Chapter 132: Ch 132: Pleasant Dream

Shuu was not fond of silences, and this one did not seem to make him feel better either. He twisted and turned around until he could finally move a little.

But his body and mind had a huge disconnect. Not to mention, he was losing his power.

"Is this... still a dream?"

He asked, but no one answered. So he decided to relax and think things through. But not even a whole minute passed before he felt his breath getting short, and he coughed, only for something to clog his mouth.

’W-What-!’

The door to his room was slammed open, and a familiar person ran in. This time, it was Nero, and he looked exactly as he did in the current times.

"Hey, hang on-! Don’t you dare-!"

"Nero, give me space. Shuu, are you alright? Shuu-?"

The red-eyed person from before shoved Nero aside and ran into the room. His eyes looked at Shuu with so much concern that Shuu felt his pain running away.

"I..."

Shuu tried to speak, but it was hard for him to keep his eyes open.

A hand gripped his own tightly, and he blinked as he looked at the stranger who seemed to be crying for him.

"I know. You don’t have to say anything, Shuu. It will all be fine. The preparations are complete, and soon, we will be able to meet each other again. I will make sure to find you once we are reborn."

The man promised as he clutched Shuu’s hand, but Shuu was starting to slip.

"I will scatter my power throughout this broken world and repair it. And one day, we both will become one and then live happily..."

Whatever the man was telling Shuu must be important. But what a shame that Shuu could no longer hear any of it.

His ears rang, and his eyes finally closed, and Shuu painlessly closed his eyes for the last time...

And then the pain started. His soul felt like it was on fire, and Shuu thrashed.

He tried to get away from the pain, but it was of no use.

"-UU"

"-HUU"

"-SHUU-"

The loud voice tried to grab Shuu’s attention, but it was tough for him to focus on it. His mind was slipping, and his body ached.

"Shuu-! Wake up-!"

The familiar voice called out to him, and two pairs of soft hands grabbed his own before he woke up and saw Rin and Caelis’s faces... along with Lady Canarie’s.

"You woke up... wahhhh"

Caelis had tears falling down his eyes, and Rin looked ready to cry as well. Shuu blinked as he looked at the pair in his arms.

"C-Companion Shuu, are you alright? You sounded like you were dying..."

Lady Canarie asked as she looked over Shuu. Her eyes looked curious, but Shuu ignored them and looked at the kids in his arms.

Holding the kids made him feel much more grounded. He finally felt like he was back where he was supposed to be.

"I am fine. The sun is going down. It seems like dinner time is approaching. We should get going now."

He told the kids, and they nodded before they followed him inside as well.

No one turned to look back at Lady Canarie, and she sighed.

’I knew it won’t be easy to get the kids to warm up to me, but I will get it done one way or another.’

After all, this was why she had approached the kids in the first place.

__________

Lady Canarie did not have much of a plan when she first entered the imperial palace, but she was beginning to develop one quickly.

She had left her room with the intent to befriend the people around the imperial castle. But more importantly, she wanted to focus on the kids and get closer to them.

Luckily for her, she had found the kids playing in the garden, and she had decided to approach them.

It was not often that the kids were outside without Shuu, and now was the perfect time to influence these kids into seeing her as a responsible adult they could rely on.

"Hello, kids. Do you remember me? I am Canarie Lorutz, Princess Danielle’s cousin. Do you want to become friends with me?"

She made sure to address her relation to Princess Danielle first to get close to the kids. She did not want to make a bad impression on them so quickly.

But the kids were a tougher challenge than she expected.

Rin looked too shy to look at her properly, and as for the crown prince... he did not even look at her.

"Rin, there-! Flowers-!"

Prince Caelis pretended she was not even there and dragged Rin to the other side.

It made Canarie’s pride take a fall, but she quickly recovered from it. She knew this was not going to be easy for her anyway.

"Are you both close to your father and Shuu? You must love them a lot. But what about a mother? Don’t you wish to have a mother as well? I can be that for you if you like-"

"No-! Shuu is mother... and father. Don’t want you."

Prince Caelis was adamant, but at least he was talking to her. Canarie was sure that she would be able to win him over in time.

"Aww, don’t be like that. You are saying this just because you don’t know what a ’real mother’s’ touch is. If you give me a chance-"

Her words got caught in her throat as soon as she looked at the expression on Prince Caelis’s face.

The one-year-old child looked like he could kill her and make it such that her body would never be found.

Lady Canarie unconsciously felt her hands reach for her throat to make sure it was still intact.

"Leave."

The single word had so much impact that Canarie felt like she could not disobey. Her body and instincts both were telling her that she should obey and leave as she was asked to.

She turned around to leave, but then the noise coming from the other side of the garden became worse, and she decided to follow the worried kids, only to come across Shuu’s sleeping form.
