Broken Story: Reborn as a Villainess Author-Chapter 43: Error
William’s eyes opened slowly. He felt hands on his shoulders, shaking him with urgency.
Dalia’s face hovered above him, depression plastered around her eyes. Behind her, Alackster stood, looking down at him.
"Finally," Dalia said, taking her hands away from his shoulders. "You’ve been out for a while."
William blinked, trying to observe the situation. His side where the wound had been still hurt, but he could not feel the texture of it anymore, neither was there blood anywhere on his clothes.
The injury had vanished.
"What happened?" he said, holding his head.
"We don’t know..." Alackster replied. "I woke up first, then Dalia."
"I tried waking Arlo... But he won’t budge." Dalia looked towards Arlo’s dormant body.
"Where’s Acheron?" William asked, looking around.
Dalia glanced back to the spot where they last saw her before they fell unconscious. "Haven’t seen her."
"Me neither," Alackster added. "She wasn’t here when I woke up."
William got to his feet, stumbling as he balanced himself.
’Where could big sis be...?’
...
The limbs of the Hollow’s Womb began to move in different directions. It moved before, but this time faster than usual and in a certain manner.
It was compressing itself.
Acheron on the resting ground was still at it with the three men.
Poof!
Morena appeared in a puff. She was annoyed at how she failed at three attempts to capture the minds of regular academy students.
’What sort of...!’ She stomped the ground in anger, the effect shaking the entire womb.
She took a moment to pause and looked at Acheron. They were still going, and this even shocked Morena.
’Did she trigger the punishment just to continue? This girl is a sicko!’ Morena thought.
Acheron managed to turn her eyes towards her as a mischievous grin formed on her face.
Snap!
Morena dispersed the three men in an instant.
"You’re enjoying this, aren’t you..."
Acheron’s mouth was filled. She opened it, letting the pale fluid flow out.
Then she spoke:
"Mm... Please bring them back!" Her expression was filled with lustful intentions, and even still, Morena could not penetrate her mind.
Morena’s expression darkened as she stared down at the exhausted girl.
"If I can’t enter your mind, then you are useless to me..." Morena said, raising her hand towards Acheron.
A red beam formed on Morena’s palm, condensing her mana into a sphere.
The light cast shadows across Acheron’s naked body, growing bigger with each second as Morena prepared to release it.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, two figures formed out of nothing and stretched their hands forward, forming a barrier.
Boom!
The beam collided with the barrier, causing a loud explosion.
After the smoke had faded, the two figures were clearer in sight.
"O... Ophelia... Stellar...?" Acheron muttered weakly.
Standing in front of her, Ophelia and Stellar glowed glamorously, dispersing their joint barrier.
『Don’t worry, Acheron... We got this!』 Ophelia said optimistically.
Morena took a closer view at them, then narrowed her eyes.
"You finally showed yourselves... I knew there was something blocking me... What’s so precious about her mind?"
「You can’t possibly fathom, beast.」 Stellar looked at Morena with disgust.
Morena placed her hand on her face as she laughed slightly.
"Interesting... Now I’m even more curious..."
Boom!
In an instant, Morena’s head was wiped clean off.
Stellar’s hand was held up. She had had enough.
「Silence, succubus.」
Morena’s severed head faded away into tiny particles followed by a strange giggle.
"Hehe... Sorry, but... It’s going to take more than that to take me down..."
Morena’s severed head began to regenerate at an insane rate.
This scene didn’t shock Stellar in the slightest. Instead, she looked around above and beyond. This was all Morena’s space.
Just like her own domain, Morena was basically invincible here.
Acheron tried to speak, but exhaustion caught up with her and she fell unconscious.
Stellar raised her hand once more, forming another beam.
「We’ll see...」
Morena’s amused smile grew wider.
"Fine by me, hehehe."
She began to walk slowly towards Stellar. From a distance, another step she took made her appear in front of Ophelia.
Stellar matched her speed, blocking her attack with her beam.
