Courting Death System-Chapter 21: Disciple

After a long session of questions and answers, Lucius stood up, pushed the wooden chair and kowtowed three times and shouted,

"Lucius Lothra greets master!"

Although it took only minutes for him to come to this decision, it wasn’t a rash one but one given a lot of thought and consideration. He had obtained a lot of information from old man Yezi and also remembered the advice Ignis had given him. Without background, he’d be easy prey for people of this world to pick on so he naturally grabbed at the huge thigh of Yezi.

But what truly made Lucius make this decision was because of the three "???" floating above Yezi’s and Anya’s head and from his gaming experience, he knew that he’d come across powerhouses so how could he not take advantage of this opportunity.

Yezi and Anya widened their eyes in shock at Lucius’s actions that Anya couldn’t help but ask.

"Hey, what are you doing?" she asked.

"I’m performing the Master- Disciple Ritual from xiaxia and wuxia novels. Is there something wrong?" answered Lucius with a slightly confused look. Yezi didn’t know why but he quite liked this ritual that he couldn’t help but commend it.

"Good. Good. Good. Good disciple, quickly get up. I truly didn’t misjudge you and fortunately quickly took actions, otherwise I would have obtained your corpse three days later. How fortunate." said Yezi while stroking his long beard.

"What do you mean?" asked Lucius with clear confusion. He didn’t know what Yezi was talking about but it sounded important so he wanted to know. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"Ah, didn’t I mention it? Your master naturally has the ability to see into the future. I saw that you’d die in three days but now that you’ve become my disciple, you’re safe." said Yezi.

"Stop trying to look cool in front of this future pervert grandpa! It’s not like you’re the only person who can see into the future plus, your time is shorter than mine so there’s nothing to brag about." said Anya with a cold voice.

"Who asked you for your stupid opinion! Get out of my office right now! If I see you here again, I’ll beat you to a bloody pulp!" angrily shouted Yezi.

"Your office stinks so I won’t stay here a second longer. And if you dare try to provoke me, I’ll shave off that beard with a slap!" said Anya as she slammed the door behind her.

"Can’t you just give me a moment of glory! Darn girl, always ruining my spotlight! You’re as useless as your father!"

’This duo of grandpa and granddaughter seemed to have a really... unique and strong bond. Always pulling each other down.’ thought Lucius to himself.

After Anya had left, Lucius asked Yezi to explain in detail about his death’s events and Yezi naturally didn’t hide anything.

It turned out that in Yezi’s first vision, Lucius had refused to become his student and left the shop with confidence. Only to be hunted down by the Holy Church and assassinated three days later.

"What? Why is your expression suddenly so serious? Don’t worry, I changed the future by taking you in as my disciple so you’re safe. No need to worry." comforted Yezi, not knowing that Lucius was completely thinking about a different issue.

’So I’m only left with one life? Damn it! And here I was thinking that I’d become immortal, only to find out I’m left with one life! System Online really took things to the extreme. Giving players only three lives to enjoy the game. I guess there was a way to obtain more lives but this isn’t a game but reality!’ thought Lucius.

According to Yezi, he could look into the future for a total time of five days. And from Lucius’s calculations, he always revived after a few hours had passed, but in Yezi’s vision, he didn’t revive which meant that he’d died for real.

’Two extra lives have completely been wasted in that wasteland called Fire City and now I’m only left with one life. If I die now, there’s no coming back. I must become stronger to protect myself!’ thought Lucius.

A week had passed since Lucius came to this place and he had learned a lot from reading books from the library. Anya had personally brought him these books to read. The information inside was truly what he was currently in need of.

Through the books, he finally learned more about where he was. Turned out that this World contained universes inside it or was made up of many universes which created Lumina, an Omniversal World.

There were also grades for worlds. Planets, Solar Systems, Nebulae, Galaxies and Universe are considered Debris In Space.

Only when a World has a prefix of the three: Universal, Multiversal and Omniversal, does the World gain recognition. Only a World made up of one or more universes is truly a World.

Of course these worlds also have growth stages that restrict them and the higher the growth stage, the stronger the World.

Infant, Baby, Adolescent, Mature and Adult. Only these five stages were mentioned in books.

He also learned that the weakest universes inside Lumina are the furthest away from Lumina’s Core, on the outer region. These universes make up the Bronze Planes where Bronze Grade Cities are found, followed by the Silver Planes, Gold Realms, Diamond Realms and Platinum Domains. The closer one is to Lumina’s Core, the faster the improvement but not just anyone can live there, only the strongest have that right.

Lucius had also read many books that talked about different topics like the greatest mages and knights to ever exist in history. The wars that had taken place some of which are still ongoing like the war with Demonic Beings and the war with Insect Race.

He also read about the strongest known races in Lumina, some of which are myths or legends like the Phoenix, Dragon and True Giant Race. The Elf, Spirit and Fairy are more attuned with nature. And after a week of reading, it was finally time to start his training.

Old Yezi sat cross legged, opposite Lucius and both men wore comfortable clothes for better movement. Lucius was thinking about all kinds of OP skills Yezi would teach him and couldn’t contain his excitement.

"As promised, our first lesson will be focussed on control of your current power. The first thing we’ll start with is your leaking Aura as if not controlled well, may cause problems in the outside world." said Yezi.

Lucius didn’t know what Yezi was talking about but still listened with full attention. Yezi then pressed his index finger on Lucius’s forehead and information flooded Lucius’s mind. Information about what Aura actually was, how it was formed and what its benefits were.

"No matter how powerful you are, if one doesn’t have a deterrent effect then no one will take you seriously. From the information I’ve just given you, you already know that there are different types of Auras but one’s Innate Aura is most important since it projects a reflection of yourself onto the world. You don’t look like someone who loves to oppress others so why is your Aura so heavy and suffocating?"
