Chapter 165: Abigail Lewis

A month later.

The temperature in Solhaven City is getting colder as autumn has officially arrived.

Many things have changed in Abigail’s life since Sawyer proposed to her.

Her grandmother is getting healthier; she no longer depends on a wheelchair and can now walk independently, although not quite as quickly as before.

Even though she and Sawyer are engaged, Abigail has not yet moved into his house downstairs. Instead, he stays at her house on the rooftop.

Abigail no longer feels tense or nervous about sharing a room with him. She has even allowed him to consummate their love. However, something odd happened: Sawyer refused to do that.

Who can resist a hot man like Sawyer?

She can’t!

How could she do that when they share a bed every night?

In the past two weeks, she has experienced a lack of sleep. Each night, her mind feels like torture. She tries to create opportunities to seduce him, but all her efforts fail.

Curious about why he had changed his mind and refused to do that now, she started to ask him, but his answer remained the same: He respected her and would only do that after they officially married.

A few days ago, she discovered the reason behind it all: her grandmother had warned him.

Naturally, Sawyer wanted to impress her grandmother and promised never to touch her until they were officially married.

She decided to stop trying to seduce him and wait until they were married.

However, this morning, he shared the exciting news they had been waiting for: her name had been legally changed to Abigail Lewis.

In her mind, the air feels like the spring breeze has finally arrived after the long winter cold.

So many things delayed Abigail and Sawyer’s plans, primarily because she still used her old name, Snow.

Abigail didn’t want to be associated with her father anymore, so she postponed registering her company until her name was officially changed to Abigail Lewis.

This is also why Sawyer is unable to register their marriage as planned; they must wait until her name change is complete.

Now that her name has changed, Abigail and Sawyer feel excited and ready to continue their plans.

Early that morning, Sawyer left her at home, saying he needed to take care of something. However, he acted suspiciously again, which made her curious about what surprise he might have in store for her this time.

Abigail didn’t press further; she would only wait for him at home to prepare their lunch, as he had promised to return lunch with her.

Not long after Sawyer left, Abigail decided to review a few house designs she had accepted over the past few months.

While scanning her emails, one from Amelia Walker, Andy Bennet’s secretary, caught her attention.

She opened it and was surprised to see the revisions that Andy had requested for the project.

"Why did he suddenly want to meet again?" she wondered.

Abigail read the email several times, and the content remained the same: Andy had requested that she come to his office to meet him tomorrow to discuss it.

A soft chuckle echoed in the room as Abigail began to reflect on the past weeks. She had consistently rejected Andy Bennet’s invitations to meet for lunch or dinner.

She felt uncomfortable meeting him, especially since she knew her fiancé, Sawyer, was very jealous. He never allowed her to go out alone; either he would accompany her, or Vincent would keep watch.

However, this time was different. Andy had officially contacted her through his secretary, and she couldn’t refuse him.

Abigail picked up her cell phone from the table and immediately responded to Amelia Walker’s message:

"Okay. Please let me know the address and exact time."

Just as Abigail was about to check another email, a reply from Amanda Walker arrived.

"Thank you for your reply, Miss Abigail. 10 AM at Silverstone Tower, 49th floor. Please call me when you arrive."

Abigail remained seated at her desk, continuing to read through her emails.

After spending a few more minutes checking potential projects for her new studio, she found herself browsing the internet because she had to wait for two hours before Sawyer returned.

She was so immersed in reading online news that she didn’t notice Sawyer had come home. He was standing silently by the door, watching her.

Sawyer waited a few moments to take in the scene before him: his beautiful future wife. She rested her chin on one hand while the other busily maneuvered her mouse.

When he saw her raise both arms to stretch, he cleared his throat and approached her. His smile widened as their eyes met.

"Oh, Sawyer, you’re back already?" Abigail was surprised to see him. Her smile appeared across her lips while standing up from her seat to face him. "I thought you said you would only return at lunchtime?"

He gently cupped her cheeks with his hands and replied, "Because I missed my dear Abby; that’s why I came back early. What are you doing? You look so immersed in reading something and didn’t notice me?"

Abigail was used to hearing his sweet words, having recently been showered with them. She shook her head lightly in response before saying, "Read a few trending news..."

He nodded before taking her hand and led her toward the walk-in closet.

"Abby, go change your clothes. We’re going out for lunch, and before that, we will go to a place to pick up your engagement gift."

Abigail glanced at him, surprised. A furrow appeared on her forehead, clearly showing her confusion.

"Engagement gift?" She asked.

"Yes, this is my engagement gift to you. I’m sorry, Abby... I might have taken too long to prepare it. This special gift needs much work before I can give it to you."

Sawyer stopped before the walk-in closet door, gazing at her lovingly.

"Why do you look at me like that, Abby?" he smiled teasingly, knowing her confusion.

Abigail didn’t know how to respond to his words. While curious to learn about his gift, she decided not to ask any further questions, given how secretive he seemed.

"Alright, you need to change now, or we’ll be late for lunch at my grandparents’ house," Sawyer said casually.

Abigail felt as if lightning had struck her. She hadn’t known that Sawyer had made arrangements to visit his grandparents. After the first time they visited, Sawyer had always refused to go back, even though her grandma had called.

"Looks like you can’t avoid your grandma this time," she said.

"Hmm, she actually threatened to call you if I didn’t bring you to meet them," Sawyer replied.

Sawyer took a deep, long sigh, feeling frustrated.

He knew that if they went this time, his parents—especially his father—would also be there. He was still uneasy about his father meeting Abigail.

Abigail didn’t push him for more information; instead, she nodded and quickly changed into a nicer outfit. This time, she wanted to look pretty for her meeting with his grandparents.

...

Before long, they hit the road, with Sawyer sitting behind the wheel. As they drove towards Oracle Street, Abigail felt a surge of curiosity.

"Where are we going?" she asked, glancing at him.

A mysterious smile spread across his face as he replied, "You’ll see—"

"Gosh, Sawyer! Can you please stop making me so curious?" Abigail protested, tearing her gaze away from him and focusing back on the road.

After a short drive, they pulled over and entered the parking area of a five-story building with a modern facade.

Abigail’s eyes widened in surprise as she took in the structure. Unable to contain her curiosity any longer, she turned to face Sawyer again.

"This design! The one I drew for you two months ago, right? Why are we here?" she asked.

Without waiting for an answer, Abigail’s gaze returned to the building. She was taken aback when Brody and Vincent emerged from the main entrance.

The car stopped before the entrance just before she could ask Sawyer anything.

"Yes, you’re right. I asked you to design the building along with the interior design so they could renovate this building faster."

He continued to explain, "This is my gift to you, Abby. You can use the entire building as your new office."

Sawyer stepped out of the car and rushed to open the door for her.

Abigail was utterly shocked to learn that Sawyer had given her an office building as an engagement gift. She never expected such an extravagant present from him before they were legally married.

In a daze, she looked at the interior of the building. The main lobby seemed empty, but the design felt familiar; It was her design. She had drawn the interior design for him.

She laughed inwardly, amused by the situation—she had essentially designed the building for herself.

Sawyer smiled when he noticed Abigail lost in thought. Her eyes were fixed on the building, and she completely ignored him.

He slowly moved his hand and gently touched her cheek, rubbing it softly to get her attention.

"Abby, are you waiting for something?" he asked.