Morena dodged it, and the impact sent a shockwave around the entire womb.
「Get Acheron out of here...!」 Stellar said.
Ophelia moved on command. She scooped Acheron in her arms and flew upward away from the battlefield.
As they ascended far enough where Ophelia could watch from above, a limb of the womb spawned out of nowhere, aiming for the both of them.
"Running won’t help... Hehe." Morena dodged a few more of Stellar’s attacks.
The limbs of the womb began to move in a twisted manner like massive serpents, reaching out for Ophelia and Acheron.
『Rem no van din virera!』
A holy barrier formed around them, tanking all the attacks.
Morena leaped into the air. She began to split herself apart, making more copies of herself. One became two, two became four, four became hundreds, and within the time span of seconds, millions of copies surrounded Stellar.
"Let’s see how you fare being attacked by millions..." They spoke in unison, creating an everlasting echo through the space.
The copies came in from every direction, thousands moving at the same time.
Stellar dodged and countered every single one, dominating with her speed as she destroyed them one after the other.
However, the more she killed, the more they kept respawning, creating an endless loop.
Ophelia flew through the chaos, weaving between attacks as she kept Acheron safe in her arms while shooting beams of light at the copies that came her way.
Slash!
A cut formed from behind on Stellar’s cheek. She was suddenly struggling against Morena’s overwhelming power.
By that time, millions had become billions.
"What’s the matter? Am I a little too much for you?" The copies smiled and continued their assault.
Stellar teleported from the center of the chaos, appearing above all the copies.
She touched her cheek, rubbing the area where she was cut.
「How disgraceful... A lower being such as yourself could harm me like this.」 she declared.
She looked back at the crowd and raised her hand towards the sky.
She started channeling power from the tip of her hand, but this power didn’t contain mana or Arcana energy.
This power was far different from anything Morena had ever seen. Stellar closed her eyes and opened them. They brightened in divine light.
Then she spoke:
「Vano cas Le Ken no vannr Valeria!」
These words differed from a regular spell chant. This was the ancient language of the gods in all its majesty.
Normal spells connect the user’s mana to the actual spell to create an output result. The language of the gods cancels the middle and previous process.
It is a direct call to the spell, forcing it to come and manifest of its own accord without the use of any mana.
Such language had only been used by the gods of ancient times.
In the depths of Acheron’s mind, Shinra’s eyes widened in shock. He felt a power similar to his father’s.
Above Stellar, a rift tore open within the reality of the Hollow’s Womb.
And from it came a being so chaotic, its arrival corrupted the space around it, decaying reality as it descended.
Its massive shadow covered the whole womb, no matter how infinite it was.
The creature that emerged was colossal. Its body was covered in flames and eyes burning with dark overflow. It had the form of a dragon. However, its scales did not line up in order. They were scattered all around in pure chaos.
At its back, seven wings opened. It was so huge that even after a large portion of its body descended into the womb, more still remained behind the rift.
The real Morena reappeared at a distance and stared at the otherworldly entity. Her face, which had carried amusement and joy, turned to fear and agony.
"W-W-What is that..."
She began to move back instinctively. She was sure she saw the beast... In fact, she could be fully certain she saw this beast.
But...
She did not feel its presence at all. It was there but at the same time, it wasn’t there.
It didn’t exist... Or rather, its form was never supposed to exist within this plane of reality, or even this world as a whole.
A system notification came through to Stellar, glitching as it wrote several texts on a translucent panel.
[Err...or... Astr... Err..or]
This wasn’t the system she made for Acheron. This was the system of the story itself.
A guideline set by other gods to prevent beings beyond this scale from descending, and it still struggled to keep its form in the presence of this monster.
Stellar looked down at Morena’s expression and smiled, dropping her hand towards the copies.
「Descend, I beg you, end of all things... Forgotten Omega.」
Her voice was calm as she addressed the being with utmost respect.
The system panel finally stabilized as the being stopped moving.
The message it relayed could be seen clearly.
[You have summoned a being far beyond this plane...]
