Chapter 167: Love Nest!

"The fifth floor?"

"Mhmm, yes, it is, dear. The fifth floor. That floor will be our love nest," Sawyer said playfully as he opened the door.

There were stairs leading up.

She stared at them, her heart pounding as she recalled his words word by word: "Our. Love. Nest!"

When she saw him glance at her, she quickly tried to adjust her shy expression and ignored his gaze.

"Abby, when you’re working, I’ll wait for you in our love nest. So—" His words trailed off when he noticed Abigail blushing.

Abigail lowered her head, avoiding eye contact with him as she continued up the stairs, passing him by.

Sawyer hurried to match her pace, a smile tugging at his lips. He decided to stop teasing her, worried she might sulk.

"Don’t you have your own office? Why are you planning to stay in mine during work hours?" she asked, glancing back at him.

Sawyer was taken aback by her question. He hadn’t been frank with her about the company he owned.

"I have some business in a few companies, but I’m not actively working there. I’ve hired professionals to manage it for me. So, I don’t have a specific office to occupy. Before I met you, I spent my time traveling or staying at my cabin in various places."

Abigail sighed silently at his explanation. She already knew he was a lazy investor who let others do the work while he provided the money.

"Yeah, just like me. You’re also my investor..." She laughed as he nodded, confirming her words.

"True. And because my soon-to-be wife has a comfortable office, I want to stay here to keep her company."

Abigail replied, "You mean to spy on me to see if I work diligently?" She narrowed her eyes at him.

"Well, you’re mistaken. I’m here because I’m your husband, not just your investor," he playfully responded. "Maybe my wife is tired and needs someone to massage her shoulders or someone to have lunch with."

Abigail: "..."

When the door opened, Abigail stepped into a vast, modern living room that flowed seamlessly into a contemporary kitchen.

The space was almost entirely surrounded by glass walls, offering a breathtaking view of the entire city.

She was no longer surprised by the interior, as it matched her original design perfectly.

What now captured her attention was the door at the end of the room—the bedroom she had created.

Abigail followed Sawyer to the door, her heart pounding with excitement and nervousness as his words, "Our love nest," echoed in her mind.

As she entered the room, she found herself in a spacious bedroom. It was decorated much like her office downstairs but with a dominant palette of white and soft colors.

Their engagement photos and artwork adorned the white walls while warm wooden floors ran throughout the space.

In the center of the room, a king-size wooden bed draped with a white bedsheet was surrounded by various classic wooden bedroom furnishings. She noticed two doors in one corner that she recognized as the bathroom and the walk-in closet.

"How is the room? Do you like it?"

Sawyer asked, placing his hand on her waist and pulling her closer to stand beside him. He followed her gaze to the king-size bed in the middle of the room, covered in white bedding, which seemed to urge him to throw himself onto it with Abigail in his arms.

The mere thought of sleeping on that bed as husband and wife thrilled him. However, he tried to calm his mind, not wanting the walls he had built to prevent himself from making love to her to come crashing down. He only had two days left before he could express his undying love to her.

"Hmm, I like it. I designed this room exactly how I wanted it." Abigail continued to compliment his team.

"I’m happy to hear you like this bedroom as well. Oh, by the way, I asked them to renovate my bedroom in our house. Once we’re officially married, you will move with me to the third floor."

Abigail was about to open the walk-in closet door, eager to check if it had been made according to her design. However, his words halted her.

Abigail turned to face him. He was so tall that she could only see his collarbones; she had to look up to meet his eyes. freёnovelkiss.com

Looking into the warmth and calmness reflected there, a sudden thought crossed her mind.

"Did your parents or grandparents know about our plan?" she asked, feeling a flutter of worry that there might be rejection if they registered the marriage so hastily without consulting them first.

"My grandparents know. That’s why Grandma insisted I take you to lunch with them today," Sawyer explained.

A wry smile tugged at the corner of his lips, clearly revealing his annoyance at the thought of returning to his grandparent’s house when he only wanted to spend more time with Abigail before they registered their marriage.

Before Abigail could ask further, Sawyer continued, "My mom and dad don’t know yet. I’ll inform them once we are officially married." His smile slowly faded as he noticed the worry in Abigail’s eyes.

"What’s wrong, Abby?" he asked, gently squeezing her hands. Once their eyes met, he added, "Aren’t you happy to meet my grandparents?"

Abigail shook her head slowly before answering, "Of course I’m happy. And I’m not just happy to meet Grandma Martha and your grandfather; I’m ecstatic about it. Still, I wonder if they know about my family, specifically my father..." This was one of her concerns.

She remembered that even Ryland’s parents didn’t really like her because of her family’s reputation.

Sawyer smiled and nodded. "The next morning, after you met them at dinner, I had breakfast with them and explained our relationship and your family background."

Sawyer had chosen to meet them the day after dinner to explain Abigail’s family in detail. He didn’t want Abigail to see their reactions because he feared their negative response would upset her.

He was relieved to think ahead because his grandfather had been shocked and worried to learn that Abigail had such a questionable person as her father.
