Mu Yuze stared at him wide-eyed, unblinking. He did not even breathe. He Juan waited for the answer that did not come and eventually, he became worried that he had somehow broken Mu Yuze beyond repair...

Grasping Mu Yuze’s chin, he shook it lightly. "Xiao Ze?"

Mu Yuze inhaled sharply. He Juan saw as understanding dawned on him through his dilated pupils and his quivering exhale. Mu Yuze could not seem to regain his senses even after trying. Amused, He Juan played with the soft strands of his hair and caressed the smooth surface of his cheek with a thumb. "So, aren’t you going to give me an answer?" Mu Yuze must have sensed the teasing in his tone because he squeezed his eyes shut firmly as though trying to gather whatever scattered thoughts that remained in his frenzied mind. "You..." He stuttered out. "I thought... you’re here to... apologize."

"For... whatever you said yesterday."

He Juan let out a sigh. No wonder Mu Yuze had been acting so defensive against him. Had he always thought that He Juan was going to take back whatever he had declared yesterday? Helpless, He Juan once again shook his chin in gentle admonishment. "What kind of Alpha am I in your eyes, Xiao Ze? Am I such a jerk?"

The more He Juan thought about it, the gloomier his mood was. He wished he could find the three Alphas who had knocked on Mu Yuze’s window to teach them a lesson one by one and—

He Juan’s eyes flew open in shock and his breathing ceased sharply. What did Mu Yuze mean by that? Could he be... Hope started to sprout in his heart. Well, it had been, ever since Mu Yuze shoved him the drink, cleaned his stained clothes with tissue, and did not punch him straight on the face after he had forcefully kissed him without consent. But now, the hope quickly shot up into a towering tree, each lush leaf glistening with fresh dew and blooming with enticing flowers.

Mu Yuze’s breath hitched on his throat as he grumbled with a quiet voice, huffing and puffing. "...And you said you’re not a jerk."

He Juan couldn’t help it. He burst out into a fit of hearty laughter, so intense that his whole body shook from the force of his laugh. He could not remember the last time he had laughed so happily like this. His whole body felt as light as a feather, so energized he felt like he could go through another two sessions of regular check ups without complaining.

Goodness... how could this man be so damn adorable?! He just could not comprehend it. Truth to be told, He Juan did not consider himself as a tease but for some reason, it all came out naturally when he faced Mu Yuze. He Juan just wanted to tease him all the time, to pull out many reactions from him and see his face flushed that brilliant shade of red again and again...
