Beyond the Apocalypse-Chapter 594: Reaching the city
Chapter 594: Reaching the city
Jormungandr pushed his power to the limit, pushing the strength of his Runic Set to its peak through the use of Depravita Aura. His casting speed accelerated exponentially, allowing him to unleash more than seventy plasma beams in less than three seconds.
The strain on his energy reserves was immense, but it was worth it.
His relentless assault blows up huge pieces of the Giant Elemental’s head, but much more importantly, it hinders both the movement and senses of the creature, creating the perfect opening for Ouroboros and Vlad.
The Depravita of Greed’s eyes were ice-cold, his muscles bulging with explosive force as he triggered his Depraivta Aura, pushing his physical strength several levels up. Every fiber of his being concentrated around his arms as he activated his Runic Set’s kinetic storage, ready to unleash all the energy his divine speed had generated during the fight.
When he finally reached the chest of the Giant Elemental, the Depravita of Greed released all of it in a devastating double-palm strike.
"BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMM!"
A massive explosion echoed across the battlefield as Ouroboros’ attack shattered an enormous section of the Giant Elemental’s torso. A gaping hole formed in its chest, and the six-hundred-meter-tall titan stumbled backward, its very life force dimming.
But things were far from over.
Just as Ouroboros landed, Vlad unleashed all the energy he had gathered into his sword.
A colossal arc of dark energy roared forward, slicing through the air before plunging directly into the hole in the Giant Elemental’s chest.
"BOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!"
A new explosion thundered across the sky as the Depravita of Wrath’s sword strike tore deeper and deeper into the core of the colossal being.
However, despite the devastating wound, the Giant Elemental did not fall.
As the sword energy arc faded, the creature’s eyes locked onto the two warriors who had dared to wound it so grievously.
The Giant Elemental was furious. It raised its massive arms, preparing to unleash its divine retribution upon the two ants who had dared to challenge its might.
Unfortunately for the Giant Elemental, it never got the chance.
Just as it was about to strike, the wound in its chest trembled. In the next second, it expanded violently.
"BOOOOOOMMM!"
A detonating explosion ruptured the Elemental’s torso, the wound spreading in all directions like a spiderweb of destruction. The damage reached such a level that it could only be described as catastrophic.
The hole in its chest completely connected to its back, forming a massive, gaping void through which the entire battlefield could now see.
For a moment, silence fell over the battlefield as broad smiles appeared on the faces of the Sky Seed Depravitas.
Their grins only widened as they saw what was floating within the massive cavity—A fist-sized orb of pure lightning.
This was the Lightning Core—the true heart of the Giant Elemental.
The group’s attacks had not been random.
Their A.I. Chips had long detected the Gaint Elemental’s core, noting that its life essence was not stored in its brain—but in its heart, unlike the rest of the Elementals.
Without wasting a single second, Vlad shifted into a sprinting stance mid-air.
At the exact same moment, Ouroboros—who had just landed behind him—delivered a powerful kick to the sole of Vlad’s foot, launching him forward at blinding speed.
Vlad shot through the massive hole in the Elemental’s chest like a meteor. In one swift motion, he grabbed the Lightning Core, flooding his final surge of Depravita Aura into his hands to completely isolate it from the outside world.
The Giant Elemental froze, and then its gigantic form withered, the light vanishing from its eyes, its body crumbling into dust.
For several moments, absolute silence reigned across the battlefield.
All the other teams had stopped in their tracks, staring at the Depravitas with expressions of shock and awe.
Their teamwork had been flawless. So flawless that it bordered on supernatural.
Such a level of coordination and trust required more than just training. It required an unshakable bond, an absolute understanding of each other’s movements.
Without a shred of hesitation, they had placed their lives in each other’s hands—and in return, they had felled a foe whose power stood at the peak of the Sage Tier.
But it wasn’t just the defeat of the Giant Elemental that caught everyone’s attention. It was what they had taken from it.
The Lightning Core.
Even from a distance, the other teams could feel the overwhelming energy contained within it. But more than just power, the core contained something else.
The faint, elusive essence of the Laws.
Even if it could only provide the most basic introduction to the Law of Lightning, it was still a divine treasure for Sages. Comprehending the Laws was the greatest challenge of all.
It wasn’t something that could be forced.
It wasn’t something that could be instructed.
And it certainly wasn’t something one could gain simply by looking at the sky and watching lightning strike the earth.
But that core provided a direct path into that realm of power, making it a treasure beyond measure.
Greed flickered in the eyes of many. Some even considered taking it by force, but hesitation arose in their hearts.
Because to steal something, you first had to consider the strength of the one you were stealing from. And it was clear to all that the Depravitas were more than capable of defending themselves.
Vlad’s gaze swept over the battlefield. His eyes lingered on Valeria and Decimus, who radiated the most intense greed of all, but he simply sneered.
Then, without another word, he sent the encased Lightning Core into his space ring. Now was not the time to focus on treasure, not when the battlefield was still active.
Regrouping with the others, Vlad and Ouroboros rejoined Fafnir and Jormungandr, along with the Imperial Prince’s team, and continued their advance.
Thanks to the rapid execution of their plan, they had suffered no delays.
And finally, they reached the walls of the massive city. The best part was that they had a massive lead over Valeria, Scipius, and Cato’s team.
