[BL]The Hero and his Party Won't Let Me Go-Chapter 144: Ch : Love is Worth Fighting for
"I... sister, what should I do? I like him so much already, and yet... he refuses to look at me..."
Lady Canarie cried as she felt her heart hurting. She did not even know why or when she had fallen in love like this. She did not even know that it had been possible for her to fall like this.
But as soon as she had seen the Emperor, her world had shifted, and everything inside her had told her that the Emperor was her destiny.
She had his mark, and even the goddess approved. So why? Why was she feeling like her heart was breaking this badly...
Why did the Emperor, her partner, not even look at her? It was agonizing... but she still could not give up on him.
"Canarie, it will all be alright. The Emperor is just confused right now. But don’t be mistaken. He is your partner chosen by the goddess. Sooner or later, he will look at you. So keep hanging in until then."
Princess Danielle assured her, and Canarie gave her a smile.
They both knew that Princess Danielle did not mean a word of what she said. She had only said this because this was what was required of her.
And yet, those poisonously sweet words spread their venom through Canarie and kept her hope alive.
"Y-You are right. I cannot give up so soon. After all, love is something worth fighting for, right?"
She asked, and Princess Danielle nodded.
"That’s right. Just keep hanging in there, and soon, Emperor Kaiden will look your way. For now, we should finish preparing for the tea party tomorrow."
Princess Danielle changed the topic, and the pair went back to shopping.

"I missed you so much. Ugh, why do I have to work all the time? I just want to stay by your side and worship you. Maybe I should think of ways to pass the throne... hmm, would a fake death do? I can fake my death and then kidnap you...."
Shuu heard Emperor Kaiden’s rambling for a few more seconds before he sighed and reached for him.
Emperor Kaiden fell silent as soon as Shuu’s hands touched his cheeks, and he gave Shuu a searching glance.
"Are you alright? You feel like you are on the edge. Did something happen?"
Shuu had been with Emperor Kaiden for over a year, but somehow, he could tell when Emperor Kaiden was forcing himself to behave a certain way.
His face and voice did not show much, but the darkness behind his eyes betrayed him and made Shuu feel sorry for him.
"Huh-! What do you mean? I am perfectly fine, as you can see. Don’t worry about me... Or is it something that you want to tell me?"
Emperor Kaiden paused and gave Shuu a searching look. It was clear by his words and actions that he did not want to worry Shuu, nor did he want to tell Shuu what was going on with him.
Shuu understood that it was for his own good. But that did not mean he did not feel disappointed by all this.
Emperor Kaiden flinched at Shuu’s sigh, but he pretended not to notice. He decided to change the awkward subject to something more light-hearted.
"Shuu, about the tea party tomorrow... do you have a partner? I-If not-!"
"Of course I have a partner. Why would I not?"
Shuu cut Emperor Kaiden off, and his easy-going nature made the Emperor pause.
The air turned tense once more, and Shuu noticed how the nearby guard flinched when they looked at him. Shuu could not help but shake his head at what was happening.
"Who is your partner? Did someone ask you to go with them? Can you give me a name-"
"Kaiden, I was under the assumption that you would be accompanying me to the tea party. But if you are busy, I can always ask someone else..."
"No-! I am free tomorrow. I will come."
Emperor Kaiden immediately replied, and Shuu nodded.
Shuu had actually wanted to make Kaiden his partner from the start. But Kaiden had not asked until now, so all Shuu could do was assume that they would be partners. But the longer he waited to be asked, the more hopeless it felt.
In the end, Shuu was the one who had ended up asking anyway... not that he felt ashamed of it. Especially when it made Emperor Kaiden grin like a fool.
"Ah, I finally get to accompany you officially to an event. I cannot wait to be alone with you-"
"What do you mean alone? We will have Caelis and Rin with us as well. We can make it a family outing."
Shuu told the Emperor, but Kaiden’s smile did not falter even a bit.
"I see. Then it is a family outing. But once the kids tire themselves out and go to sleep, can I have you for myself? I want you to pay attention to me too."
Emperor Kaiden’s arms felt soft, and his pout felt a little too much.
Shuu could already see the guard looking away from this scene and trying their best not to show their reactions.
And honestly, he understood as well.
"I understand. I promise I will spend some time with you after the kids go to sleep. But for now, should we head back?"
Shuu asked, and Emperor Kaiden nodded and followed him eagerly.
He almost looked like a huge puppy with the way he walked after Shuu. It was easy to imagine Emperor Kaiden with a wagging tail as he followed Shuu.
Of course, no one dared to do that because they cared for their lives and wanted to maintain their Emperor’s dignity.
But one thing was becoming clearer in everyone’s mind—Emperor Kaiden was not going to give Shuu up, no matter what.
A change in prophecy or even being chosen by the goddess did not matter. Emperor Kaiden had made it clear who he liked, and everyone else would have to respect it.
Otherwise, they might disappear in the middle of the night as well.
