost themselves in their thoughts again.
But soon, Sawyer’s unexpected question startled her.
"Abby, I told Grandma I want to marry you before the end of the year."

"Abby, I told Grandma I want to marry you before the end of the year," Sawyer declared. His words echoed in her mind, even though he was no longer in the room.
He was now outside with Ethan and the others, busy doing something related to his work—at least, that’s what he told her.
Abigail found it challenging to think clearly after hearing his words. She was still shocked by his sudden proposal and hadn’t managed to say anything in response, but her slight nod had made Sawyer happy.
"Thank you, Abby! I love you so much. We still have a few months to arrange our wedding. I’ll take care of everything; you don’t have to worry about anything..."
Only then did Abigail realize her small nods meant "yes." She couldn’t help but chuckle inwardly, knowing that.
Abigail had lost track of how many times she took a deep sigh.
Even after trying to sleep, her mind still raced with thoughts of becoming Sawyer Jones’ wife.
It no longer felt like a butterfly; instead, she felt like an entire zoo had taken up residence in her stomach, celebrating Sawyer’s plan to marry at the end of the year. This only made her even more unbearably nervous.
’Geez, Abby! Are you really ready? Are you ready to marry him?" The questions nagged at her once again.
Sigh!
Abigail buried herself under the covers, hoping to set aside her worries and get some sleep. Maybe she would feel calmer when she woke up and had to face him. But, of course, that wasn’t the case. Her mind remained active, overwhelmed with thoughts.
"Abby? Are you awake?" Sawyer’s voice was close enough to make her tense up again.
She slowly pulled down her blanket and pretended to be awake.
The dim light in the room couldn’t prevent her from noticing his worried expression as he sat on the edge of the bed—he looked nervous.
"Yes, I just woke up. What time is it?" she asked, glancing at the window. The sky was already dark. Instantly, she threw off her blanket and sat beside Sawyer.
She hadn’t realized how much time she had spent in bed. While her body was resting, her mind was racing, drowning in thoughts and stress about their wedding plans.
’Abby! Try to accept it! Are you starting to fall for him...’ She could sense the chaotic thoughts swirling in her mind.
As she vented her frustration internally while trying to fix her hair, she turned back to him and said, "Sorry, I slept too long. What will we do now?"
"We will have our dinner by the river. We shall head there now..." Abigail stood from the bed and reached out his hand to help her stand.

Afterward, Abigail changed into a thick, long coat and followed Sawyer to the river.
Upon arriving at the river, Abigail noticed she couldn’t see Ethan and the others.
’Did they leave me?’ she wondered, slightly shocked.
To her surprise, the stone fleet by the river was now adorned with a beautiful yellow lamp.
A table was set up with two food covers beneath metal lids. In the center, a fresh flower arrangement and a candle were placed. Two chairs faced each other, adding a romantic feeling to her heart.
"Sawyer, this is so pretty! Did you arrange all of this?" she asked, turning to see him standing beside her, smiling as if he hadn’t seen her since they arrived.
"I seasoned and grilled the steak, but Brody and the others set up the table," Sawyer replied, pulling out a chair for her.
Abigail could only smile, imagining chatty Ethan and the others working to decorate this spot.
"Do you like it?" Sawyer asked as he sat down across from her.
A nervous glint crossed his eyes, but Abigail didn’t notice because she was too busy admiring the lights arranged on the trees around them. She also saw some lamps placed near the table.
The electric heater beside them was enough to keep them warm.
"Yes, it’s stunning. But why did you trouble them just for this romantic dinner?" Abigail chuckled and then looked at him.
Instantly, her blood chilled. He was standing there, holding a small velvet box, and she immediately knew what it was.
Her hands slowly clenched, and her heart began to race.
’Is he going to propose?’ Abigail thought. This was the only thought that came to her mind.
Abigail tried to stand, but Sawyer slightly motioned for her to stay seated.
She could see how calm he was as he tilted his chair toward her and knelt before her. At that moment, her heart felt like it was beating faster and louder.
Instead of speaking immediately, he gently squeezed her hand. His warmth did nothing to warm her cold fingers.
