Chapter 142: Seeing Again

Claire’s POV

I hadn’t heard Brad for a few days. Despite seeing more patients and trying to help them, my heart was still hurting. My disappointment was compounded when I learned that Garry hadn’t received any response either. In spite of the fact that I was conscious of how my texts sounded sorrowful at times, I was sincerely heartbroken. Because I was worried about him.

I was astonished when Laura came into my office one day and asked for my help. "Doctor Wilson? Brad was expecting to see you today in the waiting area. He insists it’s an emergency. Please let me know if you’d like to take some time off."

"Yes, Invite him here. Thank you," I murmured after a brief pause. Looking at the blue dress I was wearing, I ran my hand through the frizzy, down-do that had been plaguing my hair that day. It matched his eyes well.

When I heard a tap on the door, I pushed open the door and he entered the room. He walked into my unkempt and dingy office. I didn’t want to think about it, but I thought he was still handsome, only with a little more grit.

Because he hadn’t shaven in a while, Brad’s hair was long and wild on top of his head. As I locked my sight on him, I said, "Brad, It’s been a long time."

The man stumbled forward and sat down in front of me, saying, "It has. I’ve been thinking a lot, he said. I’ve been thinking about everything and drinking myself to sleep every night, and I’m in desperate need of your help. I need your help."

In response to his furrowed eyebrows, I reassured him, "That’s what I do." There were noticeable dark circles under his eyes, and he appeared to be out of shape. Brad’s demeanor suggested that he was in a lot of discomforts. I still harbored feelings for him, but I put them to one side in order to help him. I was able to put everything else behind me.

We rescheduled our appointments and are back on track. During the meeting, Garry expressed his joy and told me that he would be checking in periodically to see how things were progressing. I kept my end of the bargain and didn’t tell anyone what happened. In this case, it was best to leave it alone and spare the sentiments of so many individuals. Even though he was eager to unleash the demons, we took our time and went at his pace. For the time being, we’re still mourning his partner. Even though he was in excruciating pain, the guilt he was feeling overpowered it. Blake rocked back and forth and screamed his way out of my office during other sessions, but he stuck it out.

After that, we talked about his feelings about the murder. After a few visits, we were able to move forward, and he appeared to be lighter in the midst of it all. Brad had shaved and cut his hair once more to resemble the gorgeous man I had originally noticed at the bar that evening.

Even though I knew he would never be the same, I found the concept fascinating. I found this Brad to be more appealing, and I believe he felt the same way. Even infrequently, I threw my two cents in. During our conversation, I told Brad about how much my family had been affected by the death of both my father and my brother. His mouth dropped open as he saw the image I was holding out to him from the edge of my desk.

"Isn’t he your father?"

"Excuse me?"

As I kept my eyes on him, I leaned forward and asked him a question.

"Melvin was my mentor. As soon as I joined the Seals, I met him and he taught me everything I know today." As a tear began to stream down my cheek, Brad’s gaze fixed on me. "I adored him like a father."

"I see a lot of him in you," he tells me.

Suddenly, I found myself sobbing as I shouted, "He was my hero!".

"Also my own. When I found out that my father had died, I was devastated. Because I had to be in another city for work, I was assassinated on the inside. Perhaps we’ve kept in touch over the years since I remember his advice from time to time." Brad said, and I concurred, "He basically told me that it was okay to do what I did for the sake of my brothers, even if I didn’t save all of them. ".

I said, "I guess we were destined to meet later." when he lifted a dark eyebrow. I watched as he rose up and walked around my desk to face me, saying, "Brad, I was a disaster."

"Me too." 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

"I missed you so much," I said, rising from my chair and looking into his eyes. To soothe my sobs, he caressed my cheek and pressed his thumbs against my eyes. "When I thought about you, I couldn’t sleep."

He wept and said, "I missed you greatly," as he looked me in the eyes. My sobs became a little more strident. "I can’t stay away from you, baby," he whispered in my ear as he pressed his lips to mine and I put my arms around his neck to kiss him back. Only our connection was present in this room, where we shouldn’t be doing this, but I didn’t care. After weeks of studying his muscles from beneath his clothes, I forced my body up against the warmth. We made up for lost time with each passionate kiss. Then, with a wry smile, I drew away from him and looked into his face. "Brad, I’m in trouble."

"I need you, Claire," he said, drawing his lip tight between his teeth. "Would you be able to lend a hand this weekend? I need your strength."

"Yes. I will always be here for you," I promised him as I gave him another kiss and sobbed my heart out. This made me cry since it brought back memories of my father’s death, so I laughed against his lips. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine falling in love with a soldier Ever. "Brad, I love you, despite what my family has been through."

Then he added, "I love you," and kissed me again to make me feel better. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and allow him to work on me from the inside out.

As we kissed one another, we both burst into tears and felt a new connection. A thing that has been made better.
