Clan Cultivation System: Each Breakthrough in My Clan Earns Me Rewards-Chapter 39: Clan’s Identity (Unlock - with Coins!)
Shen Liqian’s day with his mom ended.
Once his father returned home, Shen Liqian handed him one of his mother’s pills.
He squeezed the hand that held the pill and gave Shen Lijian a meaningful smile.
His father was as confused as could be, but it would make sense once he reunited with Shen Lexi that evening.
"Father, I have a question for you," Shen Liqian asked.
"Yeah?" Shen Lijian replied.
"What is our clan’s identity?"
This question struck Shen Lijian.
After pondering it, he gave a rather unsatisfying answer.
"To survive."
Shen Liqian nodded and bid farewell to his father.
A good evening awaited him, after all.
Meanwhile, Shen Liqian’s long night was just beginning.
In his cultivation abode, Shen Liqian sat at the center in the lotus position.
His Second Spiritual Root emerged from his shadow and wrapped around him, its head edging closer to Shen Liqian’s shoulder.
Shen Liqian looked at it.
"I need to obtain a new sword worthy of this transcendent power," Shen Liqian said aloud.
All around Death Hydra, no trace of Qi could be seen.
Even with Golden Star Eyes, Shen Liqian saw only emptiness.
This consequently fed Death Hydra and slightly expanded Shen Liqian’s understanding of Death Intent.
Bringing death was ultimately the best way to cultivate this intent and Qi.
"The question is whether this power is related to the Shen Clan or another past life," Shen Liqian thought aloud.
Zhiyin had told him before that people lived numerous lives and their circle of reincarnation ended most often because of their karma, leaving them forever in the Netherworld.
That much didn’t help him find out the origin of Death Qi.
His father also had no clue about the Shen Clan’s past.
The only clues Shen Liqian had were the cultivation methods.
Zhiyin had helped fix them, but they were fundamentals rather than the entire identity.
"We’re developing, but we mustn’t forget about our identity.
"And if we do not have one, I will make one.
"I will look into our cultivation methods and comprehend them, alone or with Zhiyin and the Clan Cultivation System."
Shen Liqian closed his eyes.
For now, he would cultivate a little to refresh his mind and heart, which were quite chaotic after obtaining Death Qi and Death Intent.
Then he would start looking into his clan’s cultivation methods.
———
Two weeks passed.
In this short time, the Shen Clan saw numerous breakthroughs.
Most came from the youngest generation, as the little ones now competed to earn the Clan Chief’s favor and their parents’ pride.
That said, hunters whose cultivation methods had been fixed by Shen Liqian and Zhiyin had also achieved a few breakthroughs on their hunts.
New alchemists had also begun showcasing their talents and combining their cultivation methods with alchemy, reaching shocking breakthroughs that put some to shame.
"It’s the first time in the history of the Shen Clan that we have so many breakthroughs and absolutely no deaths at all," Shen Lijian said as he walked beside his son, the Clan Chief.
Shen Liqian smiled.
"Yes."
His village started to show signs of progress as the main plaza now had a beautiful ice fountain decorated with Frostheart Snowcups.
In the middle of the fountain was the first ice flower of hope, which had grown into a huge flower exceeding the height of adult men.
Its nectar had spilled one night and frozen, creating tracks that sparkled both day and night.
Cold light glittered over the frozen tracks, and for a breath the plaza felt sacred.
It was now called the Fountain of the Shen Clan’s Hope, and Shen Liqian’s name was carved on a huge block of ice at its base.
Shen Liqian and Shen Lijian sat down on one of the ice benches overlooking the main plaza.
"For the first time in my life, I want the winter to last forever," Shen Lijian said, his eyes on the overgrown flower, pride flickering in them.
Shen Liqian chuckled.
"Why’s that?"
"I don’t want this flower to die at any cost," Shen Lijian replied.
Shen Liqian agreed.
"Yeah."
A solemn silence ensued between them.
A few breaths later, Shen Lijian asked, "How’s your comprehension coming along?"
"I found a clue to our origins," Shen Liqian replied, his words shocking his father.
"Really?" Shen Lijian asked again.
Ever since his son asked about their clan’s identity, Shen Lijian had seen Shen Liqian studying their cultivation methods, asking elders about potential clues, and even going around the village in search of leads.
Shen Lijian wanted to help, but there wasn’t much he could do.
In his whole life, he had focused on keeping his clan alive and providing his family with food and safety.
But now that things were developing, he could see how important the clan’s identity was.
Shen Liqian smiled wide, his expression like a kid’s.
"Yes.
"There’s not much left I can comprehend while staying in the village.
"It’s about time my vassals and I go hunting as well.
"We will head north, and I will bring Senior Taofeng and his group with me.
"It’s both so I can comprehend more of our cultivation manuals and so no one on the council will be worried about my safety."
Shen Lijian had nothing else to ask.
He knew that his entire clan would go with Shen Liqian to ensure he didn’t die.
Taking Shen Taofeng and his group with him would silence anyone who might oppose Shen Liqian leaving the village.
Even his mother wouldn’t be able to complain.
"Break a leg," Shen Lijian chuckled.
Shen Liqian returned his smile.
"There’s something important I want to talk about in the next meeting.
"No need to stress.
"It’s going to be a part of our identity.
"Something fun and worth looking forward to."
Shen Lijian pondered aloud about this potentially fun but important matter.
"What might it be?"
He was so deep in thought that Shen Liqian stood up and left him alone on the bench.
He went to stroll through the village.
A few minutes later, Shen Lijian raised a white flag.
"I can’t think of anything.
"What is it?
"Qian’er?"
Shen Liqian was no longer there.
"Oh, come on!
"Tell me before you go!"
He ran after him.
