Contract Marriage: Abusive Love with Mr.CEO-Chapter 768 - 398: Extra Story: Marie’s Body Recovered Long Ago 1
Skyler Jones gazed deeply into Christine Quinn’s eyes, "Thank you."
Christine Quinn shook her head, saying nothing.
Marie got down from Skyler Jones’s lap and affectionately clung to her father, "Daddy, I wish you could be home every day. Can you not go back to New York?"
"Be good, the company has a project in New York that can’t be handled without me."
Marie said disappointedly, "It’ll be months before I see Daddy again."
Christine Quinn comforted her daughter, "Your daddy will finish the project soon, at most another two months..."
"Really?" Marie asked excitedly. That cuts down the waiting time by over a month!
Skyler Jones nodded slightly, "Yes."
"Oh yay..." Marie hugged Skyler Jones happily, bouncing up and down.
Once Marie returned to her room to do weekend homework, Christine Quinn went back to her room.
Skyler Jones was at the window making a phone call, the bright light shining on his tall figure made him look particularly upright. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
He noticed her from her reflection in the glass, said a few words to the person on the other end, then hung up and turned to look at her.
Christine Quinn approached him and gently asked, "Heading back to New York later?"
He had his own private jet and could leave whenever he wished.
Skyler Jones almost inaudibly replied, "Mm," and went to pick up the suit jacket from the sofa, putting it on.
"Can you leave tomorrow?" Christine Quinn asked with a tone of pleading.
Skyler Jones paused while adjusting his watch, hearing Christine Quinn speak again, "Today’s Sunday, and Marie really hopes you can stay to spend this weekend with her."
Skyler Jones’s voice suddenly turned cold, "No."
Christine Quinn furrowed her brow slightly, "Are you worried Jennifer Douglas has no one to look after her in New York? Don’t forget, without you, she still has family with her."
Skyler Jones glanced at her and casually said, "Speaking to me in that tone, are you jealous?"
Christine Quinn snorted, "Fine, stay or leave as you please." Having said that, she turned and left.
Skyler Jones watched Christine Quinn’s slender figure leave, his gaze slightly dulled, eventually replaced by a deep contemplation.
Upon exiting the room, Christine Quinn irritably smacked her forehead.
She was so useless; she actually had other things she wanted to say to him just now...
Indeed, she meant to ask about Ivan Ruskin’s call last night.
She wanted to know why he hasn’t explained their long-ended relationship to Ivan and the others?
Being straight-minded, she couldn’t keep too much inside, this question plagued her with insomnia for an entire night.
Why hasn’t he explained to Ivan and the others—could it be he still cares about her?
But that’s impossible...
For over a decade, the contempt he felt for her was carried to the epitome—saying he has any affection for her would be the biggest absurdity.
She really is a conflicted person...
Constantly warning herself not to waste even a second of what precious time she still had on him, yet when faced with such sensitive topics, her heart ached for answers.
Forget it, no point in asking. Anyway, it doesn’t mean anything to her anymore...
When Marie was outside the villa saying goodbye to Skyler Jones, Christine Quinn used the excuse of suddenly feeling unwell to remain in her room.
She was truly tired of acting in front of Marie, that sense of dissonance was utterly embarrassing.
Wondering if he left or not?
She went to the window, pulled a gap in the curtain, and saw him lovingly talking to Marie, probably instructing her on something, as Marie kept nodding.
Christine Quinn inwardly muttered jealously, the child was so heartless; she bore her for ten months and painstakingly raised her, yet since recognizing Skyler Jones, she seemed to forget about the hardships of her mother, didn’t even complain about her father’s past "abandonment," instantly rushing into her father’s arms, and the relationship seemed to be growing stronger.
Skyler Jones seemed to feel someone was watching him, he inadvertently looked up...
Christine Quinn, caught by his gaze, jumped in surprise, hurriedly pulling the curtains tight, patting her chest in worry—Did he see her?
Just as Christine Quinn was troubled by this, a sudden "ding" sounded in the room.
