Birthing Legends: My Womb Creates SSS Monsters-Chapter 94: S Rank Adventurers Party Infiltrate the Shellgrave Cave.
While Maddy’s family bathed in the light of a new world, Erwin’s party moved cautiously through the Glow Garden of Area 2. Normally, this sector was a deadly, vibrant trap—swarming with oversized insects, predatory reptiles, and territorial amphibians. But today, the only sound was the soft clink of their armor.
Gela, the cleric, scanned the shimmering flora with wary eyes. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"Something’s wrong... This place is usually crawling with monsters. Where are they? It’s like someone came through here with a giant scythe and just... harvested everything."
Behind her, Ed looked noticeably uneasy. He walked slowly, clutching his arms as if he were cold, shivering with every step.
"Oh gods... please," he whispered. "Please let there be no insects... please..."
Lita quietly crept up behind him, wiggling her fingers mischievously. Then she tapped his shoulder.
"BOO!"
Ed released the thinnest, most high-pitched scream imaginable.
"AAAHHHHH!!!"
Even Zaun—normally silent and observant, instantly dropped into a fighting stance, unsheathing his dagger in one smooth motion.
Lita burst into uncontrollable laughter. Ed, meanwhile, stood frozen in place like a statue. Gela sighed and gently placed a hand on his shoulder, her staff glowing softly as she channeled a calming healing light into him.
"Such a child, Lita. You know Ed is terrified of insects. He could literally die if he saw one."
Lita shrugged.
"Oh, come on. This quest has been nothing but a stroll. Why not have a little fun?"
Gela shot her a sharp look.
"This boy has a real phobia of insects. You shouldn’t make fun of someone’s phobia. That’s just cruel."
"Blah blah blah, whatever you say," Lita waved her off. "Then why did he even become an adventurer? And look where we are—the land of giant insects!"
She gestured around the eerily empty garden.
"He’s actually lucky today. The ’big boss’ deeper in this hellhole must be a neat freak. Maybe whatever lives down there wanted to make sure we had a nice, safe stroll... before its pest exterminators arrived."
Her words were met with a few skeptical glances from the others. Erwin shot Lita a glance, his eyes narrowing slightly.
"Keep your wits about you. Overconfidence is dangerous in a place like this. We move forward, carefully. Let’s not underestimate whatever did this."
Lita shrugged, clearly unbothered, her smirk never wavering.
"Sure, sure, Captain. I’m just saying... we might be overthinking this."
But even she couldn’t hide the glint of wariness in her eyes as they pressed on, deeper into the unnervingly quiet Glow Garden.
They reached the final archway, the entrance to the Suzerain Spider’s Nest. This was the legendary choke point of the Shellgrave. For decades, the Guild had marked this area in blood red on every map.
Erwin stopped at the edge of the massive, silk-choked arena, his eyes scanning the eerily silent expanse.
"This is it... This was the well known legendary choke point of the Shellgrave."
Lita, never one to pass up an opportunity to break the tension with her arrogant confidence, scoffed and crossed her arms.
"But there are no spider eggs. Those feared thousands of weapon limbed spiderlings that usually swarmed these walls... where are they? Even that big mama spider is gone... That old fart’s rumors was true. This is really all pointing out to..."
Her voice trailed off as she surveyed the empty nest. The once thriving ecosystem of deadly spiders was now barren. The webs were either missing or crumbling to dust, and there wasn’t even a faint movement to suggest the presence of the monstrous arachnids.
Erwin’s face tightened as he surveyed the area. His grip on his claymore tightened, and his posture stiffened.
"Something’s wrong. We’re not the first to set foot here recently."
Gela stepped forward, trying to ease the tension with a practical explanation.
"Or maybe... some locals or adventurers have been coming and going. You know, they say the Suzerain Spider was guarding this place because it’s actually called the Mineral Hole—full of thousands of magic minerals. Once that news got out, maybe everyone is hoarding those minerals elsewhere."
Ed nodded, backing her up, though his eyes still flicked around the shadowed corners of the nest.
"That makes sense. Without the Suzerain Spider, the weapon limbed spiderlings wouldn’t respawn. Only ordinary base form spiders would appear here, so adventurers could safely move through... at least for now."
Erwin exhaled slowly, keeping his focus sharp.
"Stay alert. Explanations are one thing... reality is another."
Nearby, Lita groaned.
"Arghhh, this is sooo boringggg."
Erwin shot Lita a sharp glance.
"Lita, quit complaining. Just because it’s quieter doesn’t mean we’re safe. Stay focused."
But Lita was too hyped up, pacing in irritation.
"I’m serious! I thought this was going to be the most epic dungeon crawl ever, with explosions and monsters jumping out at us! But no—just empty halls and no real action!"
She threw her hands up dramatically.
"WHERE ARE YOU, MONSTERS!? WHERE’S THE CHALLENGE?!"
The party moved forward cautiously. The descent into Area 3 felt like entering the deepest part of the earth itself. The air grew thin and hot as they continued downward. All of them felt the sudden change in the oxygen.
Lita wiped sweat from her brow, her voice dripping with irritation.
"Oh God... I just stepped in here for a second and my entire body feels drenched in sweat!"
Gela fanned her face with a practiced flick of her hand, her tone measured.
"Those plants in the Glow Garden made it cooler and breathable, but down here... this air is suffocating."
Lita stomped her foot, glancing upward at the high cavern ceiling.
"And we need to hurry! Whatever is causing that wild mana spike above, whatever is responsible, we need to find it before it gets worse!"
Erwin unrolled the parchment map, the faint glow of magical ink illuminating the group in the dim light. His finger traced the markings carefully.
"The Guild’s records end here. They call this place the Mineral Hole. According to the archives, it was supposed to be a network of narrow, winding tunnels. Right now, we’re in the middle area. From here, the path descends further... into the lower section."
He paused briefly, scanning the map again.
"That’s the area the Guild marked as our destination. Our mission is to investigate whatever’s down there."
Ed leaned closer, his goggles reflecting the glowing ink.
"So the Guild thinks something is waiting for us down there..."
Lita groaned, brushing a strand of sweat from her forehead.
"Finally... maybe some actual monsters will show up now. I was starting to think this dungeon was just a nice, quiet walk."
Erwin rolled up the map, slinging his claymore over his shoulder.
"Keep your formation tight and your senses sharper. Whatever waits below... we’ll face it together."
