Courting Death System-Chapter 32: Leaving

"Who’s there?! Show yourself!" shouted someone after hearing Lucius’s loud proclamation. Having been discovered, Lucius had no choice but to show himself. A naked brown skinned man with dreadlocks came out from the bushes he was hiding in.

Holding in his hands was a palm sized rainbow coloured frog.

"Hello everyone." greeted Lucius while looking at the people who had discovered him. These guys were wearing robes similar to hijabs and only their eyes could be seen.

"Who are you? Where do you come from?" someone from the group asked.

"I am Lucius Lothra, I come from deep inside the forest. I’ve been travelling with my pet for a long time, looking for a way out and I stumbled across you guys. I don’t mean any harm." said Lucius.

"Pet...?" It was then that the group moved their eyes from Lucius to whatever he was holding. The group took a close look at the frog and their eyes widened in shock. Everyone rubbed their eyes and looked again but the frog was still the same.

"Y-You say this is your pet?" asked the leader while pointing at the frog.

"Yes, his name is Rainbow, my pet. Is something wrong, do you guys perhaps don’t accommodate people with pets?"

"No! No, that’s not it. If you don’t mind me asking, where did you find that pet of yours?" asked the leader.

"I found him relaxing on a leaf that was floating on what I thought was a pond of water but later found out that it was actually poison. Whew, I almost died." answered Lucius while mixing truth and lies. If he said he’d died countless times, who knew if these guys would take him with them.

"You’re... saying you d-didn’t die after touching the pond water?!"

"It wasn’t water but poison and yes, I didn’t die from touching the poison, I even drank it and I gotta, it didn’t taste good." Lucius got carried away and started to brag about his deeds.

"WHAT?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!"

"Of course, are you doubting me?"

"No! Of course not. Then please follow us back to the Cult, I believe the elders will be happy to have you." said the leader.

"Thank you very much, by the way, do you by any chance have spare clothes for me to wear. I don’t feel comfortable being the only naked person here." said Lucius.

"Of course, you’re in luck brother Lucius because I happen to have a spare change of clothes that will definitely fit you. I’ll leave them here."

Lucius then followed the group while leaving a great distance between him and them. The group was extremely afraid of Lucius’s pet and didn’t want it anywhere near them. After following behind the group, Lucius finally left the forest. He was surprised to see rainbow coloured clouds floating above the forest.

Three people were already waiting outside the forest, these three people were also wearing hijab looking robes.

"Kaal, why did you and your group leave the Rainbow Cloud Forest so soon? Are you telling me that all of you have tamed poisonous insects? I highly doubt that." said one of the three people in an elderly voice.

"Well, Elder Luka, we left early because we found... someone special. Yes, we found a special person inside the outer area of the Rainbow Cloud Forest." explained the leader who’d spoken to Lucius.

Lucius didn’t explain further and just pointed at Lucius who stood very far away from the group.

"We found him and I brought him back with us but I do believe I made the right choice because he has tamed the Rainbow Coloured Poison Frog."

"What?! The Rainbow Coloured Poison Frog! Are you sure?!" exclaimed all three elders.

"You can check for yourselves to see if I’m lying. He even said that he drank from the Source Of Poison." when Kaal said this, one of the elders fainted from shock.

A Source Of Poison was something not to be taken lightly. In books, it was described as the pond of death, a place that contains a million types of poisons, some yet to have antidotes and some yet to be even discovered. And Kaal was telling them that someone survived after drinking there.

And they actually couldn’t refute these words as lies or exaggerations because it’s clearly written in books that the Rainbow Coloured Poison Frog is found laying on a leaf above the Source Of Poison where it obtains different kinds of poisons.

"Take me to this person, I want to meet him personally." said elder Luka. The two elders didn’t care about the elder who’d fainted because someone with more importance had appeared.

The two flew towards Lucius but descended when they were about a hundred meters or so from him.

"Do you really have the Rainbow Coloured Poison Frog and did you drink from the Source Of Poison?" asked elder Luka without even introducing himself.

Lucius nodded and even showed the two guys his pet frog. The two elders nodded, elder Luka flew away but the other elder remained behind. He waved his hand and a bird the size of an ostrich appeared.

"This is a puppet bird that I usually use travel long distances. We’ll be using Magical beasts to return to the Cult and I doubt any magical beast will allow you to mount it with your pet so use this puppet. Just tell it where you want to go and it will operate itself." explained the elder before flying away.

Elder Luka who’d seen everything that happened remained calm but was fuming inside.

’That conniving bastard has outsmarted me. Why didn’t I think of that, damn it!’ inwardly cursed elder Luka.

Soon, a massive Dragonfly landed in front of everyone, it was bigger than a helicopter and looked menacing and dangerous, at least to Lucius it did. The elders and the youngsters mounted the dragon fly while Lucius mounted his puppet bird.

"Follow them." he gave the puppet a simple order. After receiving the command, the puppet bird seemed to come to life as it stretched its wings and flapped them slowly. Lucius held on tightly to the bird while also cautioning Rainbow.

"Rainbow, hold on tightly, make sure not to fall off."

Lucius had a feeling that things weren’t as simple as they looked. After everyone had mounted the Dragonfly, it also flapped its wings slowly then disappeared, the same thing happened with the puppet bird.

SWOOSH!

SWOOSH!

A barrier protected Lucius from the strong winds. What shocked Lucius was the speed at which the puppet bird and Dragonfly were flying at. They were so fast that they reached the sky in an instant and were flying higher and higher.

’Why are they flying higher and higher, aren’t they supposed to fly horizontally?’ thought Lucius.

The stars in the sky became bigger and bigger and clearer.

’Don’t tell me... Outer Space!’ 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

Yes, the two beasts flew broke through all the spheres in the atmosphere and flew out of the planet. Once out, their speeds increased by ten times. Lucius wasn’t sure how fast it was when travelling at a speed of light but he was sure that the beasts had reached or even surpassed that speed.
