CASSANDRA: The Unfavored Princess-Chapter 155: Misunderstanding
Duke Salvador was in deep thought when Princess Cassandra woke up.
Cassandra looked around as she rubbed her eyes but all she could see was Duke Salvador’s back. He was looking out as she could guess that he was in deep thoughts. Princess Cassandra thought it was odd. Whenever she woke up, Aiden was the one whose face would greet her but today the Duke was engrossed in something else.
Princess Cassandra did not make a sound as she got down from her bed as she walked towards the Duke but she did not think anything.
[What is wrong with him?]
Duke Salvador’s eyes widened as he turned around, frightening the fifth Princess in the Process.
Princess Cassandra caught her breath as he held her dress. Her heart was beating faster as she looked at the Duke. "You frightened me."
"But didn’t you say what’s wrong with me?" Duke Salvador asked as he raised his eyes. But the expression of the fifth Princess did not help much. Cassandra was quiet as she was in deep thoughts but to her surprise, the facial expression of the Duke started to change.
[When did I say it?]
[Wait,, Didn’t I say it in my thoughts?]
[But Duke Salvador cannot hear my thoughts but ..]
Princess Cassandra saw the disbelief on Duke Salvador’s face as he blinked his eyes.
"Did you .." Princess Cassandra did not finish asking the question when she saw Aiden nodding his head.
Duke Salvador completed the fifth Princess’s words. "Hear your thoughts."
There was silence in the room. Princess Cassandra did not understand what was going on. "So if you can hear my thoughts then can I hear yours too?" Cassandra asked in a soft tone as her eyes looked at the Duke in hopes of getting an answer.
"Maybe let’s try." Aiden smiled as his eyes glowed with mischief.
[My butterfly. How much I want to be alone with you.] Aiden’s eyes were filled with love that Princess Cassandra could not help but shiver.
Seeing Princess Cassandra’s blushing face, Duke Salvador knew that she might have heard the words. He smiled as he started feeling closer to the fifth Princess. It was like they have this bond that could connect them.
Duke Salvador touched the fifth Princess’s cheek as he smiled. "So, we can communicate in this way too."
Princess Cassandra came back to her senses as she nodded her head. Although she knew that she could hear the Duke’s voice and he could hear her, the question still remained. "How?"
Aiden’s eyes turned sharp when he heard Princess Cassandra saying the words. "Maybe you should ask the element. They know a lot of things." Duke Salvador suggested.
Princess Cassandra nodded as she moved her hand and the soft wind started blowing around her. The crystal cat appeared as it looked at the two people.
The wind element raised its head as it asked in a sarcastic tone. "Why did you call me here? Do you want to train again?"
Princess Cassandra shook her head in fear. She didn’t want to do that. She was already tired due to all the hard work she was doing in space and now any more work will make her feel like dying.
"Then why did you call me?" The wind element asked. There was slight displeasure in his tone.
"I can hear the Duke’s voice." Princess Cassandra said as she looked at the Duke. "I had never been able to hear it initially."
The wind element moved his face to the other side as if he was angry at the question asked by the fifth Princess. His movement of the tail was telling that what a stupid question he thought it was.
"Didn’t that man that you call Lord told you things before? When you grow powerful you will be able to hear his voice."
It was then that Princess Cassandra remembered what Lord Bentham had told them. [He did not lie.] Princess Cassandra thought.
"Yes, he did not." Duke Salvador replied to Princess Cassandra’s surprise. It was then that she suddenly realized that there was a problem. The fifth Princess looked at the wind element as she said in a hurried tone. "But with others, I have to create a passway sort of thing. I have to pick a link before they could hear me but with the Duke.... He just hears my thoughts, even when I don’t concentrate. It’s as if I am talking to him."
The element smiled as it nodded its head. "That is because he is the one for you. The special one that everyone talks about. Didn’t the fire and water element say that you are like Princess Maxima and the Duke is like the first Emperor?"
Princess Cassandra nodded. The wind element continued. "Your fate is interlinked with theirs. They were the definition of ever after even though the ending was not happy. And so are you."
"But we hope that we create a happy ending." Duke Salvador said in a stiff tone. His red eyes turned sharp as the words left his mouth.
The wind element did not reply. It simply smiled as its tail moved from one side to another. But even though he didn’t say it, his expression was expressive enough.
’Let’s wait and watch.’ was clearly visible on its gaze.

"Where did Amy go?" Princess Cassandra asked as she looked at the Duke. It had been a long time since the discussion with the element. The Duke had gone for a short period of time before coming back.
"She is practicing her elements," Aiden said as he poured a glass of water for the fifth Princess.
"Why? She should not be involved in it. I do not want Amy to get hurt." Princess Cassandra said in a soft tone as she looked down at the water in the glass. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
"Butterfly," Duke Salvador said as he saw the fifth Princess looking at him. "The battle is unavoidable and everyone will be getting hurt. Isn’t it a good thing that your lady in waiting will learn how to protect herself when the situation calls for it?"
Princess Casandra did not complain. She knew that the words the Duke was saying were true. The Battle was unavoidable.
"But ..." Princess Cassandra still had a bad feeling in her heart. She did not want to involve Amy in the mess.
"We might have to leave earlier than predicted." Duke Cassandra said as he looked outside from the window. "Blazh sent a letter. They will be reaching Kir Mountain earlier than expected."
Princess Cassandra’s movements stopped as she listened. "How early?" The question was a genuine one.
"Within a few days." Duke Salvador said in a small tone. The content of the letter was still vivid in his mind.
"So we need to fasten our process too." Princess Cassandra smiled. "I need to do more practice."
Duke Salvador did not refuse the words. It was true that he too felt the same way. They needed to get ready in a short period of time.
But there was something else that was burning from inside. Duke Salvador did not know if it was a good thing to tell Princess Cassandra or not but Duke Salvador wanted to avoid any type of misunderstanding.
"There is something else as well." Duke Salvador said in a soft tone. He looked down in disappointment. "The first Princess and the man pretending to be the Duke might have something going on."
Duke Salvador was silent for a few seconds then continued to explain further. "Even the third Prince suggested that something is going on with them."
Princess Cassandra smiled as she nodded. She could tell why the Duke was feeling a little low. Cassandra could not help but smile as she found the Duke a little silly. "I know that he is not you."
Princess Cassandra smiled as she continued. "Even though he is the one that looks like you, I know that he is not you. Even when the first Princess tries to tell me so I would still know that the real Duke Salvador loves me alone. So.." Princess Cassandra held Duke Salvador’s hand as her other hand touched his cheeks. "I will never misunderstand and fight with you. After all, the woman you want to marry is me. And I will not forget it."
Duke Salvador nodded as he rested his cheek on Cassandra’s hand. He was enjoying the feeling of her soft skin on his skin. It made him realize that the lady was real. Not a fraction of his imagination. The fifth Princess was here with him.
For a few days, Aiden was in bad condition. He was never this tense of war before this. He constantly fears losing Princess Cassandra. It was getting so bad that he would come at night just to check if the fifth Princess was breathing or not.
Although Aiden knew that his worry was useless as nothing bad would happen here, he still feared.
[I hope Achard can find a way to protect her soon.]
