[BL] Mr. Romano Contracted Husband-Chapter 82: He Is... My Son?
Due to Arcane’s increasingly worrying condition, Julian and Donald decided to take him to the hospital to be treated by a doctor. Using his car, Donald drove quickly but carefully until they arrived at the hospital.
Although his mind was still a little confused by Julian and Arcane’s knowledge about Wilona, he tried to put those thoughts aside for the time being and prioritize Arcane’s safety.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Arcane was immediately treated by nurses and doctors, who administered an IV and examined him. Fortunately, he did not have an infection, but his fever was quite high.
"It’s better for him to be treated at the hospital for two to three days until his fever subsides. We will check on him periodically. If anything happens, call us immediately," said the doctor.
"Thank you, Doctor," said Julian, then he looked at his husband who was still lying unconscious on the hospital bed.
He felt so worried, not expecting Arcane to faint like that. He could only hope that he would be okay and open his eyes as usual.
Donald remained silent, observing Arcane’s calm face. His eyes were closed, making his own worries grow.
He then turned to Julian, something inside him screaming to ask about their previous conversation.
"I know this isn’t the right time. But can you tell me what you know about Wilona? And how did you and Mr. Romano find out about it?" he asked cautiously.
Feeling that Arcane already knew about this, Julian finally said that Wilona was actually Arcane’s mother.
"Arcane is her son. As you suspected at first, although it seems like a coincidence, it’s not. He really is her son," Julian explained, stroking the head of his husband, who was currently lying weak.
Before Donald could respond, Julian spoke again, turning to him.
"And... you are his father, Mr. Stamford. You are... his biological father."
His eyes widened in shock when he heard his words. His body instantly became so stiff, as if he had frozen in place after learning the truth. Julian finally explained to the old man about how Wilona came to have Arcane.
From the events of prom night, to Wilona being kicked out by her parents after they found out she was pregnant.
"She chose to protect your baby and your reputation, then left to raise him alone. Arcane was born, knowing only his mother and not his father." Julian said this with sadness every time he remembered the story. "When Arcane was 16, Wilona left him forever."
Donald, who had been frozen in silence, now fell to his knees in front of Julian. He was shocked and immediately approached the older man, who covered his face and cried.
He cried at everything Julian told him. The reality that the woman he loved had been raising his child alone without him knowing about Arcane’s existence all this time. The reality that the woman was gone forever, and he would never see her again.
He took out a photo of them together and hugged it.
"Why... Why didn’t you tell me this..." he cried at that moment.
It was a painful cry, a reality he had to accept after decades of no one ever telling him this. Thinking that Wilona had found someone she loved more and had a perfect life. But the reality was that she had to struggle alone to raise Arcane until death took her.
Julian, feeling sorry for him, knelt beside him and rubbed the back of his husband’s father. He knew they would definitely get this kind of reaction if Donald found out the truth.
"You should have told me... My Wilona..."
"Now she’s gone to heaven. But... Arcane is here. He came just to find out about you. He wants to know the man his mother loved... I hope you understand..." Julian patted him on the back, trying to calm him down.
Donald immediately got up from his kneeling position on the floor and held Arcane’s hand. One of his hands trembled as he reached for the face of the man who was still unconscious. He realized that he was his son, whom he had never known about.
The son of the woman he loved so much, even to this day. Tears continued to flow from his aging eyes. But new hope could be seen in those eyes. Hope that he could be with Arcane, present in his life after so long of never being there for him.
"Forgive me... Please forgive me..." he whispered as he stroked his face and head.
The same beautiful red hair as hers, something that remained of her that he could feel at this moment.
"I knew it, you have a face that resembles hers, though your eyes... Your eyes are truly mine... Forgive me for not realizing it from the start... I was indeed foolish..."
Julian let him stay close to Arcane, because he didn’t want to ruin this moment even though Arcane couldn’t respond to his words.
Three hours passed, and Arcane slowly regained consciousness and looked around. His head didn’t hurt as much as before, and he realized that he was now in the hospital.
He turned his head and saw Julian sitting and playing with his cell phone. Realizing that he had woken up, Julian immediately smiled with relief and held his hand.
"Arcane! Can you hear me? Hey!" he called out.
"I can hear you. I just have a fever, I’m not deaf. You don’t need to shout that loud," replied Arcane, which was met with Julian laughter.
Sighing, Arcane asked again about thsm being in the hospital. Julian explained that it was his father who had brought them to the hospital. That was why Arcane was here now.
Remembering his father, Arcane fell silent for a moment after remembering what they had been talking about before he fainted. He remembered that the man had said he still loved Wilona even now.
He even still remembered that name, had her photo, which he had been carrying in his jacket pocket all along.
Noticing Arcane’s silence after he mentioned Donald, Julian began to explain that he had told the middle aged man what had happened.
"He cried, kneeling before you and weeping over everything that had happened. He even hugged you when you were still unconscious. He kept whispering apologies and saying that you really did resemble your mother, even though you had eyes like his," he explained.
Somehow, Julian’s explanation gradually calmed Arcane’s feelings. It was as if he had finally found the answer he had been searching for all these years since his mother’s death.
The fact that the man still loved her, just as she had never stopped remembering him.
"Even though they still loved each other, death had separated them both."
