CEO's Contract Obsession-Chapter 303: Stunning Woman
Ash reluctantly agreed to meet Vanessa at a renowned Chinese restaurant in the city center for dinner, solely because Ava encouraged him to do so. He didn’t have any interest in getting involved with Vanessa any further, as he knew she had ulterior motives – she aimed to use him to win back Henry and break up the Welsh couple.
Now that he has Ava by his side, Ash no longer wishes to meddle with Amy and Henry’s relationship; in fact, he genuinely wishes them well. Being with Ava has transformed his perspective on the world, and he feels like he’s been given a fresh start.
However, Ava views Vanessa’s invitation as a chance to keep tabs on her. They are closely monitoring Vanessa to determine if she is connected to the mastermind or not. As long as Vanessa continues to harbor ill intentions towards Amy and Henry, Ava and Rei won’t let her escape the consequences and will keep a close watch until she moves on and leaves them alone. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦
Ash arrived at the restaurant late, as he had been literally dragged there by Ava. Without her insistence, he would have stood Vanessa up despite already agreeing to meet her.
Ava took matters into her own hands, making sure Ash wore recording devices to capture every word Vanessa would say, anticipating that Ash might forget important details due to his lack of interest. She even took the responsibility of driving him to the restaurant.
In frustration, Ash questioned, "Do I really have to do this, Hon?" He felt that spending his Sunday with Ava would have been more meaningful than meeting Vanessa, especially since they both had work the next day, making this encounter seem like a waste of time for him.
The woman in question is powerless and runs a failing company, yet she persists in squandering her remaining funds. Her father, Marcus Lane, decided to sever ties with her after Henry withdrew his investments from both their companies.
Marcus is deeply disappointed in his daughter’s poor management of Cromwell Enterprise, and for losing Henry from her grasp. As a consequence, Marcus’s own company is now experiencing financial difficulties after facing Henry’s wrath.
"Yes, Hon, you have to do this. If you want Amy safe, you will do this for her, she is our friend and this might also be a way to regain your friendship back," Ava encourages him.
Ash sighed multiple times before getting out of the car and proceeded to meet Vanessa. He was guided by the receptionist to the private room that Vanessa booked. And oh boy she doesn’t look happy when Ash entered the room.
"Finally! You are almost an hour late! Is that how a gentleman should behave?" Vanessa expressed her discontent openly. If she didn’t need Ash for something, she wouldn’t have waited even a minute for him.
"Well, it’s true, a gentleman should not act this way. But let me burst your bubble if you haven’t noticed already – I only extend that courtesy to those who deserve it. I can be a complete jerk when the occasion calls for it." Ash boldly uttered as he harshly took his seat and fix the table napkin on his lap.
"Why do you seem so grumpy, like an old man? Perhaps you need to get some action; that’s why this meeting is even more important so you can take Amy to bed already, and maybe you will be less moody. I have a proposition for you," Vanessa remarked, causing Ash to make a displeased expression when she wasn’t looking at him.
Their pre-ordered food arrived, interrupting Vanessa from further conversation. Ash was eager to leave, but he knew Ava expected him to extract as much information as possible from Vanessa. Making Ava happy was his priority, and that’s exactly what he would do.
"Let me hear that proposition of yours," Ash said swiftly, trying to appear interested.
"Just so you know, I am aware that you are trying to close a deal with the Welsh and remove Dimitri," Vanessa mentioned casually, taking a sip of her wine.
Ash’s expression turned sour, realizing that only a select few knew about his plans. He had believed that the executives and high-ranking officials in their company were on his side, but it seemed he was mistaken.
Ash had a reputation for being skilled at manipulating people in the business world, which allowed him to close numerous deals successfully. He excelled at persuading others to align with his interests. That’s why it was surprising that someone within his circle had turned their back on him.
He considered the possibility that this person, like Vanessa, might be using him or could have been planted in his company to sabotage their efforts.
Quickly regaining his composure, Ash replied, "Wow, the news certainly travels fast. I must admit, I’m impressed. Now, what does this have to do with your proposition?" Ash made an effort to conceal his annoyance towards Vanessa.
"I can assist you in getting rid of Dimitri. Once he’s out of the way, you can proceed with your deal with Amy and make your moves. What do you think?" Vanessa proposed.
Internally, Ash couldn’t believe what he was hearing, and he wanted to facepalm himself, but he kept his composure outwardly, thinking, ’I can’t believe this stunning woman is also incredibly dumb. It’s like all her intelligence is concentrated in her looks!’
The idea Vanessa suggested seemed far from easy – if it were, Ash would have done it already. Removing someone as powerful as Dimitri would be an incredibly challenging task. Rumors even suggested that Dimitri might be involved in underground and black market dealings, which could explain his company’s rapid growth.
"And just how do you plan on getting rid of Dimitri?" Ash was astonished by Vanessa’s dumb thinking but decided to play along.
"I will marry him and–" Vanessa halted her speech abruptly as Ash spat out the food he was chewing, followed by a harsh bout of coughing after accidentally inhaling some of it.
Just when Ash believed Vanessa couldn’t surprise him any further with her antics, he was proven wrong once again. This woman consistently came up with the most outrageous ideas that he could hardly fathom.
"Oh gosh, are you alright?" Vanessa asked handing him tissue papers.
"Vanessa, did you just hear yourself? You just said you will marry Dimitri, we are talking about Dimitri Turner right? The owner of San Francisco Petroleum Corp?" Ash asked making Vanessa nod.
"Are you out of your mind? He is older than your father, Vanessa. And do you think your father would agree to that?" Ash said, he really wanted to think that Vanessa must be taking drugs reason for her to not think clearly.
Vanessa sighed, dropping her spoon and fork on her plate before leaning back on the chair and crossing her arms.
"Don’t you think I don’t know that? I am not as dumb as you think Ash. My company and my father’s company are struggling and my father said that Dimitri expresses his interest in me and proposed to my dad. But my dad said that it will be up to me.
Can you believe it? He did not say no to Dimitri, which means he wanted me to say yes and marry that old man for his own gain. He is old and you know what old people do? They will die soon. So my father thinks this is a good opportunity for us to recover from our struggles and said that once Dimitri dies then I can go back to Henry.
The time is just enough for me to make Henry fall for me again and Amy for you. The idea is very possible, right?" Vanessa said.
Ash’s jaw dropped, at what he just heard, ’This girl has no hope, she is totally brainless!’ he said to himself inwardly.
Ash removed the table napkin from his lap and put it on the table before standing up, "You know what? This is a waste of time. Your ideas are stupid, and you are dumb! Why did I even listen to my girlfriend in giving you a chance to talk? That maybe you just needed a friend to talk to. I knew this was not a good idea."
"You have a girlfriend?" Vanessa asked in surprise.
"Yes, Vanessa I do. I have moved on from the fantasy of getting what I can’t. You should do the same. Maybe you will meet someone as great as my girlfriend," Ash then stormed out of the room, completely irritated by the situation.
He knew Vanessa is good for nothing and harmless because the mastermind that they are looking for is always one step ahead of them and a dumb, stupid, and penniless woman cannot do that. All her ideas never work anyways so what is the use of wasting their time in monitoring her when all she was is a naive girl who is still delusional and living in her own world.
