Betrayed by Fiance, Embraced by Hidden Tycoon-Chapter 84: My Girlfriend Might Get Jealous!
Chapter 84: My Girlfriend Might Get Jealous!
When Sawyer was still stuck at his grandparents’ house, he took a moment to rest in his bedroom, waiting for the sudden family dinner plan with all his family. But Abigail actually felt the opposite. She didn’t have time to rest.
After cleaning the house, Abigail prepared to head to the café for work. However, when she was about to leave, her phone rang.
When she saw the name on her screen, her heart sank. She lightly patted her head, realizing she had forgotten to block her father’s number.
Abigail felt strange with her father’s phone call. This rarely happened; she could hardly remember the last time her father called. If she wasn’t wrong, the last time was when he threatened her after she decided to move in with her mother to another city a few years ago.
"For God’s sake, Abigail! You finally picked up my call!" Adam Snow’s angry voice on the other end made Abigail want to hang up. She didn’t have time to listen to this man’s insults.
But Adam’s words piqued Abigail’s curiosity just before she tried to end the call.
"I need you to return home, Abigail. There’s something important I need to give you."
Abigail frowned, tightening her grip on her cell phone.
"I don’t need anything from you. Whatever it is, just keep it for yourself!" She refused outright. Never in her wildest dreams did she imagine returning to that dreadful place.
"Look, look at you..." Adam Snow snapped, clearly annoyed. "How dare you disrespect me like that? I’m your father—not your friend, Abigail Snow!"
Abigail chuckled when she heard her father was angry, oddly making her feel better.
"Why, why did I forget that I have a father? Could it be because that man was never there for me when I needed him?" Abigail muttered softly, deliberately talking to herself loudly so her father on the other end could hear.
Satisfied after annoying Adam Snow, Abigail’s smile grew wider as she stepped out of her house. She held back her laughter when she heard Adam’s curse words. It was clear he was highly frustrated. She could imagine his face turning as red as a boiled crab.
"Alright, Sir... please never call me again because I will block your number after this," she said, fueling Adam Snow’s wrath.
"Abigail Snow, now I understand why Ryland Wood left you. You are so incredibly rude to your parents. I’m very disappointed in your mother for raising you to be such a... difficult person! Such a bitch!"
Hearing Adam Snow’s words, Abigail’s smile faded. "Don’t bring my mother into this!" she hissed angrily.
"Bwahaha," Adam’s booming laugh echoed from the other end, enough to make Abigail even more frustrated.
Abigail closed her eyes for a moment before she pushed open the iron door to exit the building, feeling no more reason to talk to this man.
"Listen, I call you now because I wanted to return the precious item that your mother left at home. But after hearing how rude you are, I’d rather burn them!"
Once again, Abigail paused when she heard Adam Snow’s words. She felt tempted to ask what precious item her mother had left for her, but she dismissed the thought a second later. She would never fall into Adam Snow’s trap.
"Just burn it! I don’t care!" Abigail responded, unable to believe Adam Snow’s words. He would have returned them to her years ago if he genuinely held onto her mother’s precious belongings. Why now? Why did he suddenly want to give them back?
She suspected her father wanted her to do something in exchange for the items, so he called her and asked her to return home.
After hanging up, Abigail blocked her father’s number and turned off her cell phone; she didn’t want him to call her again from a different number. She walked quickly toward the gate, but soon after, she heard a man’s voice call her name.
"Miss Abigail, are you going somewhere?"
Abigail glanced at the road and saw Brody driving toward the gate. "Hi, Brody," she replied, continuing to walk as they talked. "Yes, I’m going to the Crimson Leaf Cafe."
"Get in. I’m headed that way," Brody casually offered.
Abigail glanced at her watch and calculated the time. It took her ten minutes to arrive at the Crimson Leaf Cafe. If she took Brody’s car, she would probably come in less than five minutes.
However, getting into his vehicle felt strange since she was unfamiliar with him. They had only met a few times.
"Miss Abigail, you might be late for work," Brody said. His words were enough to make Abigail reconsider. He was right; her time was running thin.
Clenching her fist, Abigail walked toward Brody’s car. She finally decided to accept his offer. It would be impolite to refuse someone’s kindness, after all.
"Thank you, Brody. You are so kind," Abigail replied with a faint smile as she approached the passenger door next to the driver’s side. However, before she could open it, Brody stopped her.
"Miss Abigail, please excuse me, but I must insist that you sit in the back seat," he said firmly with a visibly polite and respectful smile.
Abigail felt a bit confused. How could she let Brody drive her as if he were her chauffeur? Just as she was about to protest, she noticed a hint of pleading in Brody’s gaze—she finally agreed to his request.
"I’m sorry, Miss Abigail. I just thought it best to let you sit in the back by yourself," Brody explained before stepping on the gas to leave the house.
"It’s fine, Brody. Don’t worry," Abigail reassured him with a casual smile.
"My girlfriend might get jealous if she finds out a woman is sitting next to me," Brody added, though he wasn’t entirely honest. He created random excuses, fearing that his boss would be upset if he knew Abigail was sitting in the front seat beside him.
Holding back a laugh, Abigail listened to Brody’s words. She chose not to say anything more during the ride except to thank him sincerely when the car finally arrived at the café.
