CASSANDRA: The Unfavored Princess-Chapter 154: Paper
Blazh walked back into his camp. There was silence in his surroundings but his inner voices were shouting loudly.
Blazh’s eyes narrowed as he saw the man pretending to be the Duke come inside the tent. Blazh did not say anything as he observed the man.
He acted just like the Duke. There was no difference between the two. It was as if they were twins, but Blazh knew that if Prince Cedric could suspect that the man was not Duke Salvador then their efforts were in vain.
"Why are you staring at me?" The man said Blazh as he sat on the bed.
"I had a talk with the third Prince today," Blazh said in a soft tone as his eyes glared at the man to observe even a slight change in his face. "It seems that you are not doing your work well."
The man did not understand as he smiled innocently. "Why would you say that?"
"Because the real Duke Salvador will never be this close to the first Princess," Blazh said in a soft tone.
The man’s face stiffened but he soon smiled as he nodded slightly. "I guess I should keep my distance from the first Princess?"
"You are an intelligent man." Blazh nodded as he continued. "I will not tell you how to behave. You can figure it out on your own."
Blazh’s eyes borrowed as his voice turned low. "But I would like to remind you that the real Duke never likes the first Princess. She is an invisible person to him and I hope you understand. After all, if Duke Salvador finds your action unpleasant then you would be buried deep inside the ground."
The man’s face turned pale as he swallowed hard. Everyone knew how cruel Duke Salvador was when it came to giving punishment. The man could not help but murmur. "I will keep my distance and try to restrict myself."
"You better." Blazh did not say anything else as he left the tent. His eyes were looking at his surroundings. There was only one thought in his mind. It was to inform the Duke about all the things that have been happening there.

Duke Salvador sat in the room looking outside, He was waiting for the fifth Princess to come out of the space.
Princess Cassandra had long told her that the wind element would be helping her to learn how to use and control the flow of elements in her body. But because the element asked her to enter the space and do so, the fifth Princess would pretend to sleep due to her health from time to time, but in reality, she would enter space and learn the techniques from the wind element.
Duke Salvador turned around as he saw the fifth Princess’s sleeping face. He wanted to teach her by himself but Princess Cassandra was always afraid of getting caught.
So it was Duke Salvador’s duty to stay there and be a proper guard for the Princess. Amy was sitting beside the fifth Princess trying to distract herself. She was continuously shifting things from one place to another. Rearranging clothes and whatnot.
Duke Salvador could not take it anymore as he asked the fifth Princess’s lady in waiting with an irritated tone. "Why are you doing this?"
Amy looked at the Duke as she sighed. "I don’t know."
Although the Duke looked like he did not believe her, it was true. Amy did not know but she was worried. There was an unknown tension that surrounded her heart making her uneasy. So Amy started rearranging things in the room. It was her mechanism to cope.
Duke Salvador shook his head as he added. "Your Princess is working hard, shouldn’t you work hard too?"
Amy did not understand what the Duke was trying to tell her. She tilted her head as she looked at the Duke in confusion.
Aiden sighed as he explained. "It is not only her battle, it will be a battle for us too. Why don’t we try fighting it with all our powers? You need to practice your elemental powers as well."
"But I am not a proper mage. My power belongs to the lowest grade." Amy tried to explain.
"Didn’t my butterfly teach you?" Aiden raised his eyebrows. "I remembered she taught you how to concentrate the powers and amplify your attack."
Amy widened her ideas. It was true that the fifth Princess had taught her such a thing and she was practicing too, but when they came into the Vivere Kingdom everything stopped.
"Are you worried that your power will be identified? Or do you think it will not work here?" Duke Salvador asked as his gaze narrowed. Looking at Amy’s wide eyes screaming silently, ’How do you know?’ Aiden knew that he had guessed right.
"Don’t worry, everyone knows that you are an earth mage, so no one will harm you. And if anything happens, I and Achard will help you." Aiden said as he saw Amy’s face relax. "And I think your powers can flourish here."
Amy did not understand what the Duke was saying as she blinked in confusion.
"The Vivere Kingdom has a pure earth source. You are an earth mage and take some power from it. I am sure your power can increase. Just practice what the fifth Princess has taught you and you will be fine."
As Amy listened to the Duke’s words, she felt that he was not wrong. She gets the power through the crystals which she doesn’t have but she can see the molecules of elements when she concentrates. Just had always seen them when she practiced by the technique taught by the fifth Princess.
And if the pure earth element is in the land, Amy was sure that her powers would increase. She smiled as she whispered. "I will start practicing from today itself. I cannot let the Princess go in the battle alone. After all, I have to protect her. She is my family."
Duke Salvador’s lips twitched at Amy’s words. It was a good thing that Amy decided to practice for the battle but Aiden was feeling like the love the lady in waiting had for the Princess was beyond imaginable.
’It makes me jealous.’ Aiden murmured to himself.
—--
It was evening. The sun was about to settle as it painted the sky orange. Aiden blinked as he moved his sight from the fifth Princess towards the sky. It had been hours since Princess Cassandra had entered space.
Aiden sighed as his eyes narrowed. After Amy left the room, only he remained. But Aiden was not bored; he practiced his postures as he read some books that Achard Bentham had left in the room about some old stories.
Aiden wanted to find a way to save the fifth Princess. When Duke Salvador started reading through the text, he realized that the origin of the element was still unknown. It was just because of the first Emperor that the Elvira Empire believed that Elvira the witch had created the elements, but in the Vivere Kingdom, the story was slightly different.
The story in the Vivere Kingdom says that the elements were in pure form. They could take any form from animals to humans because they were blessed by gods, or were they created by a witch? It was unknown but they were there in physical form, but then they decided to settle in human beings because they were afraid that they would harm the humans if they lose their control.
When the elements tried to enter one’s body they leaned and other in other people, thus creating mages. People who could use elements. The one person who had all the powers was the ruler but it was observed that when their first ruler died, no one with such an ability was born. Until Princess Maxima came into this world.
Aiden sighed as he thought about the content. History had always been distorted by the human’s so he could never understand if the version he was rigging was the truth. After all, the history of the Vivere Kingdom and the Elvira Empire was very different.
’Maybe we should trust the elements alone.’
’The history is the past that needs to be only used as a lesson.’
’A lesson that urges me to save my butterfly.’
Duke Salvador thought as he smiled and continued looking outside, but soon something caught his sight. Duke Salvador saw a small bird flying towards the window. It looked like an ordinary bird but Duke Salvador knew its specialty. He opened the window as he took the bird inside.
Aiden touched the bird’s hair as he took a small piece of paper from his feathers. Although the bird was small, it had long and thick features, a perfect place to hide small letters.
Aiden sent the bird away as he closed the window before opening the letter.
Once Aiden was finished with reading its content, his eyes turned dark. The paper was crushed in his hand as he burned the page using his power.
’We need to hurry up.’ was the only thought in Duke Salvador’s mind.
