Crown Of Hearts-Chapter 75: A spot of fun
Chapter 75: A spot of fun
"Start talking...." Eamon grinned and Eros wondered how the tables had turned so quickly.
"It’s nothing." Eros tried to brush it off but his friends’ probing eyes made him aware that he was not going anywhere unless he spilled the tea.
"Fine, it happened last night." Eros admitted, the tips of his ears burning as his friends’ curious stares told him to keep talking.
"You guys remember the cute bar attender that I told you about last week, right?" Eros asked.
"Yeah, the half breed with the tantalizing blue eyes. We remember him." Tia smirked.
"So, you are two together now?" Eamon asked and Eros’ eyes dulled a little.
"He told me he just wanted to have some fun before he found his mate and so I figured, why not?" Eros who was getting tired of holding out hope of finding his fated mate admitted.
He was now one hundred and twenty seven years and almost all his age mates had found their mates so, where was his hiding?
Dragons usually found their mates at the peak of sexual maturity which was usually anywhere between ninety and a hundred years. A hundred and ten if one took long.
It was the time in their lifetime when a dragon was most fertile and could easily get offspring which was the instinctal reason for mating. Love and companionship were a welcome bonus.
Eros had figured he could just find a man or woman with whom he could have a serious relationship and eventually settle down with.
It happened to one in a thousand dragons whereby a dragon never got the chance to meet their fated mate and Eros did not want to spend his very long lifetime alone.
He had seen two of these dragons form full filling bonds with someone that wasn’t their mate.
They were happy and he figured if he was fated to be without a mate, that could not hold him back from seeking love and true companionship.
"You don’t sound okay with the fact that he doesn’t want anything serious." Tia softly pointed out and Eros sighed, not wishing to trouble his friends with his thoughts.
Within a second, he was back to his cheeky self as he carelessly shrugged his shoulders.
"What’s life without a spot of fun." He grinned and he relaxed when his friends did not linger on the topic.
They were clearly concerned but he appreciated that they didn’t pry the truth from him.
He could tell them when he was ready.
"Guys, I am leaving today. I am going to visit a friend." Eamon changed the topic.
"You are going to a human kingdom?" Eros was curious. He had always wanted to see what human lifestyles looked like.
"Yes." Eamon agreed.
"Can I come along" Eros asked, his eyes burning with excitement.
"Sure, the more the merrier. Tia what about you?’ Eamon asked.
"Ezekiel has a lot going on at the moment and he can’t travel without ensuring that the red dragon that poses a threat to his family is captured. I think I will stay here with him." Tia replied and her friends were understanding.
"You two are clearly smitten with your mates." Eros teased, inwardly wondering if he could ever find himself in a similar situation as his friends blushed, not denying the accusation.
Valerion had no problem with Eros joining their travel party and they left shortly after lunch.
Eamon sat on Valerion’s dragon as they flew to the destination with Eros following shortly behind and after three hours, they arrived on the outskirts of the human kingdom.
Eamon hired a carriage that took them to the castle because they couldn’t risk flying in when there were systems and guards everywhere that were programmed to shoot and kill any dragon they saw.
Damon was present to welcome them and following closely behind him were his mischievous twin sisters.
Eamon smiled once he saw that Damon appeared to be in good health and once he had stepped out of the carriage, the two dragons travelling with him followed, standing at his sides protectively.
Damon’s smiled once he saw him but his smile wavered as he looked at the two dragons.
Why was there an extra one?
Damon had prepared himself to deal with just Valerion and he tried not to glare at the second dragon that looked like a younger version of his friend’s mate.
Eamon quickly moved forward to explain.
"This is Eros, Valerion’s nephew and a good friend of mine." Eamon said and Damon forced a smile to his lips as he looked at the dragons.
They were his guests and despite his feelings, he could try and be polite since they clearly meant a lot to Eamon.
"Valerion. Eros. Welcome to my kingdom." Damon greeted just as his sisters arrived at his sides.
"Hi, Eamon." Daphne greeted as her eyes cautiously looked at the dragons that stood behind her brother’s friend.
"Hi, Daphne. This is my mate and his nephew. They are not threats." Eamon coaxed patiently.
Davina’s eyes were fixed on the brown eyed dragon that offered her a friendly smile when she stared too long.
"I have a few human friends." Eros offered helpfully and somehow, that helped to crack the tension in the air.
"I hope you enjoy your stay." Davina returned Eros’ polite smile, having a feeling that she was about to become good friends with a dragon.
It was insane but refreshing.
Valerion didn’t say anything and just watched the interaction unfold, his aura calm and nearly indifferent.
He was here to make sure that Eamon was safe and if his presence made a few humans uncomfortable, there was nothing he could do about it.
His nephew was much more interactive and friendly.
It was like he really intended on enjoying his stay and Valerion didn’t plan on spoiling his fun.
Damon led them inside and once they had been shown their rooms, Eamon convinced Valerion to let him spend some time alone with his friend.
The dragon reluctantly let his mate out of his sight, taking comfort that the bond they shared could alert him if his mate was in any kind of danger.
