CASSANDRA: The Unfavored Princess-Chapter 159: Not Worthy?
Princess Cassandra walked out of the carriage. The white snow greeted her eyes when she looked down.
"The snow here is really pretty." Princess Cassandra smiled as she said in a soft tone. Her eyes were looking at Princess Teimei as she continued. "Does this mountain contain snow all year round?"
Princess Teimei nodded. "Yes, that is its specialty."
Princess Cassandra blinked as she asked. "Are we going to walk up the mountain?"
"Yes." Princess Teimei replied as she looked at Prince Carl and Achard Bentham coming. Soon everyone came together as the hike on the Kir Mountain began.
—----
Princess Cassandra huffed as she looked back only to see Amy following her. Duke Salvador had his face covered as he gave Princess Cassandra his hand so that she could hold in and walk. Cassandra’s eyes were shivering as she looked at Princess Teimei and asked. "How long do we have .."
Before the fifth Princess could finish her words, Duke Salvador pulled the fifth Princess into his arms as he looked at the side where the ball of fire came from.
Princess Cassandra’s heart was beating faster. Her breathing increased as she did not know what happened. Cassandra looked up only to see that the Duke’s eyes were glowing dangerously.
Princess Cassandra swallowed as she was frightened but soon she was pulled out of Ed’s arms as Amy came in. Duke Salvador stood in front of the Princess in protection as he looked in the direction from where the attack came from.
"Sorry, I didn’t see you there." Princess Valeria’s voice came as she walked towards the group of people. "I didn’t know you all would be here to welcome me."
Princess Valeria’s laughter filled the place as she looked at Prince Carl and Princess Teimei. "Even the royals are here? Were you afraid that I would attack your land?"
Prince Carl looked behind Princess Valeria as he saw the secretary smiling. But the man was not alone, beside him were Prince Cedric and Duke Salvador.
Princess Teimei giggled as her gaze sharpened. "The Princes of Elvira Empire are here, in an enemy kingdom. So why can’t we, the owners, be here? I don’t remember that we needed your permission before moving around."
Princess Valeria’s lips curled up. "You might need it soon. And by the way, you should get used to calling me the Emperor, after all, I will be the one that is to be crowned the future ruler."
"The future ruler?" Princess Teimei laughed as if she had heard something really funny. "You really think that will happen? What gave you such confidence? The man standing behind you?"
Princess Valeria turned around as she saw behind. There were two people that her eyes stuck to, the secretary and Duke Salvador.
"So what if it is? I trust the man and no one can change it." Princess Valeria declared with full confidence.
"It is so funny to see that the first Princess of the Elvira Empire trusts her secretary so much it feels like your brother does not feel the same." Princess Temie’s eyes shifted towards Prince Cedric who stood there like a statue.
"It doesn’t matter what he thinks. Anyways, can I know what the royal siblings are doing here?" Princess Valeria folded her hands as she raised her eyebrows.
Princess Valeria wanted to find the crystals soon and get out of here. She did not want to waste any more of her time here. She was not close with Duke Salvador and nor was she about to obtain all that she had ever hoped for, Valeria did not want to entertain any more changes in her plan.
"We heard that Princess Valeria will be here to enjoy the vacation. Of course, as the representative of the kingdom, we had to be here to welcome you." Prince Carl said.
Princess Valeria laughed as she looked at Lord Bentham. "Why is the Lord here then? To welcome me as well?"
Lord Bentham did not reply as he kept looking at the fifth Princess.
Princess Valeria was getting irritated when she did not get any response. Her eyes sharpened as she looked at the Princess she hated the most.
Princess Valeria saw the fifth Princess, Princess Cassandra standing there in shock. Her eyes glowed against the snow. Her red lips and blue eyes created a contrast that had always made Princess Valeria insecure.
"Oh, so we have the fifth Princess here as well. I thought that Lord Bentham had long forgotten about the fifth Princess. An unpowerful lady that is ignored by all." Princess Valeria smiled.
The guard that was standing in front of Princess Cassandra formed a fist, but he did not do anything.
"The first Princess is talking about my personal life. No matter what position Princess Cassandra had initially, she is my fiance now." Lord Bentham said as he took a step forward.
"Oh, you fell for her beauty?" Princess Valeria laughed as she moved her hand as a ring of fire moved towards the fifth Princess but Duke Salvador protected her. His eyes turned dark as he moved his hand and a large ring of fire engulfed the smaller one before it disappeared.
"YOU .." Princess Valeria’s eyes darkened as her hands formed a fist. She took a deep breath as she lost her reasoning. After she was in power, no one had dared to belittle her but now the mere guard was more powerful than here.
Princess Valeria remembered why she was put in the outer palace. When she had attacked one of the black eagles, his powers were stronger than her. Although Princess Valeria had fully forgotten about it, she remembered it now.
And why would Princess Valeria remember it? It would have been because the guard protecting the fifth Princess was also stronger than she and Valeria could feel it.
"What are you doing? Protecting someone who is not worthy?" Princess Valeria said as she looked at the man. "In times like these, you should be loyal to me. Why are you showing your loyalty to someone like her? Someone who is not worthy?"
The man smiled but he did not reply. He looked at the man standing beside the secretary. Princess Valeria followed his gaze only to see that he was looking at Duke Salvador.
"Oh, I forgot, the black eagles only take orders from Duke Salvador, but for you know, soon I might be your master too." Princess Valeria smiled as her eyes softened. She looked back at the duke whose face was stiff. "The Duke and I will be together soon."
No one talked as Blazh who was standing at the end came forward as he asked, "When did the Duke .."
"When are the servants allowed to talk?" Princess Valeria said in a stiff voice. "You are his aid so behave like one. This matter is between the Duke and me. No one is allowed to interfere."
Blazh did not take Princess Valeria’s words to his heart. He looked at the man pretending to be Duke Salvador as he said, "Explain if you want to live."
Princess Valeria’s eyes widened. She could not understand why Blazh would talk with his master in such away. It was disrespectful. Princess Valeria was sure that the Duke would definitely punish him, but to her surprise, the Duke did nothing of that sort. On the other hand, he started explaining the situation. The tone was faster as if he was nervous.
"The first Princess asked me to marry her. I did not reply." The man who pretended to be Duke Salvador looked at Blazh before turning towards the fifth Princess. "I swear on my life that I did not respond. It was the first Princess that might have misunderstood the situation."
Princess Valeria’s eyes widened. She thought that the Duke was giving an explanation to the fifth Princess. The rage she was feeling was about to come out.
"What do you mean I misunderstood. After all the time we had spent together, how can you say that Duke?" Princess Valeria said. But the duke was not responding. His eyes were focused on the fifth Princess.
Princess Valeria took a deep breath as she took a step forward. Her eyes burned with desire as she moved her hand and a ball of fire moved towards the fifth Princess.
Blazh took a step forward as a beam of water came out and extinguished the fire. Princess Valeria’s body shook as she looked at Blazh. "HOW DARE YOU?"
"The Princess should not have done that." Blazh moved towards the fifth Princess as he stood in between her and Princess Valeria. "There is a limit that is tolerated."
Princess Valeria took a deep breath. "Duke Salvador had really taken care of a snake. Blazh, the Duke had always trusted you and here you are, betraying him."
"I never betrayed the Duke and he knows it. I am the one protecting him." Blazh said.
"Protecting him?" Princess Valeria laughed as her eyes narrowed. "You should be protecting me. I am going to marry Duke Salvador, not that fifth Princess."
"Say’s Who?" Duke Salvador’s voice came but from the man who stood as a guard near Princess Cassandra.
