CAT WARLOCK: This Darklord Feasts Upon Horror-Chapter 232: Class Hierarchy
She dropped out of university many years ago. The goth girl had only finished high school. She never thought that she would return to school one day.
The Institute was different from the usual university. It didn’t abandon the cohort system from high school.
In high school, each class had a predetermined list of students and you did everything together. You attended the same class with the same amount of people.
In university, each student had a different course and personalized schedule depending on what they chose. You wouldn’t see the same students again unless you were in the same course as them.
The Institute was a fusion of both. Each student was a member of a class but they could have individual courses.
The reason for this was because ’classes’ in the Institute weren’t just people that you attended the study course with. They were your comrades. Each class was a miniaturized troop. And each class could bond alliance or start a war against each other.
Selina’s class consisted of many people that she knew of and Mater’s servants. Aurora, Evelynn, and Blanche were in it. Becky, Loretta, and Cole were in it.
Mater had also done a little manipulation behind the scenes to arrange a few people to be in the same class as Selina. People that he deemed worthy to be in the same class as Selina.
The ceremony was disbanded. Each student returned to their headquarters. The class was called HQ instead of the usual term because of the way the Institute operated.
There were 35 HQ in total inside the Institute, representing 35 classes. 15 classes for the freshmen. 10 classes for the juniors. And 10 classes for seniors.
Selina and her group found their way to the HQ. Each student had already got their biometric taken. HQ could only be accessed by their biometric.
The room was blocked by a thick metal steel door with a biometric scanner on the side. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"Isn’t this a little bit much?" Becky’s face twitched a little.
"It is necessary. Considering our uniforms and weapons are stored here." Selina said.
She pressed on the biometric scanner. The steel door opened up. Two mounted guns dropped down from the ceiling and startled everyone.
"Remember to scan first before going in. Otherwise the defensive system may attack you." Selina walked inside.
The black cat floated up and pressed the biometric scan also. Selina registered Mater as her familiar so he could run around the Institute with her ID.
"Selina Isles’s familiar detected! Welcome to HQ, Mr. Mater!"
The black cat walked inside. The rest soon followed after finishing their scans.
Each HQ was a miniaturized military barrack. It had a place to sleep, an armory, two changing lockers for male and female, and even two communal bathrooms.
The main room of the HQ was a normal looking class.
When Selina entered, there were already some people there.
She recognized a few of them. Clive Young. A very promising new Psychic that did the examination with her.
A face that she didn’t think she would meet again. Ken the waiter. They met briefly when Selina drove to Ines Sota. Ken was a tall and muscular man. The tallest out of all of them with a jawline that defined masculinity.
"You’re a Psychic?" Selina said.
"Hello, Miss Isles. I didn’t think we would meet again." Ken nodded at her. "Allow me for a proper introduction, the name is Ken Elliott."
"How do you know my name?" Selina said.
"You are very famous these days, Miss Isles. I know you from the case with AS Journal." Ken said.
"I see."
The black cat was licking himself when they’re talking. Ken Elliott was a very powerful Psychic. But he had very good restrain. From what Mater learned about him, he found out about his power a year ago.
So when Ken was harassed, he was completely justified to respond. But he didn’t. That showed great humility that the average person wouldn’t have. A good man to be in the same class as Selina.
As for Clive Young, he was a bit weaker than Ken. But he shared the same examination with Selina and the rest of the girls. The man was also extremely smart. His IQ was no joke and this troop would need a mastermind.
There were a few others that Mater manipulated to be with Selina.
The black cat turned his head toward a rather short girl with puffy cheeks. She was a little bit taller than Becky. Her name was Astrid Dawkins. An official nerd with the ability of a Psychosmith. She would be the main mechanic for the class.
Then there was Miles Tran. Another mechanic with much more experience on his hands. He was less talented than Astrid but had much more knowledge than her. He and Astrid would be a great pair for the class.
Mater didn’t just put allies for Selina to lead. He also arranged an obstacle for her. After all, a leader was no leader unless they could control their subordinates.
"So you must be Big Sister." A tall white man approached Selina.
"Here it comes!" The black cat meowed.
Selina turned toward him. He was a lean young man with short hair. He was not as muscular as Ken and his eyes were less bright than Clive. But he had an aura around him. A dangerous aura.
This man had killed before. He was Oscar Quill, a child soldier of the Union.
That man had been to war overseas despite his young age. He had a wealthy corporation behind his back. His parents died and he was the sole heir of their legacy.
Technically speaking, he was the corporation and held total control over it. But Oscar had given up his control to the people he trusted. He didn’t want to be a corporate leader. His path was on the battlefield.
"And you are?" Selina said.
"Oscar Quill. There must be a captain for the class. And from what I see, the choice is between you and me." The man said. "Will you voluntarily give it up or will you fight for it?"
Selina grinned widely, "You are dangerous, Mr. Quill. But nothing’s over until it’s over."
"The arena?" Oscar said.
"We’ll meet there." Selina nodded.
Suddenly, the door to the classroom was opened.
