Cartel Experience-Chapter 53: Deal.
Somehow, to Clara, it was more surreal what César just said to her than her being that desperate to give him her own body, to have sex with him. That, in itself, should have been the peak of her shock, the most absurd, and yet it was nothing compared to the meaning of what César said.
It was more surreal than the fact of what had happened to her, more surreal than the memory of those men who had hurt her, more surreal than the whole situation she was in. And yet, even that, even the horror of it, was nothing in comparison to the idea that she was just asked to help a cartel leader settle in, literally help build none other than a cartel that would operate in the city.
The first cartel that was ready to operate in the city, in the capital, in a place where others had tried and failed. And she, Clara, was about to help César, the leader of that cartel, to start it off while she stood there naked, covered by only a white bedsheet, after she had wanted to give him her body.
How fucking surreal it was, how impossible it felt that all of the feeling in her, the pain, the worry, the fear, the despair, all of it, suddenly began to shift.
Yeah, that faint smile on her face was not there because of fear, pain, or desperation. No, it was telling a story of understanding, of connection, of realization.
The news she heard about Hoffa’s death. She finally realized that the one who killed him was him. That was why César smiled back then when she said that the chief was behind the gangsters. He killed him, that’s why that’s why he was ready to introduce the cartel, because he already began it, and that’s why the smile also came onto Clara’s face.
Hearing that César would pay her with the blood of those who did bad things to her was enough to heal her up. Moreover, the feeling of realizing he was the one who killed Hoffa was more pleasurable than sex.
She was all in. For her, the fact that César declined her body the second time too, saying he would not use her, not get her in trouble, was all enough to give him what he wanted.
It was enough for her to do it, to have a hand in the birth of a cartel that would probably cause a lot of suffering and death, but not for her. No, this cartel would fuck those up who had dared to do what they did to her and more over what they wanted to do to Daisy... things that no child should ever be exposed to, even in fiction.
That was the reason Daisy wore dirty clothes, because she was never home, never safe.
She was always hiding, always moving through alleys and streets, staying far from Clara to not get snatched by those gangsters.
But now an opportunity came up, and for Clara there was no line she would not cross, no rule she would not break, no sin she would not carry on her back if it meant keeping Daisy alive and untouched, but more over if there was even the slightest chance to strike back, to return what they did to her, to make those who acted or even thought about doing such things to Daisy pay for it in blood, she was not going to refuse.
She was not going to question it nor hesitate for a single second.
No, she was going to accept it fully, willingly, with a smile on her face.
[System: You just made a promise to her that you will kill them. This is revenge in her name. Do not attach emotion to her.]
There is no point in repeating my own rules, and I am paying her with it. There is no emotion behind it.
"Before I help... can you make a promise?" Clara’s voice suddenly came, but this time her eyes were aggressive in a way, so serious that César got surprised by it.
"Yeah, of course." He answered, but what followed was way darker than he thought it would be.
"Those who... hurt me," she began as a tear rolled down her face as she bit her lips. "I-I want you t-to torture them and... c-cut thier h-heads down."
[System: Forget what I have said. I like her really much.]
Once again this... fuck.
[System: You have experienced more terrifying things. This is nothing.]
But I always feel this type of hatred, this anger inside that wants to escape.
[System: It means you are still a human, which needs to be changed quickly and become pure El Diablo.]
The System wasn’t really helping César, but there was one thing he knew he needed to ask, to be clear.
"I need to ask it, Clara... were you—"
"Multiple times." She did not even let César finish, as he already knew what he was about to ask. "I know cartels are ruthless..." Those eyes of hers, the pain, she had her own darkness. "... so I want you to show them."
"Okay."
"What...?" She didn’t understand it, no... she couldn’t understand it.
How could he say okay so easily, so calmly, to something that had taken everything in her to say out loud?
Every word she had spoken had been a struggle, every thought and feeling she had carried inside for so long, and yet he accepted it without hesitation, without a single sign of doubt. It felt impossible and terrifying all at once.
"If that’s what you want as payment for your help, then fine. I’ll have a man who will torture them for weeks, and then cut their heads off." Man... he said it far too calmly, and that smile at the end made it worse. "But if you want, I can have a man do the same to them." He continued as he stepped closer to her, maybe too close, reaching out his hand to touch her face and wipe the tears away. "Exactly what they did to you." he tilted his head just slightly, his eyes never leaving hers. "What do you think?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
At that moment, she felt like the devil had just offered her a deal. His eyes were a void, an endless emptiness that felt like the source of chaos and suffering itself, but this devil was offering her exactly what she wanted the most.
"I-I like... it."
