Chapter 46: Disrespectful.

Please support me with Power Stones if possible. Have a great day!

For a moment, César said nothing. He just stood there, holding the blade in his hand looking at the woman on the ground who was supposed to be the mother, but she did not really look like one at all.

Her face was too smooth, not a single wrinkle on it, not even the smallest sign of older age.

Not a single sign that showed she had lived long enough to raise a child. Her skin looked stretched and perfect, almost fake and then there were her lips. They were too big, too full and as the more César looked at her, the more absurd the whole thing became.

"No way." He stared at her face a bit longer, searching for something that would prove him wrong but it was real. He had seen the ID card with his own eyes.

Her age was high enough for her to be the mother of a nineteen year old and second the names matched too.

[System: Are you disappointed?]

"I am." César answered without hesitation.

[System: Why? Is it too surreal for you? Do you feel the emotional weight of killing a family?]

[They were hitmen that the Secret Service hired. Disposable pieces, as you said.]

"It’s all a mess and fucking disrespect." César said, because he could not understand any of it. Not a single part of what the fuck was happening around him.

First, he killed the chief who was the man behind the scenes who was the drug lord of the capital. In the middle of all that, he was mistaken for a DCA agent. Then Sirina shot him and now the Secret Service had sent two fucking outsiders to kill him, all to retrieve a dossier that he did not even have.

It felt worse than in the other lives where Sandria was on fire. In those lives then there was chaos everywhere, but even that chaos had structure.

But now it was all fucked up, because of one single fact. Political corruption.

It all fucking happened because of that... because of that fucking political mess. If Hoffa hadn’t had his hands in politics, neither the NSA nor the Secret Service would have sprung out of nowhere.

That is why corruption at a political level is the worst kind, not just because of its power or how far it reaches, not just because of the deals and connections that spread through the system, but also because it involves complete idiots. People who have no idea what they are doing, people who make decisions that ruin everything around them without even realizing it, people who are given control over things far bigger than they can handle, and yet they act like they know exactly what they are doing.

But to be true what was more on his mind and cared about was the disrespect.

"They sent them." He pointed the knife at them. "To kill me, to get back a dossier this is imporant for them... is this a fucking joke?" That that smile on his face wasn’t from stress, but from the stupidity of it and the disrespect he felt.

That was the worst part of it. The sheer disrespect he felt at the idea that his run in this version of Sandria almost ended not because of real professionals, not because of agents, not a trained hitman, not someone who actually knew how to do the job properly, but because of a mother and daughter duo.

It felt insulting, so insulting that he could not stop smiling.

He almost died to two women who took money from the Secret Service and spent it on cosmetic surgeries.

[System: You misunderstand the situation a bit.]

"How?" His voice came laced with that feeling of just wanting to cut their bodies to pieces just to get rid of the frustration.

[System: If we look at it from a game perspective, you are max-ranked and smurfing on a low account. There are maybe a dozen people in the capital who could have pulled off the same thing as you, and that’s it. These two women were professional, but not on your level. That’s it.]

Well, it didn’t help César, not even a little, as he, of course, had a bit of ego. Who wouldn’t, after all he had experienced?

Almost dying like this was a disrespect to him, but he did it.

He closed his eyes and slowly controlled his breathing, trying to push the idea away, telling himself not to do it, that it wasn’t worth it, but the devil was in his ear.

[System: You can do it. Just push the knife and go bone deep. Cut around the—]

"Ugh... h-hello...?" Suddenly another woman’s voice came from the door and as César opened his eyes, there stood a hotel staff. A real one, not a killer, and well, what she was seeing froze her down.

She came up to the floor to work, but she noticed that one of the suite’s doors was in pieces and she decided to look, and when she did what she saw was blood but the most fucked up all about it was the man.

César, standing in the blood and there covered in blood, with a blade in his hands, just looking at her like a demon that is ready to take her soul.

"I-I can... j-just go." Her voice came again as she didn’t even look away, kept staring at César.

[System: It’s better to kill her.]

No, she is just a civilian, and they will cover it all up, maybe even silence her. Right now I am protected by those who want to kill me.

"Go lady."

"T-Thank you." She even thanked César... what a well-mannered woman she was, though everything after that was pure panic.

César didn’t even move but heard her sprinting through the hallway and even heard her pushing the elevator button like twenty times.

[System: You need to leave before more people come.]
