Closer to Revealing My True Self-Chapter 357 - 261: The Overbearing Ancestral Gene_1
Chapter 357: Chapter 261: The Overbearing Ancestral Gene_1
Feng Yi gathered some experiences from several staff members at the zoo about their efforts in capturing sea snakes.
Though sea snakes mainly live in the sea, they still belong to the reptile class. Yang City Zoo had recently acquired some sea snaked, and Feng Yi came over upon hearing the news.
He said he was there to help, but in fact, he was looking for material to write... his task report.
Afterwards, Feng Yi stayed home, not going anywhere, writing his task report on the computer every day.
Um, Yi was the guide.
One could accept guidance, but couldn’t have someone ghostwrite for them.
With materials, direction, and a mentor, Feng Yi’s speed at writing task reports increased significantly. He could not only finish on time but also take a few days off during the process!
The incident involving Wen Suolin was still under investigation, while Feng Yi was occasionally contacted by phone or in person for inquiries related to the case.
Indeed, the entire process of Feng Yi’s search for the python had too many doubtful points and coincidences.
While everyone else was at their wits’ end, still chasing information around, Feng Yi had already cornered the person in the small county town.
Feng Yi’s given reason was that he had asked someone to help with the search, and combined with his exceptional sense of smell, he really found the person.
As to whether the investigators believed it or not, in this process, Feng Yi evidently had not engaged in any illegal activities.
Feng Yi’s sense of smell wasn’t a secret and was certain to be discovered upon investigation. He had even once caught mice and found Burmese pythons using his sense of smell.
Even though there were many doubts, the focus of the case was Wen Suolin and the person within the law enforcement department who had secretly leaked information to Wen Suolin.
The investigators were too busy to keep their attention on Feng Yi all the time.
Of course, even with the busyness, the Bureau for Joint Prevention and Control still assigned staff to investigate the "toxicity" of the small python, re-evaluating its danger level.
"We have isolated several strains of mutant bacteria from the secretions of the wounds of those two patients," they said.
The person in charge of identification at the Bureau handed Feng Yi a test report:
"After the bite, the wound became purulently infected with accompanying fever symptoms, inflammation markers like white blood cells and C-reactive protein rapidly increased, as well as various complications."
The two people bitten by the small python were now transferred to a designated hospital in Yang City and were under the watch of both the Bureau and local law enforcement.
"We have now identified several first-choice drugs, and the treatment effects are fairly good. Mr. Wen’s bodyguard can control the condition directly through drug treatment. The person found in the civilian residence, due to the delay in treatment time, is a bit more troublesome and requires surgery to clear the abscess."
The person from the Bureau smiled at Feng Yi, saying, "Once the correct treatment direction was identified, the treatment was relatively straightforward. Still, since the pathogenicity is so strong, its danger level will definitely be upgraded, but not too high. You can rest assured about that."
Highly dangerous creatures wouldn’t simply be kept in a zoo.
Feng Yi also thanked the other person with a smile.
The person from the Bureau continued, "We will keep observing it for a period of time."
Feng Yi said, "Understood."
Back in Yang City, Feng Yi shared with Doctor Wu the incident of the "little koi" poisoning two adult men, and also mentioned their symptoms.
Doctor Wu had mentioned to Feng Yi that if the "little koi’s" oral bacteria mutated into a multiple drug-resistant type, that is, super bacteria, it could be quite troublesome.
But now, seeing the test report from the Bureau, Feng Yi also breathed a sigh of relief.
It hasn’t reached the super bacteria level yet.
If it ever did, Feng Yi wouldn’t necessarily be able to save it now.
Before the person from the Bureau left, they remembered something and said to Feng Yi:
"Oh, a few researchers from the research base have been camping out at the reptile house in the zoo to collect samples and study its oral microorganisms, trying to understand the reasons for those bacterial mutations. When the zookeepers were feeding it, the researchers might have gotten too close, startling it, and it vomited its food."
Feng Yi asked, "Then what?"
The person from the Bureau replied, "The pinkie mouse it threw up was snatched by the researchers."
Feng Yi: "..."
The person from the Bureau patted Feng Yi’s shoulder, comforting him, "Don’t worry, it’s fine, the small python was protected by the zoo staff, and now no one other than the investigative staff is allowed to approach."
Feng Yi thought to himself: That little snake is really pitiful, I should visit it tomorrow.
It has been hard enough to save it with the report, it better not die.
After thanking the person from the Bureau and waiting for them to leave, Feng Yi called the zoo director to inquire about the situation there.
The zoo director explained in frustration the incident of the "little koi" vomiting its food today.
Now the "little koi" had a bigger appetite compared to other pythons of the same age and ate more frequently as well.
Today, while the other small pythons weren’t fed, only the "little koi" was fed a pinkie mouse, which to their surprise got scared and vomited.
"I fed it another pinkie mouse, but it hasn’t eaten it yet."
The zoo director looked distressed.
The next day, Feng Yi went to the zoo.
He arrived at the reptile house, in the quarantine zone.
"How is it going?" Feng Yi asked.
"It’s refusing to eat, curling up in a corner," the zoo director said with a troubled face.
Feng Yi walked over and opened the door to the glass enclosure.
The "little koi" that had been curled up against the rock wall in the corner quickly slithered over.
Feng Yi extended his hand to touch the top of its head, without letting it climb onto his hand directly.
As Feng Yi extended his hand without taking any precautions, the zoo director, standing nearby, wanted to say something, but merely opened his mouth. The words he wanted to say to caution Feng Yi turned into, "It’s quite attached to you, it’s probably more familiar with your scent."
