"They’re meant to increase, yes. But not my 10x their previous level. That’s just impossible at least for your current level.." she replied still exasperated..

"But I just did it?" I still wasn’t sure what the big deal was..

"You don’t get it do you?" She asked, realizing my cluelessness..

I shrugged...

"Sigh.... Let me explain it this way.."

She said, somehow already finding her way back into my embrace, taking her previous position like she never left...

"Most people when they rank up from one rank to the other, especially for something as minor as ranking up from F to E, only experience a 2x increase in their base attributes.."

"For most prodigies or even those lineage monsters you hear about often, most push it with at most 5x their base attributes."

Hearing that, my eyes finally widened..

"It seems you finally get it" she shook her head, still incredulous..

"You, with your 10x increase just doubled what the world’s top 1% of monstrous prodigies might not ever come across all their lives..." she concluded..

To say I was surprised would be putting it lightly.

"Come to think of it, my system said my attributes were meant to only double, so what...." I couldn’t finish the thought..

Was my system playing me, or was it just confused about its own capabilities..

"You should check out the rest, there’s one more surprise left.." I told her, my voice teasing..

"Hmmm?..." she turned her gaze back to the notifications..

"There’s nothing there? You just reached the peak of the E-..."

Her voice cut short..

I could see her short circuiting like a faulty wire..

Her expression running through multiple comic looks that I wished I had my camera on me..

I was loving this.

My aunt v was soo much more expressive today that I couldn’t get enough of it..

"Hooooo.... So you reached the peak of the E-rank..." she breathed out slowly..

"All in one seating too.. Alright then".

She Pried my hands from their comfort..

Stood up slowly, patted imaginary dust from her dress as she turned towards me..

"Leave.."

"What?" It took me a moment to process her words, and when they registered, I was lost..

"Leave?" I asked..

"Leave goddamit... You’re going to give this old lady a heart attack with all this ridiculous nonsense!!!!!" She yelled. She looked one second away from flinging her shoe at me..

I got up and fled for my life, my laughter reverberating through the training room...

"Byeeeeeeee"

"Damn you Dante....."

Her fading scream made me laugh harder...

"How was your day?" Came Melissa’s voice from my device..

I had decided to put off my reptile hunt for the next day..

It was already night time and I wasn’t about to enter the wasteland at night, I was arrogant not stupid...

So here I was, conversing with one of the few sources of comfort in my life..

"It was fine, finally ranked up whilst annoying aunt v simultaneously, so all in all a very good day" came my reply, towel in hand as I dried my hair..

"You should really stop annoying mom like that..hihihi" her laughter was pure, lovely..

"Nahh.. she loves when I’m insufferable"

"Well I can’t argue with you on that.."

A comfortable silence settled between us as I made myself comfortable in my bed..

"You finally went back?" I asked, voice forlorn..

"Hehehe, is someone already missing me?" Her reply came, teasing..

"More than you can imagine Mel.."

"Hehehe, then you should better hurry up and come join me then no?"

"You can bet on it, nothing will stop me from joining Aeternum.."

"You should really find a better motivation for joining the greatest academy in the world, a place called the graveyard of geniuses. Instead of doing it for a woman.."

"When the woman is you? The motivation is more than enough.. besides, can’t let you go too long without your vitamins.." I grinned..

The night passed without a hitch.

And before I knew it, it was already morning..

After informing aunt v of my day’s plan(obviously I lied) I found my way towards the city’s exit...

"Hooo, finally the moment has arrived, Thunder Peak, here I come...."

Two guards stood strong at the entrance, the aura radiating out of them made the atmosphere heavy..

"Identification." One demanded..

I handed over my card swiftly, they scanned it, logged my exit of the city then returned it to me.

"We wish you safe adventures." They said in unison.

I nodded then stepped out.

The moment I bypassed the city’s protective dome, the true appearance of the world of terra hit me in full realism...

A Wasteland...

They didn’t call it that just for perks. No. It truly was A Wasteland..

The land looked scarred, the soil looked red, as if it couldn’t remember what color it should have had after being soaked in so much blood for an uncountable number of years..

The trees were withered, dead, twisted in all the wrong ways and when the wind blew one could almost hear the whispering of the damned souls condemned to damnation on these lands..

"All this carnage brought upon these lands by those filthy demons and the world just decided to shake hands on it, call a truce?"

Ptuoi...

"Disgusting.."

My hatred for those damned demons seemed to spike at the sight before me..

"I’ll make them pay, the lot of them..

Until I’ve wiped out every last filthy demon, I will know no rest.." vowing viciously, i willed the stale wind to lift me up.

<Atmospheric Control> responded immediately, the dusty stale air lifting me with ease..

I checked the map I’d purchased earlier, aligned myself properly and then..

Booooooomm!!!!

Like a rocket let loose, I shot towards the horizon...

Thunder Peak loomed like a monument to the natural forces it got its name from..

The peak of the mountain was shrouded in perpetual storms, lightning tore through the atmosphere with thunderous roars, even from this distance I could feel the instability of the forces governing the laws there...

I willed myself forward, drawing closer to the mountain.

But before I could even reach within the mountain’s vicinity...

SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

I heard it, a monstrous screech..

Whatever was there..

The Storm Wyvern most likely.

It knew I was coming.

And it just extended an open invitation..

"Alright then little reptile, let’s see just what you’ve got..." with that thought I propelled myself even faster.

Getting ever closer towards my next turning point..

Getting closer towards an event that would have consequences I hadn’t ever anticipated...
