Chapter 168: Visit The Jones Family Home

Sawyer smiled when he saw Abigail gasping in surprise. He gently squeezed her hands, hoping to give her the strength to feel more confident.

"When Grandma and Grandpa found out, they worried about you. They even wanted to visit Orange Town to meet your grandmother. But, of course, I stopped them," he laughed before continuing, "At that time, I hadn’t met your grandma yet. How could they meet her before I did?"

Abigail couldn’t hold back her laughter as she watched how annoyed he was.

He continued, "Now, I won’t stop them anymore. If Grandma Sophie lives with us, I’ll gladly arrange their meeting."

"Hmm, it would be fun if they did meet. Besides, I’ve heard my grandma seems to know your grandpa. I hope they still remember each other..." Abigail felt relieved that Sawyer’s grandparents were aware of her family, especially her embarrassing father, and they seemed okay with it.

"I do hope so," Sawyer replied, though he had doubts. When he asked his grandpa about Sophie Lewis, his grandfather hadn’t recalled ever knowing any woman with that name.

Abigail felt relieved about Sawyer’s grandparents, but something still bothered her. She couldn’t help but ask, "What about your mother and father? Do they know yet?"

"It’s not important for them to know. Whether or not they give their blessings, I will still marry you because I only value my Grandma and Grandpa’s opinions. I won’t let my father influence my future decisions..."

Abigail was shocked by Sawyer’s firm words. The light in his eyes clearly showed his deeply rooted feelings, which reflected a hatred toward his father.

She knew that Sawyer despised his father for his past actions, but she didn’t expect him not to share the news with his mother, which worried her.

"Sawyer, I thought you loved your mother. Why aren’t you considering her opinion about our decision to register our marriage sooner than your previous plan?" she asked.

Sawyer didn’t rush to respond. Instead, he turned his gaze to the blue sky as if trying to hide his gloominess. He didn’t want Abigail to see the heaviness in his heart whenever he discussed his parents.

After a moment, Sawyer finally looked back at her before answering. fгeewebnovёl.com

"I love and respect my mother very much. I know; she believes me. And for that reason, she will support whatever decision I make about my future, including who I will marry and when. So it doesn’t matter if I don’t tell her; she will eventually agree. I just worry that if she knew, she would tell my dad. And I really don’t want him to interfere in this matter. So it’s better not to tell her..."

"Will there be no problems later?" Her worries lingered. "I’m sorry to ask more, but I just can’t help it..."

"Abby, please trust me," Sawyer said softly, lifting his hand to smooth the messy hair on her forehead before trailing it down to gently caress her alluring cherry lips. "Don’t think about anything else. Just focus on us, okay?"

Abigail nodded. She felt shy, feeling his thumb on her lips.

This time, she decided to trust him.

They didn’t stay there long, as they needed to hurry to Sawyer’s grandfather’s house for lunch.

Sawyer and Abigail quickly left the building after giving Brody and Vincent a few instructions.

The Jones House.

Abigail and Sawyer arrived just in time for lunch.

Martha was already waiting for them at the door. After urging Sawyer to bring her over, she was excited to see Abigail again.

"Oh, my dear Abigail, you finally came to visit me!" Martha exclaimed happily as she hugged her and led her inside. She held Abigail’s hand tightly and ignored her sulky grandson.

"I’m sorry for coming so late, Grandma." Abigail felt terrible because she knew Martha had always wanted her to visit, but Sawyer had never agreed to return.

"No, no, dear, don’t apologize to me. It’s all Sawyer’s fault. He always claimed he was too busy to bring you," Martha said, glaring at Sawyer as he trailed behind them.

Abigail stifled a laugh when she noticed Sawyer’s face twitch at the scold.

"I’m not the only one who’s busy, Grandma. Abby’s busy too; she’s about to start her own company," Sawyer quickly interjected, successfully redirecting Martha’s attention away from him.

Abigail almost choked at Sawyer’s statement. For the past few weeks, she hadn’t felt busy; she’d mostly spent her time at home or visiting Orange Town to spend time with her grandmother.

"Oh," Martha suddenly stopped, looking at Abigail with curiosity. She squeezed Abigail’s hand and asked, "My dear Abigail, is that true? What kind of company are you starting? Fashion? Food and beverages?"

Martha’s eyes sparkled with excitement, and she was eager to hear about Abigail’s business plans.

Sawyer felt relieved that his grandmother was no longer blaming him and was now focused on talking to Abigail.

However, noticing Abigail was taking too long to respond, he interrupted, "Grandma, can we get lunch now, please? Abigail is already starving..."

"Oh my, oh my! How could I forget? It’s already lunchtime! Come, come," Martha smiled at Abigail and hurriedly led her to the dining table.

Sawyer smiled as he looked at his grandma and Abigail as they walked toward the dining room. He saw his grandfather warmly standing up from his chair to welcome Abigail.

Martha quickly and efficiently set everyone on their seat. She helped Nathaniel, Abigail, and Sawyer put the food on their plates before putting it on her plate. After Nathaniel’s brief prayer, everybody munched their lunch excitedly.

As Abigail chatted with Nathaniel and Martha, Sawyer, who sat beside her, absentmindedly listened to their conversation about her company while continuing to enjoy his meal.

"Abigail, I was surprised to learn you are an interior designer. Sawyer didn’t tell us anything at all," Martha said, clearly amazed by Abigail.

"She is not only an interior designer, my dear, but also an architect," Nathaniel corrected his wife with a smile before turning to Abigail and asking, "Congrats, Abigail. So, where and when are you going to open your office?"
