Coldsnap: The Billionaire Alpha's Fated Pregnant Princess (GL)-Chapter 175 - More Shelving, More Problems
Chapter 175: Chapter 175 - More Shelving, More Problems
As I worked, using too much time sorting and reorganizing so that putting it all back in later will be easier, I began making mental lists. What I needed to buy, what I needed to build, how to make this space truly functional for the weeks ahead.
The apocalypse countdown was a specter that wasn’t going anywhere... but whatever was coming, I intended to be ready for it as well as I can be. Which means placing things inside here... food most of all, but anything else I can think of.
Mismatched shelves were functional, but not a great choice. I needed something uniform, something that could be configured exactly how I wanted. Taking out the measuring tape I bought, I started getting a feel for the space in this world’s numbers.
I knew the container’s supposed exact interior dimensions - the hunter’s app post that was selling them listed all that information. But knowing that it is 7’8" wide and also seeing how much a 2’ deep shelf on either side will take away from walking around in here is a whole different matter.
"The 30" shelves definitely would be too much. Maybe along the back, though."
But that wasn’t my only concern. It was actually getting them here. I may have a license now, but do not know how to drive. The rideshare app is for small groceries at best, not for home renovation material delivery.
However, this place I’m in - this warehouse - did have that pallet of things delivered. I pulled out my phone and typed a quick message.
C: [Logistics question - if I need... furniture delivered to the warehouse, is there a way to do that without many serious complications?]
The response came back faster than I expected.
BK: [Company has an account with Stroman Supply. They deliver to our properties regularly. Just give them the address and swipe that card. They won’t ask too many follow up questions.]
BK: [Mind if I ask what you need? I can maybe see about getting a deal ahead of time.]
Well, I guess that’s what one expects of an assistant. Helpful answers and attempts to smooth everything out even more. I stand there for a minute without responding, trying to think if telling her has any downsides.
C: [Quality storage shelving. Probably several units.]
BK: [Ask for Davie - he handles our orders. I’ll also tell him to make sure he’s not jerking you around and get on driving himself if he has to.]
I found myself smiling... both at having someone to talk to other than a wolf spirit and at Claire seeming... well, herself. Having connections certainly made things easier, even if those connections led directly back to someone I was trying not to think about.
With that sorted, I continued taking notes on my phone about what I feel like I want to place inside here. Photos of the current layout, drawing marks where I estimate shelving would go. Text notes for what could be placed where.
This container was spacious, but every inch counted when you were planning for an indefinite period of survival. And having a more comfortable setup wouldn’t hurt, especially if I was ever going to use it like I did out in the forest again.
"I should get a cheap bed too. Probably don’t sell those at hardware stores, though. Oh, I can just have that delivered to the apartment and then Stash it before coming back here! Aren’t I a genius, Vrika?"
My wolf barked, though I couldn’t tell if he was agreeing because the creature believed it or just because it was happy with my good mood. But then it sends me some ideas and images that makes me realize why it was happy to have a bed here.
> Naughty wolf. I think of a bed, and you think of filling it with a white haired beauty. Helene’s memories didn’t seem to paint you in this light, so am I being a bad influence on you? <
"Well, if I’m going to be bringing anyone else here eventually... maybe it won’t be a cheap bed. Actually, why was I going cheap anyway? This might be the last good place for a bed in the world depending on what happens."
One problem at a time. First, make the space functional for survival. Everything else could wait!
Packing up the tools and supplies I’d brought, I prepared to head to Stroman Supply. Time to turn my lifeline into something worthy of a fox princess’s survival standards.

The store actually was not that far away... a converted warehouse building with loading docks on one side and some displays visible through plate glass windows. Altogether, from Helene’s knowledge, the kind of place that catered to contractors and serious DIY projects.
Not what some might think of as ’weekend warriors’ picking up their garden hoses after accidentally running it over on their riding lawn mower. She had some weird thoughts about what ’suburbia’ was like, apparently.
On the approach I brace myself as I’d immediately noted the scent of at least two regular werewolves. When I make my way inside, I’m somewhat able to tell that a few are out among the customers... Omegas for the most part, though one may not be.
The stronger, consistently laid scent led me toward a tall, sandy-haired man arranging lumber samples behind a service counter. Still an Omega, as far as I can tell. I’m not sure why a spirit bearing werewolf would pretend to be one, but I won’t ignore the possibility.
"Excuse me, do you happen to be Davie?"
When I spoke, he turned and looked up with a lazy, friendly smile. His face and broad shoulders were so much like Kyrie’s apparent Beta, but with an easier demeanor to them. Clearly they were related.
"That’s me. You must be the Lunarizon worker Claire mentioned. She said you’d be needing shelving?"
"That’s right. I have measurements."
I pulled out my phone and showed him the notes I’d taken - moved into an actual note app. I didn’t need to show him that I was placing them in a storage container. The man nodded as he looked over the dimensions.
"Most people just guess and end up with stuff that doesn’t fit. It’s good you know what you’re looking for already. Follow me, let’s see which kind we have in stock."
It really is good when people are helpful.
