Cheat Cultivator's Ascension-Chapter 544: Curious
Staring at the scared, yet also hesitant look on the dream demon's face, Su Xiaotian merely smiles before he directs his attention on the person handing out the price of her life now, this time, a lady with voluminous, or rather, fluffy, yet still straight, dirt gray hair flowing all the way down her ankles, said hair, her blood crimson pupils, along with the fangs protruding from her crimson lips will probably make an amateur mistake her as a vampire as well.
This mistake is something that wouldn't be made if anyone were to see the furred, fluffy ears pointing upwards growing from the top of her head, along with the inexplicably fragrant yet unmistakably beastly fragrance permeating out of her body, a scent that anyone of the same progeny as her can only describe as the scent of absolute confidence and strength.
And as expected, she is also one of the people that the immortal-like young man had taken note of previously, this woman belonging to the one of the most prominent forces within the central domain.
[Name: Orvus Bonebreaker]
[Age: 33]
[Affiliation: Bonebreaker Horde (Heir)] 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
[Connection: Bonebreaker Horde (Werewolf Great Pack)]
[Greatest Backing: Vereas Bonebreaker (Bonebreaker Alpha)]
Standing in front of Liliana, one can only wonder just what sort of thing this lady is eating as despite the young vampire earl being taller than most of her peers, she still falls short, too short compared to this beauty with beastly features who is standing almost a head taller than her.
"Here, it's all I have right now" this lady, Orvus, said as she reaches behind her back, dislodging a massive blade that hang right there, a weapon seemingly impractical at first glance, with the width of its blade enough to cover a forearm, and its length just shying slightly compared to her body's height.
"This is…" staring at the heavy weapon that Orvus plants on the ground right in front of her, Alfia couldn't help but take another look before directing her gaze at the wolf-eared lady, her eyes holding a questioning, or rather, confused face as she just couldn't help but wonder why she would give this weapon to the vampire earl in front of them.
"What? Do you really have to show me that face? That demon gave her own soul contract, you gave up the High Priestess' Insignia, but I can't give Liliana this sword?" the lady asked with an annoyed tone, her voice, albeit still pleasant and feminine, oozes ferocity that one might not even find in most men, the fangs poking out of her crimson lips making her appear all the more intimidating.
"That… haha, you're right" the elven priestess replies as she awkwardly smiles at the words of the beastkin in front of her, said beastkin, after seeing the elf's awkward smile, merely shrugs as she pushes the handle of the sword towards Liliana watching the two of them.
"No need to explain what that sword is, Miss Orvus, no one, not even the ill-informed, doesn't know the value of that sword" Liliana said as she watches Orvus seemingly wanting to explain the identity of the weapon she is holding, a weapon she doesn't seem to want to let go, given how firm her grasp of its handle is even when the young vampire earl is already holding said handle as well.
'Impressive… if it is current value and current value alone, that sword should be worth even more than the Myriad Transformation Orb that I currently use…' staring at the sword now in Liliana's hand, Su Xiaotian thought to himself as his eyes saw through the nature of the weapon, that is while quite crude in design, holds an impressive property that even he, with the memories of his mortal travels in the previous timeline, didn't expect to find in a place like this.
'The material seems to perfectly adapt to the physique of the holder… not only that, is it improvement? No, I think it's more of an amplification of the user's combat prowess…' he thought to himself, smiling as his curiosity got piqued not by the weapon, but rather the material that is used to create it.
'Maybe I can talk with that Orvus later…' he added in his mind, and for the first time since he had arrived in this Western Continent, there is finally something that truly piqued in interest, the belief in the words of that peculiar, yet still caring elder starting to become more and more believable to him.
Moments, minutes, possibly even hours passed.
With each person, members of the Great Ones finishing the deal with the vampire earl, the thought of resistance, the intent to fight brimming in the depth of those prideful members' being, starts getting doused by the cold water of reality, their numbers, getting lower and lower as their comrades surrenders to this insurmountable strength, making it all the more obvious to them what sort of end they will meet should they decide to resist the lady in front of them.
One by one, people offer things that they thought are of great importance to Liliana, only for her to be disappointed time and time again as most, if not all the treasures she is receiving from the remaining members of the Great Ones are materials and consumables that one can use to improve their mana cultivation one way or another.
Of course, there's just no way that she will just speak the truth of her no longer treading the path of mana cultivation, hence why despite the disappointment, she still kept a faint smile on her face as there are only worse things these people can give had she not accepted those prices for their lives.
"Aside from those people still sleeping when you knocked them out, this guy is the last one" walking forward as he takes a look at the eyes with vertical slit pupils staring with hatred-filled gaze at him, Su Xiaotian reminded Liliana as he just stands and look down in front of him, not even bothering to squat or bend his knees at the same eye-level as the prince of the dragons.
"Impressive, really impressive" seeing that seething anger in the royal blood's eyes, the immortal-like young man remarked as the smile remains on his face, from the amiable, warm one he had when he was talking with the young vampire earl to one cold and unfeeling, a smile that will send shiver to anyone's spine should they land their gaze upon it, as the detached light in his eyes just doesn't sit well, yet fits perfectly, with that smile.
"Was it Nova, no, Novus?" directing his gaze to other things as he intentionally pronounces the young man's name wrong multiple times, Su Xiaotian's figure circles around, taking in a good look at all of the signs of this young dragon's intense emotions, the trembling shoulders, the nails burying themselves deep in his palms, making blood flow on his fist then falling down mixing with the vast reserves of blood below.
"Noveus" seeing what Su Xiaotian is doing, the vampire earl couldn't help but shake her head as she corrects the name, making the immortal-like young man stare at her with a smile.
"Ah, yes, Noveus… how could I forget…" he replied as he walks in front of the prince of the dragons, a warm smile on his face as he asks in a cold, flat and unfeeling tone.
"I am curious… just where is that anger of yours coming from, Prince of the Dragons?"
