Chapter 35: Shattered mind.

What happened next wasn’t exactly how César had planned everything. At least, it wasn’t part of the plan to kill anyone, he only looked at the map to find a clothing store so he could quickly change his outfit and blend in more with the civilians. That way, if the police came after him, it would be much harder to find him... but no, it turned into a whole different story.

But he was still calm, thinking hard about who to choose, he remembered the old face and somehow Jessica was still on his mind. But the dozen emergency sirens and even a helicopter up in the skies quickly pushed Jessica out of his thoughts.

"I hope they don’t start searching for me already." He whispered.

[System: It would be better to hope for a better chief, one that may offer a deal.]

"Uhm, true... let’s hope the next one isn’t going to be like Daniel."

[System: Maybe that would actually be good. You’d finally be in your top form, once again having a complete psychological meltdown.]

"It only happened because I was weak." César said, but this time, something was different. His voice wasn’t low, it was almost scared and maybe a little afraid... afraid of what had happened.

Back in his very first life, Daniel, the chief of police, had been ruthless, like the Gestapo and the worst part was that he was after César. But unlike a normal officer, Daniel took a far darker approach.

His mindset was to break his enemies, the enemies of the government, not by confronting them head-on, sending in raid teams, and killing them, but by using rat-like tactics...the worst of the worst.

Using civilians and staging attacks and after a few of those attacks, he succeeded. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

Everything he did got into César’s head, and of course it did. At that time, César was new to the whole idea that he was in Sandria, barely understanding it and the top of that Danile was doing the worst fucking things poosible.

What broke César was the murdered children left on the streets, the schools bombed, the mass shootings... and after all that, the police and the media said it was all him and the Sierra Cartel. That it was all him.

Yeah, Daniel, along with the police, had killed innocent women and children to blame it all on César and it was simply too much. His mind shattered, splintering into fragments that no longer knew how to fit together. A game, NPCs, scripted, codes, nah... he understood that it was the reality, and that was too much to handle... but maybe that was the best thing that happened to him.

Because in the trauma, in the shock those fragments built back up, and it wasn’t the César who once felt responsibility or carried even a trace of humanity within him. That man was gone. What remained was someone entirely different, a man stripped of his humanity, and within two days Daniel was caught by the Sierra Cartel.

How funny... in two fucking days, and his ass was caught.

Then justice came. Though it wasn’t justice for César... no, it was pleasure and happiness.

Four horses were chained to Daniel’s wrists and ankles, and when the whip struck the horses, one of the most brutal and gruesome deaths imaginable was carried out... an old-fashioned execution, but fascinating.

And what added even more pleasure, not just for César, but for the families of Daniel’s victims was the fact that he had been tortured for weeks before his execution.

One of César’s men was responsible for doing whatever he wanted to Daniel, and he certainly did. First was the so-called "gourmet menu."

Basically, Daniel’s penis and testicles were surgically removed with precision and care, ensuring he would survive. Then they were put into a blender, mixed together, and he was forced to... consume it.

But everything had a purpose, a meaning behind it.

Daniel had loved assaulting women and worse, even underage ones, so the punishment didn’t stop at the testicle mix, nah it was the beginning of it.

To make him feel what his victims had felt, four large men, each with massive dicks were chosen to "play" with him for days... and all of it was recorded in the highest resolution possible and with microphones that picked up every single voice, screed and agony that came from Daniel.

Then the videos were shared online, sent to high-ranking officials who were supervising him as a threat and the main event, when his body was ripped apart, was hacked into the national television channels.

But then it spiraled out of control. It wasn’t anger in César, no, it was something else, like a force behind him, driving him to clean the capital of these motherfuckers, to make every one of them suffer, to be the one to wipe up the mess.

He declared war on the police, killing hundreds of them, torturing them, burning them alive, chopping off their heads while they were still alive. He went too far against the police, so much that the mafia and other cartels took control of important assets, and part of the city and in the end, he was killed by them.

And the worst of all of it was that César didn’t know and would never know, that all of it was thanks to the System.

Daniel’s entire existence was tied to a hidden quest worth an Obsidian Rarity Card, but one requirement was never met, so the quest never triggered.

"Should I summon Pablo? He was the one I ordered to torture Daniel, and he was exceptionally good at killing the police."

[System: Pablo was also the one who made the bonfire out of the officers. He is a good choice for the torturer role and extremely loyal, but sometimes too reckless with his moves. He died in the most bizarre way possible.]

"Oh, the tooth... fuck, I remember that." César laughed at it.

[System: Exactly. He miscalculated and put too much explosive into one of his victim’s mouths and stood too close. When the explosive went off, a tooth flew out with so much force that it penetrated Pablo’s skull and into his brain.]

"What were the chances of that happening..." He smiled, just thinking about it. "Well, I think he’s going to be one of them, not just a torturer, but a leader too."

[System: I would like to remind you that you can use the card on anybody. It can be a president from your past life, a general, a mafia boss, a cartel boss, or anyone who had significant influence.]

"So." He stopped. "If I summon President Garacha and he becomes the president here, can I basically make a deal with him like I did back then?"

[System: Yes.]

"I think you’re lying, or the card isn’t meant for this setting. Every motherfucker I can think of comes from the worst versions of Sandira, the worst fucking country in history. Don’t tell me I summon them into this world, where everything is pretty, lovely, and peaceful, and they actually know what the fuck to do. This is a completely new setting for them. What they thrive in is chaos, not this... this is different."

[System: They do indeed thrive in chaos. So make chaos.]

"Oh, you’re talking like I am a villain."

[System: You are a villain.]

"No, I am not a villain. I am the... necessary evil."

[System: You are avoiding moral blame.]

"What?" He said, stopping again. "Hoffa was a villain, and I am the necessary evil that struck him down."

[System: For your own gain, to be the villain that replaces him.]

"Then let it be, but now shut up, and let me shop for clothes." César said as he shook his head and finally made his way into the store though his mind was on the question.

Summoning people who thrive in chaos is not the best idea. Even if they adapt to the world’s setting, they are still the ones who live for death, blood, and complete chaos... but there are others he can choose.

Three people who can thrive in any setting... exactly like him.
